1--What is the title of your latest release?
SUITOR ARMOR, vol 1
2--What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?
A fairy in hiding amongst the humans during a time of war, meets and falls in love with an enchanted suit of armor brought to life by magic. Together they explore the world around them and learn more about themselves and each other.
3--How did you decide where your book was going to take place?
I knew that I wanted it to take place during an unspecified "medieval time" that most fairy tales tend to sit in.
4--Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life?
Of course! I think Lucia, Modeus and I would have a wonderful time talking. And I
would want the chance to give them hugs too.
5--What are three words that describe your protagonist?
Compassionate. Clever. Self-critical.
6--What’s something you learned while writing this book?
That it is better to write the kind of story you want to tell and let others come to it naturally than to try and write a story you think people will flock to.
7--Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?
Both! I edit as a go along but also make sure to go over everything as well at the end.
8--What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?
Sushi! I will always be in the mood for a never-ending carousel of good sushi.
9--Describe your writing space/office!
It is a very comfortable space! Lots of pillows, blankets, decorations and knick-knacks that make me happy. It’s important for me to feel calm and at ease while writing - helps me to focus!
10--Who is an author you admire?
I grew up really loving Shannon Hale’s middle grade books, especially Princess Academy.
11--Is there a book that changed your life?
Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux
12--Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be
published)/Or, for indie authors, when you decided to self-publish.
It was a really thrilling feeling when my wonderful agent, Britt Siess, told me that it was official. Sort of a shell-shocked experience. We are only a little way away from its release and I am still in disbelief!
13--What’s your favorite genre to read?
Fantasy!
14--What’s your favorite movie?
(This is such a hard question, I have so many!) The Shape of Water
15--What is your favorite season?
Fall
16--How do you like to celebrate your birthday?
Just with my partner and friends playing games and staying in. Maybe ordering a big pizza!
17--What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?
I have really been enjoying a show called Kevin Can F-ck Himself that has a really interesting premise. I don’t want to spoil anything, but I highly recommend going into the first episode blind.
18--What’s your favorite type of cuisine?
Japanese!
19--What do you do when you have free time?
I play video games with my friends and partner or spend time sketching at theme parks
(the characters there are a ton of fun to draw).
20--What can readers expect from you next?
I am planning on telling more stories of the fantasy variety. I have such a large backlog
of ideas I doubt there will be a time when you don’t see something new coming from me – either on Webtoon or print or wherever I can still a story.
Secrets hide behind every corner of the castle walls in the first volume of an exciting Webtoon romantasy graphic novel that follows the budding romance between a lady-in-waiting and an enchanted suit of armor.
While humans and fairies are at war beyond the castle walls, Lucia’s life is dedicated to helping prepare Lady Kirsi for her upcoming wedding to King Reimund.
Lucia’s time at court takes a dazzling turn when she accompanies Lady Kirsi to a royal tournament that calls together all of the kingdom's brave knights for a competition of strength and wit. A magically animated suit of armor, brought to life by Norrix the court mage's complicated enchantment spell, enters the ring and challenges the winning knight. Lucia is immediately attracted to the armor's dark, mysterious charm and lovingly names him Modeus. Bonded by their mutual status as outcasts within the kingdom, the two begin to develop an unlikely yet thrilling connection and sparks (both metaphorical and magical) fly.
The truth is, Lucia is hiding a dangerous secret about her own identity. She is the enemy: a fairy. She fears being exposed to the whole human kingdom, but she desperately desires to learn more about herself—especially with the arrival of a winged visitor who has infiltrated the castle walls for reasons still unknown...
Complete with original behind-the-scenes content and a bonus storyline exclusive to the book, this first volume includes episodes 1-17 of the greatly successful Webtoon webcomic Suitor Armor and sets the stage for a grand adventure in magic, romance, mystery, fantasy creatures, friendship, self-discovery, and more!
