Season's Stories from Harlequin and Silhouette

Welcome to my first column at Fresh Fiction. I'll be bringing you information about series romances....those books that are only on the shelves for four weeks. The books that hooked many romance readers over the years.

In my opinion this is the best time of year to purchase books from Harlequin and Silhouette for presents or simply for you.

When the weather drops I prefer staying inside, with a fire burning, a warm blanket, a mug of hot chocolate with those tiny marshmallows (I love those!) and a great romance novel.

As soon as the decorations go up and those cute holiday TV commercials and Christmas shows come on, I'm ready to read a Christmas romance novel, for me there's nothing like falling in love during Christmas.

The best selections of Christmas Love Stories are of course from Harlequin. You can find Harlequin books at your local Wal...Mart, Target or bookstore. If you log onto their web site www.eharlequin.com not only can you find the same books that have already been taken off the shelves or sold out, you'll see a list of books to come out in the next couple of months, and you'll save about 20% on average.

Harlequin doesn't just host Christmas Love Stories this time of year. You can also find a classical romance story in a historical setting, with NASCAR characters, or contemporary tales.

All of the books mentioned are available in December of 2007 but you can log online and order them from eHarlequin. The first book I'm going to recommend, as a great holiday read from Harlequin Blaze is A Blazing Little Christmas by Joanne Rock, Kathleen O'Reilly, and Jacquie D'Alessandro. This book has three different stories sure to spice up your holiday. The first story is Holiday Inn Bed; an engaged couple decides to play out their favorite fantasy...Do Not Disturb. They decide to spend the weekend in their private hotel room.

The second story is His for the Holidays; this story is about Heather and Jared who reunite in the sack for some holiday sex!

The last story featured in this book is Dear Santa... A secret Santa invites Rebecca to go on a holiday getaway with him, of course she jumps at the opportunity. And she finds her secret Santa to be a blast from the past.

The next read to caught my attention by its title: Strokes of Midnight by Hope Tarr. Her three New Years Wishes include:

  1. Hit the NYT bestseller list with latest novel
  2. Find a great guy and start living a perfect life
  3. Try to stay in her own bed!

Will she be able to stay in her own bed? Or will she meet a man who changes all that before she's made her New Year wish? Talking in Your Sleep... by Samantha Hunter "Get out of my dreams, get into my bed! Oh, that's so good...touch me right there..." Is this his ultimate fantasy or is it reality? You'll have to read to find out.

And my last pick of the season is another Harlequin Blaze What She Really Wants for Christmas by Debbi Rawlings. Read an excerpt from What She Really Wants for Christmas.

Harlequin Everlasting Love series have two books coming out December 2007 with Christmas themes: A Spirit of Christmas by Margot Early. A dog appears on Keti's doorstep on Christmas Eve, is this a prophecy or just luck? When she sleeps the ghosts or her past, present, and future appear in her dreams...or is it a dream?

The second Everlasting Love is Christmas Presents and Past by Janice Kay Johnson. Will and Dinah exchange Christmas gifts every year, even when they aren't together as a couple. The first present Will ever gave Dinah showed her that he believed in her dream of becoming a chef. The gift exchange comes to a stop after a tragedy. When an unexpected gift shows up on Dinah's doorstep is it from Will? Read an excerpt of Christmas Presents and Past.

Thanks for joining me this month. Please let me know what you think about my new column at Fresh Fiction and happy holiday reading...Tonya

Re: Season's Stories from Harlequin and Silhouette

Tonya, I am looking forward to reading more columns you write throughout the year. I just went to Target and picked up a couple of the Harlequin romance,s I can't believe how many great Christmas stories they have out this year, but I limited it to just one this time. Next time I will defintely have to pick up a couple books.

It will be nice to hear what you would suggest, maybe it will help me choose.

Can't wait to read more. :)

Will look forward to more columns from you!

Tonya, I'm so excited about your new column. Great info; have needed this for a while. This will make sure we don't miss an important book. Again, congratulations on your success; I look forward to your column each month.

Hi Tonya:

I enjoyed reading your column, it was very lively and it made me want to go out and buy some holiday romance books! I particularly liked the title, "Holiday Inn Bed" - It reminded me of a Frank Sinatra song that started, "A room without windows, a room without doors..."
(Gloria Gay 1:40pm December 4, 2007)

First, I want to thank everyone who checked out my first column and who left a comment.

There were so many books to choose from but I picked my favorites. I suggest A Blazing Little Christmas by Joanne Rock, Kathleen O'Reily, and Jacquie D'Alessandro. It features three Christmas stories.

Happy reading and please check back next month for more updates.

I can hardly wait to read Janice Kay Johnson's new release. I love all her books, most especially her Hawaiian historicals.

Tonya

In case you didn't know Harlequin also has a series line called Harlequin Kimani Romance which like all the other series lines stay on the shelves for one month. In December, each of the four books were Seasonal Stories with special covers.
(Wayne Jordan 7:19pm January 11, 2008)

Thanks Wayne Jordan for telling me about Harlequin Kimani Romance. I had no clue about that line and I will be sure to check it out and hopefully include it in my March column.
