Thanks so much for having me here on Fresh Fiction. I’m a
huge fan of your site. I’m excited to be celebrating the release of my book, Story of Us. In the
book, Sophia Strombi is the younger sister of a lifelong friend of Declan James. That isn’t the
only thing that’s supposed to keep her off limits for his heart; he also hires her to be the
manager of his pub, On Dec. With a background in marketing and promotion, Sophia is eager
to bring in new business for the local establishment. One of her ideas is to bring in a speed
dating company. I thought, for this post, it might be fun to have both of my main characters
answer a ‘speed dating’ questionnaire.
I’ve selected ten questions from an online questionnaire that
I’ll put below and answer in character for each of the questions. Let’s see how well suited they
are after the fact!
Sophie Strombi
1. What makes you happy/sad/angry?
Creating a really successful marketing campaign
makes me happy professionally. Personally, being with my family and just sitting back and
watching them all interact with each other brings me a sense of happiness. It makes me sad
when I feel like I’ve let people down and it makes me angry when people try to make my
decisions for me.
2. Where are you from originally?
I was born and raised in Brockton Point, Maine. I left
when I was eighteen to find bigger and better but now I’m home to stay.
3. What kind of music do you like?
I’m pretty flexible. I enjoy listening to an eclectic mix
of rock, folk, pop, and country. I guess it depends on the activity. If I’m working out or
cleaning, I need something high energy.
4. What song best sums you up?
That is a tough question! I’m going with Brown Eyed
Girl. It fits and it’s a happy song.
5. What would be your ideal holiday destination?
I’d love to go to Hawaii. The beaches look incredible.
6. What's the most reckless thing you've ever done?
Leaving home at 18 without a solid plan of where I
was going and how I was going to get there.
7. What makes you laugh?
My nieces and nephews.
8. If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?
Well, I had my chance to choose and here I am, back
in Brockton. So I guess, right here.
9. Exploring or lazing on the beach?
Can I say both?
10. DIY or call an expert?
If I can handle it, I will. I’m not opposed to an expert
if it’s outside my abilities.

1. What makes you happy/sad/angry?
My friends and my godson make me happy. I don’t
think I’ve been sad a lot but when someone else is hurting, I guess. I’m pretty even-keeled so
it’d be the same answer for anger.
2. Where are you from originally?
Right here in Brockton Point.
3. What kind of music do you like?
My preference would be classic rock but I’ve had
some musical acts playing at my pub that have pushed me into some other genres like
country.
4. What song best sums you up?
Wow. Great question. I’m going to go with one that I
have on repeat lately. Burning Man.
5. What would be your ideal holiday destination?
Anywhere hot with nice beaches.
6. What's the most reckless thing you've ever done?
Ha. I’m not sharing that.
7. What makes you laugh?
My friends. My customers. Youtube.
8. If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?
I’m exactly where I want to be.
9. Exploring or lazing on the beach?
A little bit of both.
10. DIY or call an expert?
Expert once I realize I can’t DIY.
Hope you enjoyed their answers. Give it a try with your
significant other and see how well you match. ;-)
Love Unexpected
Declan James has been Brockton Point’s most ineligible bachelor––
happy with his short-term relationships and focusing on his business.
But now that his closest friends have found their happily-ever-afters,
he can’t help but wonder what that might be like. And then Sophia
Strombi shows up on his doorstep.
Sophia’s life is––well there’s no other word for it––a
mess. She’s
grateful to have some work at her brother’s best friend’s bar, and a
place to stay. Since she’s working hard to get her life back on track,
she’s desperately trying to ignore the fact her boss makes her heart
pound in a good way. Wait––no. That’s not good at all.
Besides, she has a huge secret
she’s keeping from everyone––one
that’s a life-changer.
