1--What is the title of your latest release?

THE WIDOW’S WEB

2--What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?

When tech mogul Brad Jones is found drowned off the Marin coast, his death is quickly ruled a suicide. But his wife, Dr. Anna Jones, a renowned cyber-psychologist, isn't convinced. Driven by grief and suspicion, Anna begins to dig into Brad's past, uncovering secrets that lead her deep into the world of Silicon Valley’s elite.  “The Widow’s Web" is a gripping psychological thriller, revealing the unsettling reality that sometimes our enemies are those we believed we could trust.

3--How did you decide where your book was going to take place?

Choosing the setting for my book was deeply influenced by my personal experiences. Having lived and worked in technology in Northern California for many years, I wanted to explore its unique culture in a fictional way. The dynamic world of Silicon Valley, with its cutting-edge innovations and high-stakes competition, gave me a compelling stage for the narrative.

4--Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life?

Yes! I’d love to hang out with Dr. Anna Jones. She’s smart, loyal and likes her coffee and wine. We’d have fun.

5--What are three words that describe your protagonist?

Resilient, curious, courageous

6--What’s something you learned while writing this book?

I’ve written for children in the past and I found it very freeing being able to fully express the full gamut of emotions in an unfiltered way through adult thriller writing.

7--Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?

Great question! I try to get a first draft done before I edit but have to confess to re-reading and tweaking as I go.

8--What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?

Truffles. Truffles. Truffles. I’ve even looked into trying to train our dogs to hunt for them!

9--Describe your writing space/office!

In our last home I had a writing shed out in the far reaches of the garden, but now we’ve moved and are renovating I’m writing in rotation around the house, finding quiet corners where there aren’t builders.

10--Who is an author you admire?

Terry Hayes of I AM PILGRIM and THE YEAR OF THE LOCUST. His intricate plotting, richly detailed characters, and heart-pounding suspense, keeps me right on the edge of my seat.

11--Is there a book that changed your life?

Yann Martel’s "Life of Pi" was a life-changing read for me. It blew my mind to think of Pi lost at sea on a lifeboat full of zoo animals. The story was so vividly evoked in a painterly way that I felt I was out there too. It kept me awake thinking of what it’d be like to be in the big blue yonder with Richard Parker, the Bengal tiger. It made a profound difference in my thinking on spirituality, survival, and the nature of truth.

12--Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)/Or, for indie authors, when you decided to self-publish.

The email came in from the publisher of Bloodhound Books while I was in the middle of a meeting in London. I’d queried them a month before, and when I glanced at the first line of the email in the summary it read like it was a pass. It was only on the train home that I fully opened the email and read that they wanted to publish ‘The Widow’s Web’. There I am in a carriage of strangers wanting to shout out the great news, instead I had to wait until I got off the train and made it home.

13--What’s your favorite genre to read?

Psychological thrillers. The more twists and turns the better!

14--What’s your favorite movie?

The Shawshank Redemption. I was lucky enough to be at the first test screening with Frank Darabont, the writer and director, in the Stag Theatre up at Skywalker Ranch. I was working for Lucasfilm back then. There were only a handful of us watching. At the end Frank asked us what we thought. Everyone agreed it was the best movie we’d ever seen, and to this day it still is.

15--What is your favorite season?

Summer. I love warmth, sun, long days and everything in bloom.

16--How do you like to celebrate your birthday?

Quietly with close friends and family. It’s in the summer, so an outdoor long lunch is an absolute favorite.

17--What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?

Landman is the latest addiction in our household. We’re all hooked. I’m learning more about the oil industry that I ever thought I would. The characters are fabulous, especially Billy Bob Thornton as ‘Tommy’, and Ali Larter as ‘Angela’.

18--What’s your favorite type of cuisine?

Italian. The freshness, robust flavors and simplicity gets me every time.

19--What do you do when you have free time?

We’ve got a husky and wolf. Both love the outdoors and need long runs and walks, so free time is often spent out in the local countryside. Otherwise, I’m reading novels, meeting up with friends, or headed to a yoga class.

20--What can readers expect from you next?

The sequel to THE WIDOW’S WEB. I’m already underway with it and enjoying the process.

THE WIDOW’S WEB by Susan Moore

Trust no one. Especially those closest to you...

When tech mogul Brad Jones is found drowned off the Marin coast, his death is quickly ruled a suicide. But his wife, Dr. Anna Jones, a renowned cyber-psychologist, isn't convinced. Driven by grief and suspicion, Anna begins to dig into Brad's past, uncovering secrets that lead her deep into the world of Silicon Valley's elite.

As Anna delves deeper, she crosses paths with Scott and Kristy Lyle, influential figures with connections reaching the highest echelons of tech power. The deeper Anna goes, the more she realizes Brad's death is tied to a dark, long-buried secret-one that powerful people would kill to protect. Caught between the dangerous truth and powerful enemies, will Anna risk everything to expose the sinister forces at play?

The Widow's Web is a gripping psychological thriller that explores ambition, betrayal, and the terrifying reality that our worst enemies may be those we trust the most. A must-read for fans of Gillian Flynn and Paula Hawkins, this novel will keep you guessing until the very last page.

About Susan Moore

Susan Moore

Susan Moore was born in the verdant county of Derbyshire. She emigrated to California in her early twenties in search of sunshine and adventure. She found both at Skywalker Ranch, where she worked for the creative force of Lucasfilm. Unable to escape her own destiny, she finally returned home to England and embarked on the long road to becoming an author.

She now lives in Surrey with her husband, daughter, and two busy dogs - a chippet, and her very own wolf pup. She is fascinated by the potential of technology, particularly robots, and is keeping fingers crossed that dragon robots like Fizz will soon become a part of everyday life. She recently received an MA with distinction in Creative Writing from Kingston University.
