1--What is the title of your latest release?
LOVE TO HATE YOU
2--What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?
An independent bookstore owner looking for true love and a cynical big-chain CEO launch a bookstore-war that may challenge everything they believe about love.
3--How did you decide where your book was going to take place?
I wanted to juxtapose a city with a beach town, so the first part of Love to Hate You takes place in the historic section in a town in Connecticut where the brick-front shops are adorned with striped awnings and overflowing flowerpots. I wanted the neighborhood to feel like a small town in a big city to mirror my heroine (Summer), who owns a small romance and beach reads independent bookstore, compared to the big-box bookstore going in next door that my hero (Wes) owns. She is a warm and open person who believes in true love, and he is a grumpy, boardroom tycoon who believes love is a weakness.
4--Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life?
Absolutely. I love how quirky and loyal Summer is. She’s a hopeless romantic who is obsessed with baked goods–kind of like me.
5--What are three words that describe your protagonist?
dreamer, snappy, warm
6--What’s something you learned while writing this book?
That a found family can be stronger than a born family. Which is a lovely idea since my household is an adoptive one.
7--Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?
I edit as I go. It helps me to get to know the characters better when I nail the first half of the book.
8--What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?
When I go, I wouldn’t mind if it was in a cupcake explosion!
9--Describe your writing space/office!
I write on my couch with my cats on my lap. It’s my favorite place in the house.
10--Who is an author you admire?
Lately I have been devouring Emily Henry’s books!
11--Is there a book that changed your life?
Honor’s Splendour by Julie Garwood.
12--Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)/Or, for indie authors, when you decided to self-publish.
I was at my best friend’s house and I knew the second I saw my agent’s name come up on the screen that I’d sold a book. I wasn’t sure which book because I had several out. I was so happy I started crying, and I’m talking the ugly cry. I doubt my agent understood a word I was saying.
13--What’s your favorite genre to read?
Romcoms
14--What’s your favorite movie?
Strictly Ballroom
15--What is your favorite season?
Fall
16--How do you like to celebrate your birthday?
Indian takeout, a good movie, and white frosted cake.
17--What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?
Below Deck! It is deliciously dramatic.
18--What’s your favorite type of cuisine?
Indian food
19--What do you do when you have free time?
Read and walk my new puppy, Biggie Smalls
20--What can readers expect from you next?
My upcoming book BIG CHICK ENERGY comes out in 2026 and is a hysterical and timely mix of Below Deck meets Nine to Five. A former luxury yacht steward and newly hired executive assistant, who is trying to find stability in the aftermath of her sister’s death, and a grinch of a boss who sends his assistants cowering in terror, engage in an all-out office war based squarely on loathing, lamenting, and never-ending pranks. Oh, and hormones, there are a lot of those flying around—enough that they begin to blur the line between hate and love.

A modern twist on You've Got Mail starring an indie bookstore owner looking for true love and a cynical CEO who may ruin everything, from New York Times bestselling author Marina Adair.
Summer Russo believes in the power of destiny and true love . . . which might be why she sank her entire life savings into reviving a nearly-bankrupt independent bookstore that specializes in romance novels and beach reads. But just as she starts to get the hang of the new business, a big-box bookstore moves in next door, run by the grumpy and arrogant Kingston, who seems determined to ruin her day (and her livelihood).
Wes Kingston is a cut-throat CEO who doesn't believe in love — or failure. He runs his business the way he runs his life: alone. And he isn't going to let a fiery femme fatale take him down. Especially when she is dead set on stopping the opening of his new bookstore.
At least Summer has her family's annual vacation in Mystic, CT to look forward to as a break from the standoff. But when she arrives at the beachside cabin, she realizes that her usual summer respite may not be so carefree after all. Her sister has brought along not only her boyfriend but his brother, who just happens to be the very same surly-but-infuriatingly-sexy bookstore mogul Summer thought she was getting away from.
The bookstore war is still on, and neither Summer nor Kingston will go down without a fight. But when one thing leads to another and fighting turns to foreplay, both find themselves stuck in a battle for the bookstore — and for their hearts.
