Stacey Kennedy| 20 Questions: WHAT THE FANG?

Instagramgoodreadsbookbubtwitterfacebook

1--What is the title of your latest release?

WHAT THE FANG?, Undead Ever After Book 1

2--What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?

I’ll let Sapphyria’s Book Blog tell you since she does it so well.

As a magicless witch cast out from her coven, Willa settles in the one place witches don’t belong. She runs Cauldron Boil Books, a bookstore in downtown Charleston, South Carolina, a city run by vampires. She caters to the reading habits of the undead and had made a couple vampire friends. Willa also manages to fly under the radar. That is, until she doesn’t. Upon closure of the bookstore after an event, Willa finds herself the helpless victim of a vampire attack. When she discovers who saves her, Willa’s world quickly upends.

3--How did you decide where your book was going to take place?

For my 40th birthday, I had planned a trip with my best friends to Napa Valley. Sadly, this was when Napa Valley had terrible forest fires across the state. On the advice from our travel agent, we ended up going to Charleston instead, which ended up being a blessing in disguise. I absolutely fell in love with Charleston and knew it was the perfect place to set the Undead Ever After series.

4--Would you hang out with your heroine in real life?

Without a doubt, yes! Willa is an absolute hoot. She’s a loyal friend, a lover of animals, quick witted and adorable in every way.

5--What are three words that describe your hero?

Brooding. Swoony. Intense.

6--Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?

I usually write my heart out until I reach the halfway mark. Because I’m a pantser and don’t plot my books, I don’t really know my characters fully until halfway through. I always need to go back and edit, edit, edit, to get a story right.

7--What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?

Chocolate. Always chocolate.

8--Describe your writing space/office!

I live in a house built in the 1950’s, so my office was once a small dining room. It’s one of my favorite rooms in my house. It’s cozy, always full of either our cats and dogs, and most importantly, books!

9--Who is an author you admire?

Sarah J. Maas. I only discovered her writing a year ago, but I am such a fan of her worlds and characters. She hooks me from page one.

10--Is there a book that changed your life?

Twilight. It was the book the kicked off my love of reading when I was in my early twenties, which eventually led into my writing. Without Twilight, I’m not sure I’d ever be writing today.

11--What’s your favorite genre to read?

Paranormal romance, urban fantasy romance and erotic romance. I love all three to bits and pieces. I only wish I had more time to read. I only manage a couple chapters before bed, so my TBR list right now is a mile long.

12--What’s your favorite movie?

Hope Floats. It makes my heart happy.

13--What is your favorite season?

Fall. I’m all about cozy sweaters, leggings and pumpkin everything.

14--How do you like to celebrate your birthday?

Surrounded by my family and friends … and of course, chocolate.

15--What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?

I just finished watching The Great on Amazon Prime. I cannot recommend it enough. Once I started watching, I couldn’t stop. It’s hilarious, twisty and seriously, just the best show I’ve seen in a while. Go watch it!

16--What’s your favorite type of cuisine?

Dessert.

17--What do you do when you have free time?

I spend any free time I have with my horse, Priya. I used to show competitively but now I ride just for fun. Priya and I love our days exploring forests with friends, and most of my ideas come to me during our quiet rides.

18--What can readers expect from you next?

See Me (Phoenix Book 4)

Next up, is the fourth book in my erotic romance series, Phoenix. This book transitions into a whole new cast of characters so I’m very excited about that. I always enjoy returning to the exclusive sex club in New York City. It’s a fun time!
