1--What is the title of your latest release?
DESTRUCTIVELY MINE
2--What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?
Pitching the Webs We Weave series, Phoebe—a trained grifter in a family of grifters—decides to follow her best friend on a new path of honesty by leaving her life of deceit behind. Only problem, her best friend’s older brother tags along to make sure they both don’t get into trouble—and their complicated history becomes even more complicated in this small coastal town.
3--How did you decide where your book was going to take place?
A lot of our inspiration for the small-town setting comes from classic WB shows we watched growing up like Gilmore Girls, Everwood, and One Tree hill. We love cozy coastal New England towns, and Phoebe’s best friend Hailey has a love for the film Mystic Pizza, so we wanted to set it in Connecticut.
4--Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life?
Yes! We’d love to hang with Phoebe who is a ride-or-die BFF, and she has a penchant for horror flicks of all kinds, and we love a good slasher movie.
5--What are three words that describe your protagonist?
Fiery, protective, devoted.
6--What’s something you learned while writing this book?
Since the foundation of the novel is about children who grew up becoming fraudsters and imposters, we learned a lot about confidence men and women and how they’re able to dupe even the smartest of people. They prey on emotions, particularly desperation, in order to swindle marks.
7--Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?
As co-writers, our writing process lends to “edit as we draft” and one of us is constantly editing as the other writes ahead. We both write everything together instead of taking a singular POV each, and by the end, our words are melded so much, we usually can’t figure out who originally wrote what!
8--What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?
Cookies! We love fresh baked cookies, but then also, the seasonal cutouts.
9--Describe your writing space/office!
It’s a little Zen with a lot of fake plants. We like to pretend we’re outside (even if we’re hermits). We can’t have real plants because we kill them too quickly!
10--Who is an author you admire?
Abby Jimenez and Kennedy Ryan! We both love them so much. They continuously write masterpieces that we’re in awe of.
11--Is there a book that changed your life?
For both of us, this is Split by Swati Avasthi. It spoke to us at a young age, and we constantly still talk about how that book made us want to write well-rounded, realistic characters and family relationships.
12--Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)/Or, for indie authors, when you decided to self-publish.
For the Webs We Weave series, this brand-new romance project was attached to the book deal for the Addicted series. We were thrilled (to put it mildly, there were tears and shrieks) that we not only would see our beloved series be republished by Berkley Romance but also that they wanted a brand-new series from us, too.
13--What’s your favorite genre to read?
Anything romance! We’re usually drawn toward New Adult Romance. We also have a strong love for sci-fi/dystopian, sci-fi/fantasy, and romantasy.
14--What’s your favorite movie?
Dead Poets Society and X2
15--What is your favorite season?
Spring and Fall
16--How do you like to celebrate your birthday?
Since we’re twins and we love food, we always celebrate together, and we’ll choose either comfort food and a nostalgic movie or a nice restaurant we usually only frequent on special occasions.
17--What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?
We highly recommend The Pitt on Max. We grew up loving ER, and The Pitt is the closest thing to not only ER but a realistic medical drama out there. It’s absolutely fantastic.
18--What’s your favorite type of cuisine?
Italian and sushi. We could eat both every day (not together though lol).
19--What do you do when you have free time?
We both like to spend time with family as much as we can when we’re free and step into the great outdoors! Which sometimes is just outside our front door.
20--What can readers expect from you next?
DANGEROUSLY OURS, third and final novel in the Webs We Weave series will come after DESTRUTIVELY MINE, and we can’t wait for readers to see how it all concludes.
Webs We Weave #2
