Wedding Glasses

Like most brides, I had special bride and groom glasses for the toast at the reception. They were special to me and years later they were displayed on a book case just inside the front door. I noticed one day they were kinda grimy so I ran them through the dishwasher. To my dismay, I discovered that the words "Bride" and "Groom" were not etched on, but merely painted and what had once said "Bride" now said "rice." I was so upset, but my husband was in grad school so there was no money to replace them.

The following Valentine's day, we had some friends over for dinner, a couple whose anniversary is that romantic day. After dinner, my husband said he had a surprise for me and I unwrapped two lovely ETCHED champagne glasses which were more lovely than the originals. That my scientist husband would get me such a romantic, and really impractical, gift truly showed how much he loves me.
