School is FINALLY out and summer presents nothing but endless hours of reading!
Of course, I do have a
tiny list of books I have been putting off all
semester,
Mississippi Jack by
L.A. Meyer for example.
However, I
have found
a few newly published books to add to my ever-looming stack.
While perusing the young adult section, I discovered a book by
F.
Paul Wilson entitled
Jack: Secret Histories
a young adult Repairman Jack novel.
Wilson takes the well-loved character from his adult series back to his
beginnings with an
enticing blend of secrets, murders and suspicion. Jack's future as a Repairman
begins during a trip to the New Jersey Pine Barrens with his childhood friends.
When he
stumbles upon a body, along with a strange artifact of unknown origin, Jack
must discover the secrets behind
everything in order to fix anything.
This novel came out on May 27, so readers can buy it now!
The next book to catch my attention was
Catherine Bannerβs
debut novel
The Eyes of
a King. Unable to resist his instinctive power, Leo North begins a journey
that will lead him far from his ordinary life and show him the truth about his
own world. Banner began writing this exhilarating story when she was only 14.
The Eyes of a
King, a
captivating book, hooks young readers into the plot with each turning page.
For those of us well versed in the Harry Potter series, the title character in
this next novel will sound familiar.
The Magician: The Secrets to the Immortal Nicholas Flamel by
Michael Scott, is the
second book in the Nicholas Flamel series. I recommend if you have not read the
first
book,
The
Alchemist, you should visit its pages before attempting to crack the spine on
this magical tale. For those readers who have had the pleasure, the second
installment set among the glittering city lights of Paris, continues the
tension and danger of the first book. As the "Book of Abraham the Mage" continues
to elude them, Nicholas and Perenell age one year every day. While their bodies
continue to grow older, it is up to Josh and Sophie Newman to save the
world. Are they up to the task? Regrettably, readers will have to wait until
June 24 to find out.
And so, as I continue to share in Jacky Faberβs daring quest down the
Mississippi River, the publishing world continues to make
my quest of
eliminating my to-be-read pile rather difficult.
Until next time!

Now I have a few more books to add to my TBR pile! I'm going to have to buy another bookshelf!
