I've been asked by Fresh Fiction for comments about my February release, WILDEST DREAMS, published
both in print and as an e-book by Sourcebooks. I am glad to oblige, and thanks
for asking!
WILDEST DREAMS is a
western romance set in the wilds of an unsettled 1800's Montana. It is a love
story told through the eyes of Luke and Lettie Fontaine, beginning with when
they meet on a wagon train and ending a lifetime later with the Fontaine name
being prominent in Montana and representing the owners of one of the biggest
cattle ranches in Big Sky country.
The life Luke and Lettie share depicts what it was like to settle an untamed
American West, including outlaws, Indians, the severe elements of hot summers
and bitter winters, wild animals and the struggle of survival against it all.
Throughout the story it's the love these two people share that holds them
together through danger and personal loss that could easily tear two people
apart; as well as learning to face tragedy from the past that inevitably catches
up with them.
The American West and Native Americans is all I write about, and I've done it
over the past 30 years with 57 published novels. I have been asked to write in
other genres, but this is the one I love and what I will write about as long as
God allows me the wits and physical ability to do so. I do a lot of research
for my books, always wrapping my fictitious characters into real history and
real locations.
I used to love this subject as a kid and read a lot of YA historical, romantic fiction, one of my favorites was Torrie by the Johnsons. (Lisa Elwood 3:56pm March 29, 2012)
Thank you for your post, Roseanne. "Wildest Dreams" sounds like a fine read. And I love the cover---a real eye-catcher with those rich but realistic colors. It evokes romance, and at the same time captures the spirit of the Old West.
Good luck with your new release! (Mary Anne Landers 6:24pm March 29, 2012)
Stories which have Native American Indians offer a glimpse into a way of life I'd like to get to know better. I like learning about their customs and traditions, the medicine man and how natural cures are passed down. Great cover depicting the West and the setting where conflicts may be settled and love traces a trail of wanting to return to the old days. (Alyson Widen 6:27pm March 29, 2012)
I love books set in the Western part of the U.S. There is just something romantic about the lives lived in that rugged part of our country. "Wildest Dreams" soundd intriguing. (Gladys Paradowski 8:13pm March 29, 2012)
I love old-fashioned love stories, but have never read any going back quite this far in time. I am really looking forward to it. I know even though it was a simpler, harder, time, the love stories seemed to be much more sincere and purer in their content, and you tend to get carried away in the story line. My Husband loves to read old Westerns, and it's just quite possible that he'd even enjoy reading it!! After writing as many books as you have, you've got to be doing something right!! Congratulations on your latest baby!! The cover is very well done, too!! (Peggy Roberson 9:34pm March 29, 2012)
I love stories with a Western setting. There is no more romantic area than the American West. (Marilyn Nowlin 9:36pm March 30, 2012)
