1--What is the title of your latest release?
ACCIDENTALLY FAMOUS
2--What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?
A small-town home renovator is thrust into the spotlight when an A-list movie star’s assistant accidentally tags her Instagram account causing his fans, the paparazzi, and the hunky actor himself to descend on her quiet coastal town.
3--How did you decide where your book was going to take place?
A remote small town was necessary for this series and the rugged, remote Maine coastline was the perfect setting.
4--Would you hang out with your heroine in real life?
Yes, absolutely! I build stuff too.
5--What are three words that describe your hero?
Genuine, self-aware, compassionate
6--What’s something you learned while writing this book?
Lots and lots of Megalodon facts. They are my new favorite prehistoric creatures.
7--Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?
I edit as I go along. I start each session by editing what I wrote the day before. It makes things easier in the end and keeps my voice and tempo consistent.
8--What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?
Sharp cheddar cheeses especially when paired with tart apples.
9--Describe your writing space/office!
I built my own writing studio. It’s a 120-squarefoot free-standing building that has a glass wall facing the river. (pictures included below)
10--Who is an author you admire?
I admire anyone hanging in there and putting out a product. This is not an easy business.
11--Is there a book that changed your life?
Two books changed the way I see the world and reading. In late middle school, DUNE, by Frank Herbert was the first sci-fi I ever read and perhaps the first novel I’d read outside of school for pure enjoyment. INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE completely changed the way I read and inspired me to major in literature in college. Anne Rice did a masterful job of painting things I’d been taught were black and white in infinite shades of gray. Good and evil in her works are intertwined and co-dependent and this fascinated me. I’m a huge fan.
12--Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)
That was many years ago with my first YA novel, SHATTERED SOULS, and what I remember most when I received the news from my agent was screaming and scaring my dog so much she ran from the room.
13--What’s your favorite genre to read?
I’m all over the place. I’m on a true crime podcast binge right now, so I’ve been drawn to suspense recently. My go-to comfort read is historical romance.
14--What’s your favorite movie?
A Room with a View and My Neighbor Totoro
15--What is your favorite season?
Spring. So much possibility.
16--How do you like to celebrate your birthday?
I like to spend the day outside on our boat.
17--What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?
If you like true crime, I like That Chapter over on YouTube. The host makes horrible stories palatable with a quirky sense of humor. It took me a while to warm up to his style but now, I’m hooked.
18--What’s your favorite type of cuisine?
Italian
19--What do you do when you have free time?
Spend time on the water, garden, and hang out with my chickens.
20--What can readers expect from you next?
I’m working on three projects in different genres. Two of them are a complete departure for me and I’m super excited about them.
