Sweet Memory

Almost 10 years ago my husband (boyfriend at the time) and I had just gotten home from a very relaxing and romantic Valentine's dinner and we were setting up for a night of TV watching. There was this mini series on "Rose Red" by Stephen King that I had watched two previous nights and was on the last installment that night. I watched about an hour when all of a sudden the lights went out. I sat there for a moment hoping that they would blink back on. Five minutes turned into twenty and there I am seething at the power company. I had peeked out of the window earlier hoping for some sign of light from the surrounding apartments but alas it was not to be. Candles were lit and I had parked myself on the couch with a glass of wine. All of a sudden my boyfriend stood up and said, "I have a little present for you". I'm thinking to myself, "he already gave me chocolate, wonder what else there could be". He came back in with his hands behind his back and squatted down in front of me. He said, "I spoke with your father before I purchased this" and then proceeded to open a small square box that held a beautiful engagement ring. I looked back up at him when he said, "your father already gave his blessing. I was hoping to do this next week but tonight just seemed perfect with the lights going out and us sitting here in the candlelight. Will you marry me"? Of course I said yes and now almost ten years later we are still madly in love with two beautiful daughters and so far a lifetime of wonderful memories to cherish.
