Take Us Out to the Ballgame
Whether your character plays it, watches it, or can't stand it, we're all about
America's Pastime! We need an upbeat, sweet story between 50-70,000 words that
hits a homerun in our hearts. Think Fever Pitch or A League of Their Own and
include some fierce females, studly shortstops, or a coach that won't quit. It's
a Fall Classic here at Avon!

What walks the halls of Stormclyffe House?
For fifty years, Stormclyffe House has stood silent. What happened there that
has caused it to stand empty for so long? What secrets does it hold? And why has
no one been able to spend more than a few nights behind its walls? Here is your
chance to tell us what has happened - and scare the socks off the Avon editors.
Make us afraid to fall asleep at night.
Just remember: you need to also have a love story: past, present...or, perhaps,
both.

Home for the Holidays (also known as, "Gain Ten Pounds at the Holidays!")
Are you happily home for the holidays or hiding out from the relatives? Either
way, come join us at Avon Books, and show us your charming Thanksgiving stories.
These should be filled with all the warmth of the season, but a few wacky
relatives (or neighbors) would certainly not be amiss. Maybe your heroine falls
in love with the boy next door (who ignored her all through high school), or she
runs into the man of her dreams while fighting over the last can of that awful
cranberry sauce her brother in law insists on eating. Just make sure you include
at least one delicious, time-tested family recipe that we'll be able to use
along with your story.

Five Golden Rings
At Avon, we know everyone loves a good Christmas story. Here's your chance to
join our Yuletide celebration. We're putting together a Christmas anthology,
with everyone's favorite line from "The Twelve Days of Christmas" as our theme!
We're seeking historical novellas of 15,000-20,000 words. It can be the best
Christmas ever or a holiday disaster—just remember one thing: it has to
have a ring. Maybe it's a family heirloom, maybe it's a treasure long-believed
lost to the ages. Heck, maybe it's a ring of fire (any Johnny Cash fans out
there?). Whatever it is, the ring should play a central role in the romance,
whether it's bringing our lovers together or threatening to tear them apart.

NEW YEAR'S EVE AND OTHER DISASTERS!
Oh no, it's New Year's Eve!
Everyone knows New Year's Eve stinks. You get dressed up, filled with hopes for
a fantastic night, and end up crawling home only to find confetti in your hair
and someone's spilled drink on your dress. Still, sometimes surprising things
can happen on New Years—and occasionally love unexpectedly comes your way.
Send us your 15,000-20,000 word stories about New Years—the bad, the good,
and the romantic. Surprise us with how you make your story fit into the theme.
Must be received by September 15th
