1--What is the title of your latest release?
ANNA BRIGHT IS HIDING SOMETHING
2--What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?
The Dropout meets Inventing Anna in this cinematic and page-turning summer read! A ripped-from-the-headlines story set in the glossy offices of Silicon Valley startups and NYC new media, Anna Bright Is Hiding Something explores our fascination with female founders breaking barriers—and sometimes behaving badly in the process.
3--How did you decide where your book was going to take place?
I wanted it to be about a Silicon Valley startup so that decided that. And then I wanted to create tension with my second character having to travel outside her comfort zone, so I had her based in NYC. That allowed me also to explore where Jamie works in the world of NYC digital media.
4--Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life?
Definitely Jamie. Definitely not Anna!
5--What are three words that describe your protagonist?
JAMIE: earnest, ambitious, disciplined ANNA: enigmatic, arrogant, bold
6--What’s something you learned while writing this book?
All the stages of an IPO - taking a company public.
7--Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?
I try not to edit too much as I go along. But I always start my writing day rereading what I wrote the prior day and doing minor edits.
8--What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?
Truffle fries.
9--Describe your writing space/office!
I’m lucky to have a dedicated space in my house that has my desk, all my books, and a door I can close. I love my office and have been known to spend entire days in there.
10--Who is an author you admire?
Margaret Atwood. She’s so badass.
11--Is there a book that changed your life?
I was starting to think about becoming an author when I read Kelly Corrigan’s The Middle Place. There was something about the structure and content of that book that resonated so much with me and really encouraged me to write my own book.
12--Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)/Or, for indie authors, when you decided to self-publish.
I’ve had several instances that would qualify as “the call” that changed the trajectory of my writing career. The main two were when my agent Carly Watters called to offer me representation for what was my third novel and then when she called to tell me I had been offered a two-book deal. Those moments were everything. I still remember them and am so grateful I’ve had these opportunities.
13--What’s your favorite genre to read?
Speculative fiction.
14--What’s your favorite movie?
The Martian.
15--What is your favorite season?
Summer.
16--How do you like to celebrate your birthday?
I have a summer birthday and I love having cocktails and dinner outside with friends.
17--What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?
Oh boy - how much space do I have. I could go on and on but recent favorites include Bridgerton, Succession, Daisy Jones & The Six, The Dropout, Julia, Fisk, and two movies I recently loved were American Fiction and Nyad.
18--What’s your favorite type of cuisine?
All the cuisines. But if I had to pick one, I’d say Mexican. And Italian.
19--What do you do when you have free time?
I love to read, do arts & crafts, hike, throw themed dinner parties, and spend time with my family.
20--What can readers expect from you next?
I’m currently working on a co-authored book with a friend of mine. Hoping I have more to share about it soon!

Anna Bright is committing fraud. But nobody knows it yet. Not the board of her multibillion-dollar company, not her investors, not the public breathlessly anticipating the launch of BrightSpot, and not the media—including Jamie Roman, a hardworking journalist for BusinessBerry. But when Jamie does learn about Anna’s misconduct, she embarks on a bicoastal journey to expose the crimes and make a name for herself as a journalist. It’s not long before Anna learns what the reporter is up to, however—and she’ll do anything to stop Jamie.
Especially now that BrightLife’s IPO is days away.
