1--What is the title of your latest release?

ENCHANTED TO MEET YOU

2--What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?

A handsome stranger shows up in plus-sized witch Jessica’s clothing boutique to tell her that she’s the Chosen One, and only she can save her small town from destruction by an evil force. But is he telling the truth? And how is he so cute?

3--How did you decide where your book was going to take place?

I like to write books set in places I’ve actually been so I can get all the details right—unless of course it’s a made-up country like Genovia. This time around, I chose Connecticut. I’ve spent a lot of time in the Fairfield area—which West Harbor, where my heroine lives, is modeled on!

4--Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life?

Absolutely! As the owner of a clothing boutique possessing the magical power to pick out the perfect outfit for anyone, Jessica, my heroine, would be an invaluable friend to anyone!

5--What are three words that describe your protagonist?

Smart, quirky, kind

6--What’s something you learned while writing this book?

I had no idea the first people executed for witchcraft in the United States lived in Connecticut, not Salem, MA, which is what I’ve always assumed! And it happened 50 years earlier than the Salem Witch Trials!

7--Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?

Sadly, I edit every day as I go along. It’s remarkably inefficient.

8--What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?

I love pasta! The creamier and more caloric, the better. One of the worst days of my life was when I was diagnosed with celiac disease and told I can’t eat wheat anymore. Thank goodness for gluten-free pasta!

9--Describe your writing space/office!

I’ve been writing in my bed for more than two decades. I have an office, but I never use it. It’s my husband’s office now.

10--Who is an author you admire?

I love too many authors to list here! But one whose books I think contain just the right amount of magic, romance, and female empowerment is Mary Stewart. Dame Stewart has passed away (she was almost 100!) but her romantic suspense novels live on in reprints—and my heart.

11--Is there a book that changed your life?

Honestly, Sabrina the Teenaged Witch—the comic books! They launched my love of all things witchy. I even named my pet turtle Sabrina when I was 8 years old.

12--Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)/Or, for indie authors, when you decided to self-publish.

I got “the call” in the 1990s after years of sending out manuscripts to agents and publishers. I was on the verge of giving up and going back to school to become an art therapist when a historical romance I’d written under a pen name—Where Roses Grow Wild by Patricia Cabot—was acquired by St. Martin’s Press. I’ve been on deadline ever since!

13--What’s your favorite genre to read?

I love mysteries, but only if they have a romance in them. My favorite books start with a dead body and end with a wedding.

14--What’s your favorite movie?

I love Moonstruck, starring Cher. I’ve seen it so many times, I know all the dialogue by heart! It’s not about witches, but magical things happen in it. Close second: The Princess Diaries, of course. I know all the dialogue of that movie by heart, too!

15--What is your favorite season?

Fall, the Spooky Season, of course!

16--How do you like to celebrate your birthday?

Honestly, my ideal birthday is always dinner-and-a-movie – macaroni-and-cheese and Moonstruck!

17--What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?

I loved You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah on Netflix. Weirdly, I blurbed the book it’s based on years ago, when the book first came out. So fun to see it updated and now on film!

18--What’s your favorite type of cuisine?

Since I’m half Italian, it should be no surprise – Italian!

19--What do you do when you have free time?

Read! If I can read while floating in a raft on a sunny pool, even better.

20--What can readers expect from you next?

Look for Book 2 in the Witches of West Harbor series coming next year!

ENCHANTED TO MEET YOU by Meg Cabot

Enchanted to Meet You

A witchy rom-com from New York Times bestseller Meg Cabot about a plus size witch who must team up with a handsome stranger to help protect her village from an otherworldly force—but will she be able to protect her heart?

It’s Magic When You Meet Your Match

In her teenage years, lovelorn Jessica Gold cast a spell that went disastrously wrong, and brought her all the wrong kind of attention—as well as a lifetime ban from the World Council of Witches.

So no one is more surprised than Jess when, fifteen years later, tall, handsome WCW member Derrick Winters shows up in her quaint little village of West Harbor and claims that Jess is the Chosen One.

She’s the Chosen One

Not chosen by West Harbor’s snobby elite to style them for the town’s tricentennial ball—though Jess owns the chicest clothing boutique in town. And not chosen finally to be on the WCW, either—not that Jess would have said yes, anyway, since she’s done with any organization that tries to dictate what makes a “true” witch.

No, Jess has been chosen to help save West Harbor itself . . .

As Summer Ends, Her Power Grows

But just when Jess is beginning to think that she and Derrick might have a certain magic of their own—and not of the supernatural variety—Jess learns he may not be who she thought he was.

And suddenly Jess finds herself having to make another kind of choice: trust Derrick and work with him to combat the sinister force battling to bring down West Harbor, or use her gift as she always has: to keep herself, and her heart, safe.

Can she work her magic in time?
