1--What is the title of your latest release?
WE ARE MADE OF STARS
2--What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?
One week in summer. Eight lives forever changed. Think White Lotus meets Virgin River all set at a cozy mountain inn.
3--How did you decide where your book was going to take place?
The Inn featured in the novel, VIS TA VIE, is based on a real-life inn in Vilas, North Carolina. We spend our summers in the gorgeous mountains there, and it was a natural fit to create the story on the property. The inn offers gourmet dinners prepared at a communal table with strangers and friends, and I knew I had to write a story based on the interactions and connections. So much comes to light at an intimate table. Especially one where they serve a lot of wine.
4--Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life?
Every single one of them with the exception of Adam Kravitz. Even Cassidy, with all her overbearing narcissism drew on my compassion. I'd want to help her.
5--What are three words that describe your protagonist?
There are so many, but this applies to most of them: secretive, hurting, and hopeful
6--What’s something you learned while writing this book?
That I will NEVER write 6 POVs ever again. It was a nightmare to keep track of the individual threads and character arc. I also learned how we are all made of stars—connected in some of the most beautiful, poignant ways. And
7--Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?
The first draft is throwing garbage onto the page. After the foundation is in place, I go back and polish and shape.
8--What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?
Oh gosh, that's a tough one. It used be nachos with extra jalapenos, but I've had to modify my diet recently. Chicken and broccoli. I know. Boring.
9--Describe your writing space/office!
My corner office overlooks the water and it's soothing and inspirational. I'm surrounded by books and a stand/sit desk. I spend a large portion of my day in that spot. Candles, family photos, and motivational reminders cheer me on.
10--Who is an author you admire?
Any author who takes the time to write an entire book is my hero. It's not easy. If you really need a name, I'll go with Wally Lamb. He writes difficult subjects and manages to make the most flawed characters human and sympathetic.
11--Is there a book that changed your life?
Honestly, reading Danielle Steel, Sidney Sheldon, and Judy Blume as a child changed my life. They gave me the escape from a sometimes lonely childhood. I wanted to jump inside their stories and disappear. Now I want to give that gift to my own readers.
12--Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)/Or, for indie authors, when you decided to self-publish.
I was at my sons’ lacrosse game when my agent called with the offer, and I screamed like a maniac. It was a pinch-me moment. Publishing has a lot of these moments, but there are also some disappointments. It comes with the territory.
13--What’s your favorite genre to read?
Literary, Book Club Fiction, and Thrillers
14--What’s your favorite movie?
I can watch The Notebook and Pretty Woman 1,000 times. I know the dialogue by heart.
15--What is your favorite season?
Fall in North Carolina. Or football season!
16--How do you like to celebrate your birthday?
My husband's is the day before mine so there's usually a lot of celebrating. Next year, I'd like to be away with our grown children and hopefully their girlfriends. Low key.
17--What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?
I Wish You Were Here. It's based on the book by Renee Carlino, and I LOVE all of Renee's books.
18--What’s your favorite type of cuisine?
Italian
19--What do you do when you have free time?
When I’m not writing, I’m reading or listening to a great book, doing Pilates, yoga, or taking a beach walk with our dog.
20--What can readers expect from you next?
An epic love story.

Secrets, lies, and second chances are served up beneath the stars at a picturesque mountain getaway in this powerful novel about love and family by the bestselling author of This Is Not How It Ends.
At the Vis Ta Vie inn, Reneé and Jean-Paul De La Rue face the daunting decision to close their beloved home for good.
They’re not the only ones going through a season of change, though. Their guests include three couples in crisis: Hollywood celebs Leo and Penny are spending their silver anniversary together while on the cusp of divorce. Lucy, a practical-minded therapist, and Henry, an astronomer with his head in the stars, are struggling to find common ground. And former lawyer and current stay-at-home mom Sienna and charismatic sports agent Adam look perfect but are hiding rifts of their own. Thrown into the mix are self-absorbed single mother Cassidy and her sullen fifteen-year-old daughter, Rosalie.
The stage is set for a week of betrayals, regrets, and shocking truths that can rend the heart or heal it. Vis Ta Vie—live your life—captures what it means to love through the darkness, and to find the light even after the magic fades.
