1--What is the title of your latest release?

THE SCOT WHO LOVED HER, book 4 in my Scots of Honor series.

2--What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?

After a brutal fight to secure a vital military secret, Scottish lord Malcolm Gordon, codename Raven, races from Edinburgh to deliver the news to his commanding officer in London. But before he arrives, he crosses paths with a lady’s bullet…

3--How did you decide where your book was going to take place?

I absolutely love Scotland, and one of my favorite cities is Edinburgh. I also feel at home in London. When I decided to write a Regency series, it was natural for me to choose Scotland as a home base – Edinburgh and the countryside specifically, and then also London, because what Regency is complete without a visit to Almacks?

4--Would you hang out with your heroine in real life?

Oh yes! In fact, I’d probably hand her the punch she’s so famous for tossing on the rude blokes who think they can get away with being insulting to her. She is fun and quirky and a definite rebel in society. She’s also got a great sense of humor and loves to read books!

5--What are three words that describe your hero?

Honorable, charismatic, hawt

6--What’s something you learned while writing this book?

I learned that a lot of the English Aristocracy also held Scottish titles. Coming from writing medieval Scottish and English, there were definitive lines drawn in the sand, and it wasn’t necessarily that way in later years. That was one of the reasons I chose for Malcolm and Olivia to each have a parent who resented their Scottish connections.

7--Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?

I write in layers. So my first draft is extremely bare, and the second draft is where I fill in the details, go more into depth with emotions, etc… And the third round is a refining draft.

8--What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?

Ohh… Hmm… If we’re being fancy than I absolutely love gnocchi with lobster. If we’re talking Friday night, I’ll have a brick oven pizza—I love it with arugula on top.

9--Describe your writing space/office!

A complete disaster! LOL! My office has a wall of overfilled bookshelves. Mostly writing craft and research books. All of my reading books are in my library across the hall from my office. I have a massive desk, but you can’t tell because besides my computer, it’s covered in papers and books and pens and sticky notes. I also have white boards covering the walls, and one that is on wheels so I can take it out of the office with me to my dining room where I sometimes work for a change of pace.

10--Who is an author you admire?

Oh, man! There are too many to count! I’ll start from the very beginning – I’m a huge fan of Jane Austen and Charlotte Bronte. They were women writing ahead of their time, and I am endlessly grateful that they forged ahead.

11--Is there a book that changed your life?

The Pillars of the Earth. I’ve read it almost every decade of my life, the first time being when I was 14. The book changes every time I read it depending on what life experiences I’ve had. It’s a timeless medieval that examines the struggles of life and relationships between people, and the tangible ways in which our own behavior and actions can affect people we’ve never met.

12--Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)

The very first time I got the call was actually an email, lol. I just remember being so excited and grateful that someone wanted to publish my words, and that I’d get to share my stories with readers. I’ve had dozens of books published since then, and it never gets old, that feeling. And every time a new book releases I get excited for my readers to dive into a story that I’ve had in my head for so long.

13--What’s your favorite genre to read?

I read everything, including nonfiction. I don’t know that I have a favorite genre, I just have a desire to read. But I do gravitate a lot toward thrillers. I think that’s why my romances all tend to have a suspense angle.

14--What’s your favorite movie?

That’s another tough one! I have so many favorite movies! My all time is probably The Princess Bride, but I’m also a Marvel fan.

15--What is your favorite season?

Autumn! I love the cooler temperatures and my allergies calm down; I also love Halloween!

16--How do you like to celebrate your birthday?

I like to celebrate my birthday with new experiences with people I love. I’m not necessarily a cake and birthday song person but doing something exciting is totally my jam—even if that’s a bonfire with a glass of wine and sharing old stories.

17--What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?

Ohhhh… I love podcasts! I’m totally digging Morbid right now.

18--What’s your favorite type of cuisine?

Probably Italian, though I’m a huge fan of sushi as well.

19--What do you do when you have free time?

I love to sit down outside with a glass of wine and a good book! Even better if I can do that with someone else. A lot of times my girls come sit with me and read too.

20--What can readers expect from you next?

For romance, I’m working on a brand-new medieval series called Highland Lairds, AND a new Regency Scottish series called Distinguished Scots. Both will release next year. I also have another historical fiction novel, tentatively titled Starring Adele Astaire, which is a dual-narrative biographical fiction novel about Adele Astaire’s rise to stardom, juxtaposed with an East End of London dancer struggling to survive.

THE SCOT WHO LOVED HER by Eliza Knight

Scots of Honor #4

The Scot Who Loved Her

Highland war heroes rebuilding their lives grapple with ladies forging their own paths—who will win?

Regency Scotland comes alive in the vibrant and sexy new SCOTS OF HONOR series by USA Today bestselling author Eliza Knight. Scottish military heroes, who want nothing more than to lay low after the ravages of war in 19th century France, find their Highland homecomings vastly contradict their simple desires. Especially when they meet the feisty lasses who are tenacious enough to take them on, and show them just what they’ve been missing out of life. In battle they can’t be beaten, but in love, they all find the ultimate surrender.

After a brutal fight to secure a vital military secret, Scottish lord Malcolm Gordon, codename Raven, races from Edinburgh to deliver the news to his commanding officer in London. But before he arrives, he crosses paths with a lady’s bullet.
Miss Olivia Aston is horrified that she’s shot a man while hunting. Fortunately, he’s still alive. But what to do with the gravely wounded Highlander? Her father despises the Scots and will likely turn him out once he’s discovered. With this latest blunder, there is also the very real possibility that her father will permanently remove her from society as he did her sister. But she can’t simply leave him to die.

Malcolm awakens to discover that the information he carried has been stolen, and there’s no evidence of the culprit, other than a memory of her soft voice and bonny face. Time is running out. Despite his wound (mysteriously stitched), he must now hurry to get to the duke. When he reaches London, Malcolm learns the secrets he carried have already been compromised. He is charged with ferreting out the traitor amidst Edinburgh society. Begrudgingly, Malcolm is thrust into one soiree after another, only to come face to face with his beautiful, charming female assailant.

Will she shoot him again? Though he has no solid evidence against Lady Olivia, she has to be linked to the traitors. He could drag her from the ballroom, present her to the powers that be as a possible suspect, but instead, he takes the dangerous flirtation to the next level. There is something utterly alluring about a woman who holds a weapon as well as she dances. Malcolm’s determined to make Olivia swoon until she confesses everything—that is, until someone makes an attempt on both their lives. What started as a game of cat and mouse turns into a deadly adventure, revealing startling intelligence neither of them sees coming.
