When Sara’s Son was released in July of 2007 readers
wrote to ask to hear more about Sara’s son Ryan. My next
Superromance, scheduled for release in July of this year,
Trusting Ryan, will tell his story –
I have to warn you straight off about Ryan. He’s pretty
set in his ways – okay, well, this IS a warning so I’ll
just say it – he’s rigid. He knows what he knows. He
believes what he believes and that’s just that. He’s a
confirmed bachelor and likes it that way. He has plans, a
dangerous and respected position as a special crimes
detective with the Columbus police force, and a cat. No
one tells him what to do. He lives life by his instincts
which have saved lives – his and others. He works nights
by choice so that he can keep his distance from the rest of
the living world. His parents all respect him. Look up to
him. (He has two sets of them, biological and adoptive.)
And worst of all, Ryan is only twenty-two. But if you’re
anything like me, or any of his four parents, you’re going
to forgive him. And love him anyway.
Warning number two: Audrey isn’t twenty-two.
Warning number three: This story, by nature of Ryan and
Audrey’s jobs, has some material not intended for young
readers. Nor is it entirely fiction. The cases that
Audrey and Ryan work on are all taken from real life
circumstances that have been fictionalized.
And now, Ryan has a message for you: “Hi, I’m Ryan. I’m
on my way upstairs to sleep off a thirty-six hour run with
no sleep and just wanted to pop in long enough to say that
I have a feeling you aren’t going to want to put this book
down once you start it, so be sure the stove isn’t on, the
kids are safe, the doors are locked, and work is done for
the day. And if you live alone and don’t have a dog – get
one.”
