1--What is the title of your latest release?

HOW TO LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR

2--What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?

When Noah Jansen can’t convince his neighbor, Grace Travis, to sell her home to him, he has some not so neighborly ways to change her mind.

3--How did you decide where your book was going to take place?

Noah Jansen is the brother of Chris Jansen from TEN RULES FOR FAKING IT. He moves to California to be closer to Chris.

4--Would you hang out with your heroine in real life?

Yes! I absolutely would. I’d also let her design my home.

5--What are three words that describe your hero?

Charming, Funny, Stubborn

6--What’s something you learned while writing this book?

Writing-wise, I learned more about the editing process. I find it challenging but with this one, I really learned to get into the groove of improving what already existed.

Non-writing wise, I learned some of the laws around the removal of palm trees in California ;-)

7--Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?

I do edit as I draft. My typical process when I open up my computer is to re-read what I last wrote to remind myself where I left off. From there, I write fresh words. Sometimes I read the words I wrote that day in bed and send myself notes for the next day.

8--What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?

Chocolate chip cookies. My favorite is to take the whole Pillsbury roll and make one giant cookie.

9--Describe your writing space/office!

I have a beautiful office actually. It has gorgeous white shelves filled with my favorite books and a little desk nook that was meant to be a closet. It has my Lego--Central Perk, the Friends apartments, and my Disney Castle. Oddly enough, I spend a lot of time writing in my bed, my chair, or at my dining table.

10--Who is an author you admire?

Oh my gosh. How many lines is this answer allowed to be? Nora Roberts. She is the ultimate everything. I don’t even think I could meet her even though I’d love to because I think I’d just become too overwhelmed. She’s incredible. Her writing, her ability to take a stand, her empire—her Boonsboro world is REAL. That’s incredible.

11--Is there a book that changed your life?

Wow. I think every amazing book changes us in small ways. Or large ones. THE SEARCH by Nora Roberts, FANGIRL by Rainbow Rowell, THE FLATSHARE by Beth O’Leary.

12--Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)

In April of 2019, I had a phone call with Alex Sehulster, my SMP editor. It was surreal because at the time, I didn’t know for sure if the book (TEN RULES FOR FAKING IT) would be published but I knew she LOVED it and the people reading it with her LOVED it. I’d become worried that maybe my stories didn’t have a place and she renewed my hope and belief and just a couple months later, the deal was signed and it’s been an actual dream come true.

13--What’s your favorite genre to read?

Romance

14--What’s your favorite movie?

The Proposal or Two Weeks Notice

15--What is your favorite season?

Fall, but not if it’s raining.

16--How do you like to celebrate your birthday?

I like being with my favorite people; my family and my best friend and her family. Also with cookies.

17--What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?

We just rewatched Schitt’s Creek and my love for that show is indescribable. Also, we just watched Turner & Hooch on Disney+ and I found it absolutely adorable. Our friend is in it and of course, we’d watched the original movie so we wanted to see it but I had no idea how much fun it would be.

18--What’s your favorite type of cuisine?

Are chicken fingers considered their own cuisine?

19--What do you do when you have free time?

I hang out with my family—my husband and two daughters—as much as humanly possible. I read lots, watch TV, do yoga, doodle, and listen to music.

20--What can readers expect from you next?

As Sophie Sullivan, Wes’s book is next and I really think readers will enjoy his story. It’s tentatively titled A Guide to Staying Just Friends. As Jody Holford (I want to say pen name but it’s my actual name—Sophie is the pen name!) I’ve got a new cozy mystery series coming out in August.

HOW TO LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR by Sophie Sullivan

How to Love Your Neighbor

Interior Design School? Check. Cute house to fix up? Check.

Sexy, grumpy neighbor who is going to get in the way of your plans? Check. Unfortunately.

Grace Travis has it all figured out. In between finishing school and working a million odd jobs, she’ll get her degree and her dream job. Most importantly, she’ll have a place to belong, something her harsh mother could never make. When an opportunity to fix up--and live in--a little house on the beach comes along, Grace is all in. Until her biggest roadblock moves in next door.

Noah Jansen knows how to make a deal. As a real estate developer, he knows when he's found something special. Something he could even call home. Provided he can expand by taking over the house next door--the house with the combative and beautiful woman living in it.

With the rules for being neighborly going out the window, Grace and Noah are in an all-out feud. But sometimes, your nemesis can show you that home is always where the heart is.

About Sophie Sullivan

Sophie Sullivan

SOPHIE SULLIVAN is a Canadian author as well as a cookie-eating, Diet Pepsi-drinking, Disney enthusiast who loves reading and writing romance in almost equal measure. She writes around her day job as a teacher and spends her spare time with her sweet family watching reruns of Friends. Ten Rules For Faking It is her romcom debut novel, but she's had plenty of practice writing happily ever after as her alter ego, Jody Holford.
