T.A. Chase | Vampires, Brothers, and Blood & Thorns

Hello and thank you for having me here today. I’m so happy to be able to chat with you about my new book, BULLS & BLOOD. It features the Thorn brothers, six vampires, and the various different men they fall in love with. Those men aren’t necessarily all humans. The Blood & Thorn Ranch universe is populated by all kinds of creatures. At the top of the society are the vampires and once they came out of the shadows, they took over. The Thorn brothers take wealthy vampires on guided hunts to relive their glory days back when they could hunt down their prey. Now they have blood banks and humans lining up to give them what they need to survive.

There are demons, djinn, shifters, incubi, and angels among other creatures.
Unfortunately, angels are the most dangerous of the supernatural beings and
there are laws about dealing with them. Readers will find out more about all
of
the others who inhabit this world as the series continues.

I love writing paranormal stories because I can make up my own rules. There
are
a few things that are stereotypical for certain creatures…like vampires must
drink blood, though even that can be tweaked a little if the author so
chooses.
Yet there are so many different things an author can do with their own
creatures. Some can make wolf shifters who aren’t ruled by the moon—or who
can
change into the actual animal or a combination of man and beast. Also, there
are
so many animals that can be shifters besides wolves and the big cats. Heck,
there’s a bull shifter in my series. There might be others, but they haven’t
revealed themselves to me.

Since my vampires are the rulers in my universe, I’ve turned humans into
mere
cattle and, for some vampires, they’re prey. The Thorns treat the humans who
work for them well, but it doesn’t stop them from using mortals as game for
their hunts. Unlike a typical hunt though, the Thorns don’t allow their
clients
to kill what they catch. It’s one of the rules the family lives by, and uses
to
run their ranch.

The Thorns are the ultimate law on their ranch, which comes into play in BULLS & BLOOD, and the other books in the series. Each of the six brothers will come to realize that maybe the rules aren’t as important as loving someone. Breaking the rules has never been Wesley’s way…until he meets Mino.

Rule Number Two that the Thorn brothers live by is that employees of the
ranch
are off-limits. Wesley has always followed that rule, never stepping out of
his
comfort zone to do more than talk to one of the cowhands that help run his
family’s ranch. Being a vampire makes it easier, since he doesn’t go out
during

Mino’s been interested in the youngest Thorn brother since he began working
at
The Blood & Thorn Ranch. It’s those stupid rules that hold him back from
