Re: Silver Silence (7:03pm October 31, 2009):

Oh wow, that sounded fantastic!

Re: Final Approach (6:59pm October 31, 2009):

I'm not sure there are such things as Halloween treats that won’t rot teeth or add to the hips!!

Re: Shades of Twilight (12:30pm September 27, 2009):

I never really understood "virtual signings" and have never been to one. I've been to a number of regular signings though. Only two left a bad taste in my mouth. I can't remember which was my first time at an author signing but I got my first signed books by handing them over to my third grade teacher because the author was his mother-in-law. She signed all of them and also personalised a laminated promotional poster too. :D

Re: A Christmas Ball (5:38pm September 21, 2009):

We open our presents on Christmas Day. None of this Christmas Eve cheating. ;)

Re: The Splendor Falls (5:12pm September 10, 2009):

*drool* Breakfast cheesecake! :D

In Mindy Klasky's Jane Madison trilogy(paranormal chicklit), the main character spends a good amount of time at her best friend's bakery, Cake Walk, which is famous for many delectable offerings such as Lemon Grenades, Ginger-Butterscotch Dreams, Fusion Swirls, Bunny Bites and Almond Lust(shortbread with rich chewy caramel and dark Valrhona chocolate cradling sliced almonds). I'd totally lust for Almond Lust if I wasn't allergic to almonds. Heh! Mindy's got a Cake Walk Bakery charity calendar for sale featuring real recipes(some Cake Walk ones, some faves provided by a variety of authors). :)

Re: Haunting Beauty (12:02pm August 28, 2009):

I think I agree with Karen's comment about it not necessarily being a good thing so maybe if I had to do a do-over, I'd pick something that wouldn't change things too much like fitting in one more visit to my uncle when he was in the hospital.

Re: The Treasures Of Venice (11:52pm August 27, 2009):

Happy early book birthday!

Gosh, aside from the usual, I can't think of anything else I celebrate. Oh wait, back in university, some of my friends invented "Salad Day" and we still all make sure we eat a salad on that day. :D

Re: Feels Like The First Time (7:19pm August 26, 2009):

I'd go as Emma Peel from The Avengers because I'd like to think that like her, I'm a smart gal who can take care of herself. Um also 'cause she had such an awesome fashion sense and a seriously sweet ride(ya, I WISH I her that car)! HA!

Re: The Scot And I (2:33pm June 24, 2009):

I don't mind so much when my favourite authors switch genres or change their writing styles though I might feel a trifle sad because I'm so hooked on whatever they used to do. I tend to give the new stuff a try because I trust the authors know what they're doing. :)

Re: Beneath Bone Lake (12:10pm May 28, 2009):

Oh dear. I normally associate canoes with happy thoughts. :D

Creepy crawlies. If it's creepy and crawly, it scares the heck out of me. Though, if it's contained for example, at the zoo, I'm okay with that. There was this t-shirt I saw online that said, "The ONLY thing we have to fear is FEAR ITSELF...and spiders."

Re: A Little Light Magic (12:43pm May 27, 2009):

I'm the eldest of two however my baby brother(he's always going to be my "baby" brother) is 7 years my junior so for a good while, I considered him a pest. It didn't help that he was born on Mother's day and I had to go to the hospital to give mum her present which didn't get the amount of attention I thought it deserved. Bwa ha!

Re: Mistress (4:38pm May 16, 2009):

I don't mind odd-to-pronounce names as long as they don't go overboard on the consonants and apostrophes. Though having conversations with someone when the two of you pronounce the names differently is a bit awkward. I'm okay with a bazillion characters.

Writing in a book like that? Oh no no no, that's so not okay. I can't even write in textbooks. :)

Re: Killer Cuts (2:22am May 3, 2009):

Oh my! My TBR list is overflowing and it looks like I'm going to have to read faster! Thanks for the list!

Re: Sunset Bay (1:52am May 3, 2009):

I'll have to keep an eye out for The Maiden Heist! I love William H. Macy as an actor and with that fantastic cast, it sounds great!

As for whether or not meeting the artist makes me like or appreciate the work better or less, I've had it work both ways. Most times, yes, it made me love the work much more however, there were a couple of unfortunate occasions where the meeting has left a bad taste in my mouth and definitely cooled my appreciation for their work.

Re: The Madness Of Lord Ian Mackenzie (2:19pm April 27, 2009):

Howdy! :D

Readers like aristocrats, sure...but readers also like pirates! Arrrr! Heh heh heh!

One of my favourite unusual heroes is Miles Vorkosigan from Lois McMaster Bujold's Vorkosigan Saga. His mother was exposed to poison gas in a botched assassination attempt when she was pregnant with him which messed with his bone development. He's 4'9", has had numerous corrective surgeries, a bit of a hunched back and has had much of his fragile skeleton replaced with synthetic bones.

Re: Comfort Food (11:26pm April 25, 2009):

Sara - Did you hear that there's going to be a new Vorkosigan book??!?!

Re: Comfort Food (6:55pm April 25, 2009):

Hmm, I can't think of a series that's ready to be ended oh, except maybe Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time series and hey, that is ending so that's okay. As for series that I really like? Lois McMaster Bujold's Miles Vorkosigan series and Julie E. Czerneda's The Clan Chronicles series. I totally love those two.

Re: The Heir's Scandalous Affair (2:35am April 14, 2009):

I like series books more than stand-alones because I always wonder what happens next to the characters that I've now grown attached to.

Re: Paradise Valley (1:34pm April 11, 2009):

I'm on a huge Urban Fantasy kick right now. The last three books I read were Ilona Andrews' Magic Strikes, Karen Chance's Curse the Dawn and Jim Butcher's Turn Coat. Oddly enough, it hasn't extended to my movie-watching...The last movie I watched was Stone of Destiny.

Re: Last Gasp (5:00pm April 7, 2009):

Heh heh, that reminds me of the time I stayed the night at a relative's farm when I was a kid. I was into mystery novels and tv police procedurals and being the city girl that I am, I was worried that I'd be totally creeped out that we were in the middle of nowhere and it'd be totally quiet and we could all be murdered in our beds and no one would hear our screams(I was a bit dramatic). We were in the middle of nowhere, alright, but no psycho killer showed up and it wasn't quiet at all...the crickets kept me up for most of the night. :D

Re: Dragonbound (6:25pm April 6, 2009):

Since you feel so passionate about Ragona right now, maybe you should go with that. Heck, maybe doing that would get it out of your system and then there'll be room for lots and lots of new historical story ideas...or it could leave room for more fantasy story ideas. :D Either way, the characters are probably not going to leave you alone till you write their story.
