Borders Wants to find a buyer -- for itself!

Borders isn't just looking for customers to buy its books. The nation's
second-largest book store chain says it's looking for someone to take over the
entire business.

Borders announced Thursday that it's exploring the possibility of putting itself
up for sale.

Its stock price has fallen 66 percent since last year, even as it slashed prices
and overhauled the way it displays books to try to lure more customers.

Borders is having a hard time fending off competition from Barnes and Noble, the
No. 1 book store chain.

It's also losing customers to the book aisles of Wal-Mart and online book sellers.

Re: Borders Wants to find a buyer -- for itself!

They just built a beautiful Borders book store near us in Sandusky Ohio. It is beautiful.
Hope it makes it.

I believe the reason Border's is having trouble is Barnes and Noble offers a ten percent discount for twenty-five dollars a year. Borders doesn't, sure you get twenty percent coupons every once in a while. I'd rather buy a book with ten percent off and every once in a while thirty-five percent at B&N

Too bad Borders didn't follow Waldenbooks' practice of the 10% of everything with it's membership card.

I'd be really upset if borders goes down. It has a better selection of books than B&N.

Borders is still my favorite book store, it has it all over B&N. Better prices, people working there are more pleasant, more helpful, more knowledgeable, and willing to go that extra mile to find that special book you are looking for. Borders is all for it's customers, PLEASE Borders, keep going we'll back you up! You're a much better, nicer, and you have alot better selection of books. Please don't change, so you eventually end up like B&N. Believe me, your customers will pay in the end.
