To celebrate Elizabeth Rose’s new book BEWITCHED – the second book in her Portals of Destiny series, we here at Fresh Fiction thought it would be a fun way for readers to get to know her characters better (from her many many fab books) to play a little game we call "The Character Most Likely". If you're new to her Portals of Destiny series – It’s a mix of fantasy and historical romance. Elizabeth Rose is free to select her answers from any series.
Most likely to hold a grudge longer than anybody else?
- That would have to be Reed Douglas, my hero from Reckless Highlander, Book 3 of my Legendary Bastards of the Crown. He is a triplet and also the last of the brothers to forgive his father – the king – for wanting them killed as babies, among other things.
Most likely to figure out a way to use an enemy’s strength against him?
- This, I think would be Medea, my heroine from Bewitched. She is a witch sired from good and evil. Most of the time, she is her worst enemy. Medea was first seen in Lady in the Tower (Rapunzel) from my Tangled Tales Series, and has gone on to have her own happily-ever-after.
Most likely to be underestimated?
- Most underestimated is my Wren, my heroine from Lady Renegade, Book 2 of my Legacy of the Blade Series. She is blind, and also the leader of a group of female renegades. Plus, she can still shoot a bow and arrows accurately, but you’ll have to read the book to find out how.
Most likely to have confidence in their abilities?
- Tristan, my pirate hero from Tristan – Book 1 of my Pirate Lords Series. He is confident in leading his crew into battle against his rivals, or on a raid. (He’s even pretty confident with his skills with the ladies. Gavina has gone in disguise aboard his ship as a boy, but Tristan can see right through that.)
Most likely to save the day against all odds?
- Fia Douglas from Highland Secrets – Book 1 of my Secrets of the Heart Series does some amazing things. She is part of the queen’s secret society of strong women. She can also read the body language of friend or foe. Her secret is something that is so powerful, she can use her talents to either start or stop a war.
Most likely to have the coolest otherworldly powers?
- I think this would be Brynn, my heroine from The Dragon and the Dreamwalker, Book 1 of my Elemental Magick Series. She is an elemental of fire and also a dreamwalker. She can control fire and make it appear at will, getting her strength from it. (Just don’t get her around water since that steals her energy and can kill her.) She also has the ability to dreamwalk, which is her astral body leaving her physical one during sleep and traveling wherever or to see whoever (the hero) she wants.
Most likely to be misunderstood?
- I think this would be Darium Blackseed, my hero in Bedeviled – Book 1 of my Portals of Destiny Series. Darium is a Sin Eater. Even though he takes on the sins of the dead so their soul has a chance to go to The Haven, he gets a bad rap. But Talia-Glenn, a fae, sees him in a whole different light. He is capable of so much more, and you’ll find out what I mean when you read his story.
Most likely to dazzle their admirers with snazzy battle skills?
- My show-off would have to be Logan MacKeefe from Highland Steel, part of my Highland Chronicles Series. He has a good trick, which is flipping the opponent’s sword out of their hand, and of course my heroine, Lady Rhoswyn wants to learn it.
Most likely to bounce back quick from an injury?
- This would have to be Orrick, from Keeper of the Flame. He is immortal, and any injury is healed immediately. He also lives forever, and this have proved to be the worst thing that has ever happened to him, since he has had to watch those that he loved, die, while he lives forever.
Most likely to choose love over duty?
- A) This would have to be Aidan MacKeefe from Aidan – Book 2 of my Madman MacKeefe Series. He is guardian of the Stone of Destiny – the Scot’s coronation stone. But when he falls for the spunky, beautiful Effie MacDuff, love stands in the way of duty. He is duped and she is able to steal the stone away from him. (Not without good reason, of course.)
Most likely to prefer a cloak of invisibility to super-duper sword or other instrument of battle?
- Well, my hero, Perseus has all of these actually. The Oracle of Delphi, from my Greek Myth Series is a romantic retelling of Perseus and Andromeda and the slaying of Medusa. He has a helmet of invisibility as well as a sword of the gods and the shield of Athena. So there we go!
Most likely to be seduced by an act of kindness rather than a pretty face?
- I think this would be Sir Stefan de Bar, my hero of Beast Lord – Book 3 of my Tangled Tales Series. This is a retelling of Beauty and the Beast. So when Stefan starts to look and act like a beast, Lady Bonnibel’s kind actions mean more to him than even her pretty face.
Most likely to compromise for the greater good?
- This would be Lady Summer from my book Summer’s Reign, part of my Seasons of Fortitude Series. Summer has done something selfless in marrying the baron, to help out her brother, Reed, so he could marry the woman he loved. This book is a murder mystery too, so put on your sleuth hat before you start reading.
Most likely to have the most unique talent or job?
- This one is a three way tie. First off, in Mistletoe and Chain Mail, part of my Holiday Knights Series, Sir Adam de Ware is a spy, sent by the king. But that’s not the unique talent. He can cook! And he uses his skill on a Lady Eva who loves to eat, in order to lure from her, all her secrets.
- Next, we have Lady Amethyst from the book entitled Amethyst – part of my Daughters of the Dagger Series. She is not only book-smart, but she’s learned lots from her uncle who is a master mason. Therefore, when her uncle’s assistant drops dead, the bishop, at her request, sends her to be the assistant to the master mason, in building the hero’s castle.
- And last but not least, we have Nash MacKeefe from Highland Sky, part of my Highland Outcasts Series. While trying to earn his way back into the clan, as a punishment he is sent to his enemy’s camp to help repair and thatch the roofs after a battle. Kellina, my heroine knows all about thatching roofs and Nash is there to learn . . . that is, if she doesn’t kill him first!
That’s it for now. I enjoyed answering these fun questions and hope everyone will enjoy my 100 plus books! Please stop by my website to find out more.

Portals of Destiny #2
Can love conquer the darkness to let the light shine through?
Rhys Blackseed is a knight favored by the king of Kasculbough in the land of Mura. When a portal opens and two women and a dragon come through, his orders are to kill them. Magic is prohibited on Mura. Three kings fight for total control. Rhys is loyal to his king, but how can he kill the beautiful witch named Medea when all he really wants to do is kiss her?
Rhys holds and hides the power of extreme strength, however, all the strength in the world isn’t enough to fight off dark magic or a dragon. Others warn him against Medea, but he’s seen a spark inside her that he believes he can turn into a flame. The race is on to capture the dragon and send it and the witches back through the portal before all of Mura is doomed. In order to do this, Rhys must first convince the witch that she really wants to leave, when all he desires is for her to stay.
Medea de Bar is the daughter of an evil witch, and born from both dark and light magic. After the death of her mother, a struggle inside her has kept her isolated from her family. She has never known happiness, and her biggest fear is to live her life alone. Medea is reckless and bored, and decides one day to steal a dragon for a ride. Things don’t go as planned, and she ends up with her sister, Rapunzel, and the dragon, entering a portal to another land. Will this be where she finds her happiness, with the handsome knight named Sir Rhys? Or will the uncontrollable darkness within her only bring about death, destruction, and doom once again?
With love as a contestant in a race against dark magic, only the strongest will win.
