1--What is the title of your latest release?
OF GOLD AND SHADOWS
2--What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?
An attractive female Egyptologist and a sought-after handsome bachelor are brought together beneath one roof while threatened by the ancient curse of Amentuk.
3--How did you decide where your book was going to take place?
As an aspiring Egyptologist, my heroine needed to be rooted in an institution of higher learning in England—mostly because I’m an Anglophile at heart. Oxford is one of my favorite towns to visit, hence the setting.
4--Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life?
Absolutely. She’s a spitfire and always up for adventure…as am I.
5--What are three words that describe your protagonist?
Feisty. Creative. Begrudgingly humble.
6--What’s something you learned while writing this book?
I knew Victorians were crazy about Egypt back in the day, but I didn’t realize just how much until I came across an interesting tidbit. Apparently, it was all the rage—if you had money, of course—to invite friends over for a mummy unwrapping party. Yep. You’d simply purchase a mummy, have the cook whip up a dinner for after the unveiling festivities, and have at it.
7--Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?
I’m kind of an editing freak, so I totally edit as I write.
8--What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?
Best writing snack is homemade mango kombucha and plantain chips.
9--Describe your writing space/office!
I write in a loft that overlooks my living room. It’s got a big window that overlooks the rolling hills behind our house, and if you imagine sheep dotting the greenery instead of cows, you’d think you were in England.
10--Who is an author you admire?
Mimi Matthews is one of my faves. She’s so prolific and I love her settings (and characters) … not to mention plots!
11--Is there a book that changed your life?
I read Jane Eyre—best book ever—at an impressionable age, which was a very good thing. Jane taught me to stick up for my beliefs and not cave in even when tempted.
12--Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)/Or, for indie authors, when you decided to self-publish.
Well, you probably heard the squeal that went around the world. The offer came via email and I had to have my husband—an IT guy—make sure it was legit. It was. The rest, as they say, is history.
13--What’s your favorite genre to read?
Historical Romance with plenty of intrigue and action—and preferably set in England.
14--What’s your favorite movie?
The Count of Monte Cristo
15--What is your favorite season?
Autumn
16--How do you like to celebrate your birthday?
With lots of chocolate cake. A visit to a winery is always a win as well.
17--What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?
Ooph. That’s tough! So many choices. Just to mix things up a bit, let’s go with my favorite podcast, which is The Confessionals by Tony Merkel. You never know what he’s going to be talking about, but you do know it’s going to be weird.
18--What’s your favorite type of cuisine?
Indian. I have a friend from southern India and she is an amazing cook.
19--What do you do when you have free time?
I’m an avid gardener—food and flowers. I’m currently working on a proper English garden in my front yard.
20--What can readers expect from you next?
The sequel to Of Gold and Shadows is Of Silver and Secrets which is due out in 2025. Here is a blurb:
The mistress of a derelict estate in need of funds and a down-on-his-luck college professor team up together to unearth precious artifacts—but both are hiding more secrets than a Roman dig.
EVA INMAN inherits the family home, the well-respected Inman name, and a property that’s falling down around her ears. Worse, the taxes are due. But she can’t lose this house, not after making a deathbed promise to her father that she’d manage it just fine. About the time she’s ready to sell the family furniture, it’s discovered there just might be some valuable Roman artifacts buried on her land.
Cambridge assistant professor BRAM WEBB arrives to lead the dig, bringing more than just his expertise in ancient artifacts. He comes with an innovative methodology, a quick wit, and handsome good looks. It’s easy to like him, but Eva learns he may not be all that he seems…and when she finds out he is suspected of stealing relics from another dig, she wonders if he might be out to rob her too—and then things start to go missing.
Time's Lost Treasures
A Victorian Historical Romance with Mystery and Intrigue Set in Oxford, England
In 1888 Victorian England, Ami Dalton navigates a clandestine dual life. By day, she strives to establish herself as a respected Egyptologist, overcoming the gender biases that permeate academia. But with a heart for rescuing black-market artifacts, she is most often disguised as her alter ego, the Shadow Broker.
After eight years in India, Oxford's most eligible bachelor, Edmund Price, has come out of the shadows to run for Parliament and is in search of an Egyptologist to value a newly acquired collection. Expecting a renowned Oxford professor, Edmund instead finds himself entangled with Ami, the professor's determined daughter. As they delve into the treasures, their connection deepens, but trouble emerges when a golden griffin--rumored to bear the curse of Amentuk--surfaces and they're left to wonder if the curse really is at play, or if something more nefarious is hiding among the shadows. . . .

She resides in the frozen tundra of Minnesota, where she teaches history and writing classes for a local high school co-op. An Anglophile at heart, she runs away to England every chance she gets, under the guise of research. Really, though, she's eating excessive amounts of scones while rambling around a castle.
