I love this song because it fits the main male character, Christopher, perfectly. He’s the illegitimate son of a duke, considered an outcast by society. When he meets Elizabeth, the daughter of an earl, he’s struck by her compassion and bright character. He would give anything to be with her, but it seems impossible.
The song is about an immortal angel who is ready to give up his immortality to stay close to the woman he loves. It can’t be more romantic than that!
Red Right Hand by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
This song became the theme of the Peaky Blinders, and it fits the mood of the show perfectly. I love it because Christopher, after his father’s death, is shun by his half-brother, who is the legitimate heir to the dukedom. Alone and with no protection, he joins a gang in Whitechapel and become a famous gangster, the King of Whitechapel.
Hopelessly Devoted to You by Olivia Newton-John
Grease is one of my favourite musical. Old but gold, and this song is perfect for Elizabeth because she’s in love with Christopher even though her parents and everyone around her keep telling her she must stay away from Christopher.
And of course, she doesn’t stay away from him…
Never Enough by Loren Allred
Beautiful song, stunning voice!
Elizabeth has the chance to live her comfortable, rich life if she forgets about Christopher and promises to never see him again.
But as the song “all the shine and all the stars” will never be enough for her without Christopher.
Bella Notte from the film Lady and the Tramp, sung by George Givot and Bill Thompson.
This is the song of the famous “spaghetti scene” in Lady and the Tramp. Sigh. I love that film. It sends a powerful message about love being above class differences, which is perfect for a love story between the daughter of an earl and a gangster. Although there are no spaghetti in my book.
Victorian Outcasts #7

Dartmoor, 1891
Nothing exciting ever happens in Elizabeth’s life, especially when she stays on her family’s estate in Dartmoor. Endless moorland, cold weather, sheep, and only her governess for company.
Boring.
So when Christopher, a boy she’s never met, arrives at her house to stay for a while, she’s curious and thrilled. Her parents are clear, though: she mustn’t talk to him under any circumstances. Officially, he isn’t there. He’s confined to a room in the guest wing, never to meet anyone. Elizabeth is supposed to pretend he doesn’t exist. So of course, she wants to talk to him.
Freshly expelled from Eton for a crime he didn’t commit, Christopher is the illegitimate son of a duke. He’s considered an uncomfortable, embarrassing acquaintance no respectable lady should ever deal with.
But when Elizabeth and Christopher find themselves alone for a few days in a cottage during the country’s most powerful snowstorm in centuries, they get close—too close for her parents’ liking.
He’s sent away without the chance to say goodbye to Elizabeth. Only to meet her years later when she’s his half-brother’s bride-to-be.
Romance Historical [Oliver-Heber Books, On Sale: April 29, 2025, e-Book , / ]
Love stories have always captured my imagination. What’s better than two people falling in love with each other? I write steamy romance, usually with a paranormal twist in an historical setting. Add a touch of suspense and mystery and a pinch of darkness. I love stories with strong, sexy heroes and mischievous heroines who pull no punches.
