Re: The Edge of Winter (3:17pm February 21, 2010):

I love Susan Wiggs, so even though I haven't read them yet, I know Summer at Willow Lake, The Winter Lodge, and Summer by the Sea will be favorites.

Re: Forbidden Falls (1:25pm January 17, 2010):

I'm not a techno freak. I don't have an Ipod or Kindle or MP3 player. I have to call tech for most computer problems.

Last week, though I became a tech by sheer desperation. I had to get a new modem on Friday. My tech couldn't come until Monday, so Saturday I was determined, and installed it myself. I was so proud!

Re: Dark Lover (1:51pm November 29, 2009):

Congrats on the new puppy! She's adorable, and Oreo sure seems to fit her.

I keep some things, but very few. I have some of Lori Foster's, everything Linda Howard has ever written, and JRsWard's BDB, and a few specific books, like the first book that Lori Foster had published. I do not reread, so I don't see much point in keeping them.

I read mostly contemporary romance. I don't like historicals at all, except for historical westerns which I really enjoy. The only paranormals I have read is the BDB. In general, the paranormal world doesn't appeal to me.

Re: Table Manners (2:08pm September 6, 2009):

I am doing nothing special this weekend. I'll be finishing up "Bending the Rules" by Susan Andersen. I don't know after that. Whatever I'm in the mood for. That's how I always pick my next read.

Re: Smash Cut (2:52pm August 17, 2009):

I keep very few books. I don't have time to re-read them. There are too many out there I haven't read, and like Sandi, I'm not a fast reader.
The only time I do a reread is for an author's bb I'm on. I do keep everything she writes, as she's my favorite author.

Re: Hot Pursuit (1:47pm August 2, 2009):

A couple of years ago I started getting hardcover books at my library simply because I don't like to read or keep the larger h/c.

Sandi - I live in Houston, and I'm not impressed with our library system. It seems that they do not get new books right when they come out. I am #29 of 40 on the list for Hot Pursuit. I thought that was very few people for a author like SB, but that is at my small local branch. Also, it came out July 28 according to Amazon, and it hasn't started to be checked out yet.
I have Finger Lickin' Fifteen on hold and I'm next up for it. It's been "in transit" for a week and a half. *sigh*

Re: Mackenzie's Legacy (1:44pm July 26, 2009):

I would love to revisit some past favorite families. The Mackenzie's you mentioned are a family I love, but I don't think I could stand it to read about Wolf's and Mary's deaths.

In SEP's "What I did for Love", it was unexpected great fun to have Fleur Savagar from "Glitter Baby" and Dean Robillard's mother and rocker father (Shoot! I can't think of the names) from "Natural Born Charmer" show up in that unrelated book. I really like things like that.

Re: Undead And Unwelcome (12:39pm June 14, 2009):

I would love to meet Linda Howard and Suz Brockmann. LH is my favorite author, however, I know that meeting her is very difficult. SB seems so nice, and like she would so much fun and easy to talk to.
I do have "virtual signing" books by both SB and JR Ward, so I appreciate authors that do that.

Shauna - It's so funny that you were lamenting that there are never any good book signings in Ohio. So many times I've read of book signings in Ohio by good authors and was jealous! And a lot of good authors live in Ohio, too. Name some? No, I can't think of any off hand. Many are authors I haven't read yet, but are very popular. I read RT magazine, and a lot of signings are mentioned in there.

Re: Pretty in Plaid (3:22pm May 17, 2009):

I'm also one who is always on time or a few minutes early to appointments or events. I hate to be late, be hurrying, and for people to have to wait for me.

Re: Comfort Food (2:54pm May 3, 2009):

I have books that are calling to me - but sometimes I don't hear them. Many books I've bought that I really wanted to read that have gotten shoved to the back when I've bought new ones.
I don't have a TBR pile because I'm very much a mood reader. I'll peruse my shelves until I come across one that sounds just right for right then. I'm a relatively slow reader, so it's easy for me to get behind in my books.
Right now I'm reading The Fire Within, the last of Kathryn Shay's wonderful America's Bravest firefighter series.

Re: The Promise (2:25pm April 19, 2009):

I've read all of my life, from an early age. The Secret Garden and the Nancy Drew mystery books were among favorites.
As an adult, I tried some of the romance books and didn't like them. All historicals with women as chattel and being raped, which turned into love (what?!). I didn't read much again until about 6 years ago. I was reading Cosmo, and Every month it has an excerpt of a romance novel. One month it was Linda Howard's "Open Season". I bought the book and that kick-started my romance reading. I still love mostly contemporary romance.
I read for escapism and fantasy and mostly entertainment, as I'm not much of a TV watcher. I couldn't live without my books and online friends that reading has brought me!

Re: The Accidental Human (1:29pm April 12, 2009):

The cover definitely matters to me. I like a good-looking man or a torso shot on the cover. Also man and woman covers. Having said that, it really bugs me when the cover people don't match the character descriptions in the story. Really, really, bugs me. I would think that would be simple enough to just match the hair color. I guess that's why so many publishers have gone to just using the torso shots.
I am especially partial to covers using John DeSalvo. *sigh*

I am attracted to covers, yes, but seldom would buy one because of that. Almost everything I read are recommendations (after all, isn't that why we're on these book chat groups), and that's how I chose my books.

Re: Smoke Screen (3:24pm January 11, 2009):

This is a really good question.
The only author I've just had to get everything she's ever written is Linda Howard. I read one book by her and had to have them all!
