What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?
Tempting love can be fatal—even for the most dangerous vampire in Savannah. A woman who is unable to love meets a man who is unable to feel emotion … and two worlds catches on fire.
How did you decide where your book was going to take place?
The trilogy is set in Savannah, one of the most beautiful and spooky cities in the country!
Would you hang out with your heroine in real life?
Absolutely! She’s a badass and she’s hilarious.
What are three words that describe your hero?
Brilliant, deadly, alpha
What’s something you learned while writing this book?
The history of the Savannah Great Fire – which in my world, was caused by vampires!
Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?
I edit as I go along.
What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?
Anything potatoes! Cheesy, baked, French fries and more! It’s the Irish in me.
Describe your writing space/office!
I’m lucky enough to have a dedicated office, and it’s filled with a wall of books, stuffed tigers, Thor, the Hulk, Han Solo, Wonder Woman, and mementos of my travels.
Who is an author you admire?
I have so many wonderful author friends, I could never name only one! My personal heroes are those creatives who fight depression and anxiety like me and fight through it to tell their stories.
Is there a book that changed your life?
The Lord of the Rings trilogy. I escaped to Middle Earth during some very tough times in my childhood. I’m working on an epic fantasy series right now that I’ve waited my entire life to write.
Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)
My first call was astonishing! I’d only given the submission to my agent the Friday before, and the first editor she sent it to read it over the weekend and gave us an offer on Monday morning!
What’s your favorite genre to read?
All of them! The first 10 books I’ve read so far this year are nonfiction advice, biography, history, fantasy, romance, and mystery.
What’s your favorite movie?
No surprise, but the Lord of the Rings!
What is your favorite season?
Autumn. I love when the Florida heat calms down and then there’s Halloween!
How do you like to celebrate your birthday?
With as much fun as possible!
What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?
Movie: The Menu. I’m rarely surprised, being a writer, but this one surprised me!
TV show: The Brothers Sun – love Michelle Yeoh in anything
What’s your favorite type of cuisine?
Italian!
What do you do when you have free time?
Go hiking, go to movies, go to the beach, spend time with my dogs!
