1--What is the title of your latest release?
DEADLY REVENGE, Book 3 in the Pearl River Series
2--What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?
Deputy Jenna Hart has vowed to never date a cop again…a fireman maybe, but not a cop. All bets are off when she’s thrown together with TBI, Agent Maxwell Anderson, her old flame from Chattanooga, to stop a madman from destroying her town.
3--How did you decide where your book was going to take place?
I’d wanted to set a book around Chattanooga for a while since I loved the area. It’s a fascinating and beautiful Tennessee setting.
4--Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life?
Definitely! I’ve loved horses since I was a kid and when Jenna isn’t working, she loves to ride her horse, Ace, a Dutch Warmblood.
5--What are three words that describe your protagonist?
Gutsy, fearless, and smart
6--What’s something you learned while writing this book?
I learned how to blow up a dam. Fascinating subject…I called a friend who blows up beaver dams (same principle) and he explained what I needed to do and where to put the charge.
7--Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?
I lay down the suspense line first, editing as I draft, then I go back and add in more romance—it’s much easier to kill off characters than to get them together romantically.
8--What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?
Anything with dark chocolate, preferably truffles.
9--Describe your writing space/office!
My writing space moves. I’m on my screened-in deck listening to the birds as I write this. A little later, I’ll probably move to my office where I have a desk that raises, and even later I’ll probably write in my living room in a rocker-glider.
10--Who is an author you admire?
Elizabeth Goddard. She writes the most amazing romantic suspense books!
11--Is there a book that changed your life?
Other than the Bible, one book changed the way I look at the world. It was Exodus by Leon Uris. I read it more than fifty years ago, but still remember the characters.
12--Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)/Or, for indie authors, when you decided to self-publish.
I was in a big box store, talking to my mother when a call beeped in from my agent. When she told me my publisher had made an offer for my books, I did a happy dance right there in the checkout line. Then I looked at the astonished clerk and said, “They’re going to publish my book!
13--What’s your favorite genre to read?
Romantic suspense—it’s been my favorite ever since I read Airs Above the Ground by Phyliss Whitney.
14--What’s your favorite movie?
Phantom of the Opera It has it all…music, mystery, the Phantom, the star-crossed lovers…sigh…
15--What is your favorite season?
Spring, only because Autumn is followed by winter. Heat doesn’t bother me.
16--How do you like to celebrate your birthday?
I tend to ignore it. lol
17--What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?
Matlock. I love Kathy Bates!
18--What’s your favorite type of cuisine?
Mexican—a restaurant near me has the best mushroom Quesadilla!
19--What do you do when you have free time?
Wait a minute, let me get up off the floor because I laughed so hard…I rarely have free time since I’ve written 18 books in the past ten years. But visiting my family is my favorite thing that I make time for.
20--What can readers expect from you next?
I am excited to be returning to the setting of my first series—Logan Point. There were several characters in the series who had stories I wanted to tell. The first one being Scott Sinclair. He was in Shadows of the Past and had a really messed up life…alcoholic teen, murder suspect…now he’s a recovering addict and was an FBI undercover agent until he was wounded. He’s learning how to shoot with his left hand so he can qualify at the range and return to his old job.
Tori Mitchell is a true crime podcaster whose research freed a man from prison. He’d been wrongfully convicted of murder twenty years ago, and the true murderer is determined to keep Tori from discovering the truth. Woven into the past crime is a current murder with her nephew as a prime suspect.
Pearl River #3
Deputy Jenna Hart has only been working in her sleepy hometown of Pearl Springs for seven months when city officials begin to be targeted by a killer. Twenty years ago, the construction of a dam caused people to lose their land to eminent domain. That wound has not healed with time, and someone bearing a grudge is clearly set on revenge. With the former mayor of Pearl Springs now running for the US Senate, Jenna will have to call in backup to ensure his protection.
That's where Agent Maxwell Anderson comes in. He and Jenna used to work together in the Chattanooga Police Department, and there was even a smoldering fire of attraction. Now they team up to track down the killer before a big political rally that promises to bring not only the former mayor into the crosshairs but hundreds of civilians as well.
As the sparks of romance reignite and the threads of the investigation get tangled when another suspect comes into play, Jenna and Max will have to draw on all of their skills to stay alive and prevent the wave of disaster poised to hit the community of Pearl Springs. The question is, can either of them fully trust that the other has their back?
