1--What is the title of your latest release?

LION OF FIRE, Book 1, Riley Jordan & The Fire Prophecies

2--What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?

Riley Jordan, a college senior, goes from "least likely to succeed" to the world's most dangerous wizard. After uncovering a plot to destroy humankind, Riley is plagued by dark visions of destruction involving an unsuspecting human girl he just met named Emma Clark, who he can't get out of his head. Struggling to control his powers, Riley and his three best friends must portal-hop between magical realms to fight the darkness and discover the truth. Now, with graduation and Armageddon looming, Riley must face his own fears and learn how to protect those he loves before it's too late.

Lion of Fire will take you on your own journey of self-discovery and make you face the reality of one simple truth - we can let others define us, or we can be the hero in our own story. Riley Jordan will make you believe there is a hero in all of us.

3--How did you decide where your book was going to take place?

I picked some of my favorite places from all over the world. I wanted it to feel epic and whimsical, so I picked some of the most iconic cities from all over the world for settings.

4--Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life?

Of course! I love how Riley fights for those he loves. He would do anything to protect his friends.

5--What are three words that describe your protagonist?

Loyal, passionate, and resilient

6--What’s something you learned while writing this book?

Writing a novel is a marathon not a sprint. I was so impatient earlier on, wanting it to be out there in the world. I am thankful that it took me longer than I wanted because I needed the time to make it the best version it could possibly be!

7--Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?

I will usually do a light edit over a few chapters at a time as I go along. Just to make sure I am keeping my thoughts together.  Then a full edit when completed.

8--What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?

I am gluten free so any time I can get a yummy pastry or treat that is gluten free, I’m all for it!

9--Describe your writing space/office!

I love my home office! The design is very feminine and classic with an adjustable desk and separate table and chairs where I do video recording. I have lots of storage space for all my books!

10--Who is an author you admire?

Rick Riordan is my favorite author! I love the world he created with Percy Jackson. He was a teacher so I admire that he sought to create a series that his students could read and fall I love with.

11--Is there a book that changed your life?

I would probably pick The Lightning Thief, the first book in the Percy Jackson series. That book really ignited my passion for fantasy and got me back into writing. It inspired me to work on my novel!

12--Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)/Or, for indie authors, when you decided to self-publish.

I had tried to get a book deal in 2013 when I first completed the book. I got discouraged and just let life and real estate keep me busy. I finally decided in 2020 that it was time to reignite my passion and start working on the book again. I researched self-publishing and saw that it had come such a long way since 2013. That is when I found St Petersburg Press. When I met with Amy Cianci earlier this year, I knew they were the perfect partner to help me finally get my book on the shelf! I was tired of waiting for someone to come “save me” and publish the book. That is why I set a goal of self-publishing by the end of 2023, and here we are!

13--What’s your favorite genre to read?

Fantasy

14--What’s your favorite movie?

Ratatouille

15--What is your favorite season?

Holiday season

16--How do you like to celebrate your birthday?

A yummy meal at one of our favorite restaurants in town

17--What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?

I just finished Book 4 in Laurie Forest’s Black Witch Chronicles series and loving it! Can’t wait for the next one to come out!

18--What’s your favorite type of cuisine?

This is tough, but I think I’d have to go with classic French style.

19--What do you do when you have free time?

Usually you can find me reading or on the beach, also reading.

20--What can readers expect from you next?

I am working on Book 2 in the Riley Jordan series so stay tuned for updates!
