I have to say, I never thought I’d be writing about a pandemic. Right?

For months now, we have been living a lifestyle far from ideal--from lockdown quarantine to regular quarantine, to let’s-expand-our-bubble quarantine.

I’m a reality TV/trash TV junkie, so when this all started, I was glad to binge on train wrecks like Tiger King and Too Hot to Handle. Sadly, during quarantine, I didn’t acquire a new skill or hobby. Some habits, though, did change.

For instance, I’ve always been an audiobook addict--mainly because I used to drive the kids to school and activities, and on my way home I’d always listen to my romance books. But then, with not having to drive anywhere, I could only listen to audiobooks and podcasts when I walked my dog. As much as I love walking my dog (and I have to otherwise he goes crazy), I’m also not training for a marathon. So, in short: I needed another way of reading.

I love my Kindle and am used to buying eBooks versus paperbacks anytime. However, because of distance learning and the amount of my own writing I had to do, I couldn’t add more screen time. I didn’t want my kids to see me plugged on electronics all day long, so the best way was to lead by example. So I ended up buying paperbacks again.

I don’t know if that habit will continue. I love the practicality of eBooks and audiobooks, but for now, paperbacks do just fine and they bring a nostalgia and musings over simpler times.

Writing has also changed my perspective on things. I used to treasure my mornings because that was my prime writing time--with children in school. But now, I need to grab whatever slot I get to add more words to whatever my work in progress is. Creatively, it’s not the best, because some days I have this awesome surge of ideas, but I have to use small installments to bring them to the page.

But on the upside, when I’m told I can’t do something (even if I’m the one doing the talking--weird, I know!), I will only try harder. So I was able to write and promote a fair amount of work and I’m glad to say, 2020 has been my most profitable year as an author.

Which brings me to my last point: staying home has shown people they need to escape, even if it’s via books. I’m grateful for the writers who have published the books, eBooks and audiobooks I enjoy; and I’m even more grateful for the readers who have found entertainment in my stories.

I know I’m privileged to be able to work from home and to have a roof over my head and a husband with a stable job and reliable health insurance to carry us through these dark times. My heart goes out to all who lost people dear to them, or jobs, or sanity. I see you, I hear you, and I wish you comfort, health, love--and some escapism now and then.

The Billionaire's Betrayal

Madam Alexa learned the hard way to stay away from the opposite sex. She deals with men and takes their money, but doesn’t fall for them. Ever. And, she certainly doesn’t screw them--that is, until a billionaire Texan, who proposes a male virgin auction, catches her attention in every way possible. If the deal works, she’ll make enough money to retire and walk away from everything--no regrets.

Brooks Taylor hates deceiving, but he has no other choice. He’s ready to expose the dirty scheme he believes Madam Alexa runs in her glorified brothel. After all, his sister died because of Alexa’s sordid business. But, keeping his mind off Alexa and his hands and his cock to himself becomes more difficult the longer he works with her. When he learns she’s not the villain he believed her to be, it’s too late to come clean. But, stopping the sizzling attraction pulling them together is. . . impossible.

About Carmen Falcone

Carmen Falcone

Carmen Falcone learned at an early age that fantasizing about fictional characters beats doing math homework any day. Brazilian by birth and traveler by nature, she moved to Central Texas after college and met her broody Swiss husband—living proof that opposites attract. She found in writing her deepest passion and the best excuse to avoid the healthy lifestyle everyone keeps talking about. When she’s not lost in the world of romance, she enjoys spending time with her two kids, being walked by her three crazy pugs, reading, catching up with friends, and chatting with random people in the checkout line.
