My perfect Valentine's Day was quite simple. After 27 years of marriage, my
husband gave me peace and quite and me time. No phones to answer, no chores to
do, not catering to anyone but myself. He tended the cats (4), took my
daughter to school, made the coffee(served with scones). I slept in, had my
coffee and scones in bed. He then told me he would do anything I wanted for
the day.....WOW here we come bookstores. He went to the 5 bookstores,
patiently waiting while I looked at each store. Bought me a couple of books.
We then went out to lunch. Afterwards it was time to pick up our kiddo. He
dropped me at home with instructions to NOT do a thing. When my daughter and
husband came home, they decided on what to cook for dinner. I read. After
dinner, my husband ran a bubble bath, lit candles and told me to relax in the
tub. He then brought my books, a glass of chilled pinot and a few truffles!!
When I re-entered the real world the next morning....I was renewed, awed and
excited. It made the anticipation for next year and incentive to get thru the
daily grind with a better attitude easier.
