Book Title: REBELLIOUS (Portrait of a Woman book 3)
Character Name: Harmony Jones
How would you describe your family or your childhood?
Don’t get me wrong, I love my family, but they can be a bit much. My father is a big, strapping lumberjack while my mother is a dainty homemaker, and they have the perfect marriage even at the ripe age of seventy. I grew up the baby and only daughter with seven older brothers. Needless to say, my mother didn’t get the girly girl she had hoped for. I am a tomboy through and through.
What was your greatest talent?
My greatest talent is making people laugh. I love to have fun and not take life too seriously.
Significant other?
I don’t have one and that’s the problem. I don’t need marriage. I just want a partner to share life with. The men in my small town are intimidated by me, especially since someone is going around spreading rumors that I’m a witch casting spells to make them love me.
Biggest challenge in relationships?
What can I say, I like to lead. It takes a lot for me to let my guard down and be vulnerable. I’d rather keep it up and stay in control.
Where do you live?
I live in a small, conservative town called Mayflower, Massachusetts.
Do you have any enemies?
Well, our local librarian doesn’t like me selling books of any kind in my shop, but the kind I sell, she wants to ban. Same with our new antique store owner. I can’t help it there are interesting items I find that happen to be old. It doesn’t help that I have a rebellious nature and love to defy the expected norms.
Do you have children, pets, both, or neither?
I don’t have any children, but I have plenty of nieces and nephews. I’ve never really seen myself as a mother, but I’m a super fun aunt.
What do you do for a living?
I own a new age shop called Peace, Love & Harmony with all sorts of unique items.
Greatest disappointment?
My mother and I have a rocky relationship. I feel like I’m not good enough for her. She’s always trying to change me into something I’m not. Why can’t I ever be enough?
Greatest source of joy?
My best friends! Zoe, Tiffany, and Morticia have been my besties since we were on the high school cheer team together. We still have girls’ night at each other’s houses once a week to keep supporting and cheering each other on even as we turn forty.
What do you do to entertain yourself or have fun?
I am not a witch, but I do find fortune telling tools fascinating. I also love to go to McGinny’s Pub, a local Irish bar and restaurant run by Tiffany’s fiancé. Zoe’s husband Chaz is a doctor so the four of them are all set. At least Morti is still single like me.
What keeps you awake at night?
Not knowing who is spreading the awful witch rumors and not being able to convince the men in town that I’m not a sex addict. It’s starting to affect my business, and that’s not okay.
What is the most pressing problem you have at the moment?
My ex-boyfriend from high school is currently our judge. After the men in town press charges, Judge Zander takes great delight in assigning me to Sexaholics Anonymous and making me go through their 12-step process until the head therapist deems me reformed.
Is there something that you need or want that you don’t have? For yourself or for someone important to you?
Byron Storm is a therapist and went to college with Zander. He owes him a favor, so he agrees to be my sponsor.
How can I prove I’m not a sex addict when all I can think about is Mr. Stormalicious?
Why don’t you have it? What is in the way?
Byron adheres to a strict code of ethics, so he won’t get involved with me since he’s my sponsor, even though I told him he’s not actually my therapist and I’m not actually a sex addict. I’m just doing my time to finish my sentence and clear my name, but I’m beginning to think doing actual time would have been a whole lot easier.
Portrait of a Woman #3
Harmony Jones—a no-nonsense tomboy, new age shop owner, who lives to be different—is lonely. She’s on a quest to find her person. The problem is, no man will go near her. A secret enemy is spreading rumors, convincing the entire town she's a witch, casting spells on the menfolk because she's obsessed with sex. After a misunderstanding lands her in court, the judge sentences her to SAA.
Harmony is determined to find the person responsible for trying to ruin her life while she completes the 12-step program. She has always been rebellious, but she is having a hard time controlling the situation, so she plays along to prove to everyone she doesn’t have a problem.
Easier said than done when her therapist is a man like Byron Storm—all pheromones and too hot for words. When he takes on the role of being her sponsor in case she needs help, Harmony suddenly finds herself in all sorts of trouble, with “help” just a phone call away. Will she stay in control, or will she finally learn to let go?
