Re: Rumor Has It (8:11am May 6, 2010):

Love the premise! I grew up in a small
town but have lived in a city since I left
college. This book is going on my tbr
list.

Re: Down By The River (11:48am January 24, 2010):

I prefer to read series books in order.
That's how I started on Robyn Carr's
Virgin River series. I found the VR
Christmas book and saw that it was
part of a larger series so I bought the
previous books and read those before
VR Christmas. It's my absolute
favorite series. I also like Lakeshore
Chronicles, Sheryl Woods Magnolia
series and a few others.

Re: Lucky Break (7:53pm October 4, 2009):

Sandi, I prefer the "do a chore, read a chapter" routine and it does produce results! :D
Have a great week!

Re: Lucky Break (7:20am September 29, 2009):

I'm a big fan of contemporary romances. Even better if it's a series. I love to see minor characters in one book get their own
chance at a HEA. And I'm a sucker for a good romantic comedy.

Re: Smash Cut (8:07pm August 16, 2009):

I have a "keeper shelf" or two but I confess, I really don't re-read. I loan my keepers out from time to time. I think I keep them just in case
there comes a day when I've read all my TBR books, I'll have some favorites to re-read. Recently, I bought Robyn Carr's first four books in
the Virgin River series for my Kindle. I've already bought, read and given away the paper back versions. I just wanted to have them on the
Kindle in case I want to re-read someday. How crazy is that?!!

Re: The Perfect Couple (7:20pm August 9, 2009):

I haven't heard of any of my favorite authors "retiring". It's sad, especially if they have more books they want to write. Have to add my 2
cents and say I love reading on my Kindle. I still read and buy books (as well as use my public library). Also, I rarely by a hard cover book
anymore.

Re: The Guernsey Literary And Potato Peel Pie Society (12:42pm July 5, 2009):

I agree with Merri Crawford - I read Guernsey before the hype and enjoyed it for the
lovely, "quiet" book that it was. I think hype can be the death of a good book. I'm always
cautious to gush about a book. Same goes for movies.
There's a quote (can't remember who first said it) that goes something like "no two people
read the same book." Very true.
Great topic, Sandi!

Re: A Thread Of Truth (9:34am June 22, 2009):

First things first, Bostwick just went on my TBR list. Thanks : )
Typos don't bother me too much, unless there are a lot in the same book.
Grammar, yeah, that bugs me if I catch a mistake like that. But, hey, I'm a Virgo (lol).

Re: Undead And Unwelcome (10:08pm June 14, 2009):

I'd love to meet Robyn Carr, Kristan Higgins, Sherryl Woods, Susan Wiggs and also Laurie Viera
Rigler.

I go to see Elizabeth Berg whenever she's in my city with a new book tour. She's wonderful!

Re: The Red Pony (4:01pm June 7, 2009):

Each summer I read something by Steinbeck, so it's funny you brought him up. So far, my favorite is East of
Eden. Loved it.
I've also read The Great Gatsby (Fitzgerald) a couple of times over the past 5 years - summer read as well.
It's a very quick read and I pick up on something new with each reading.

As for liking the classics while in school - I think it all depended on the teacher, how it was taught. (and I'm
a former teacher)

I read Pride & Prejudice for the first time a couple of years ago. Loved it. Will read it again.

Great topic!

Re: The 8th Confession (5:45pm June 1, 2009):

Looks like some good books for June. Thanks for the info!

Re: The Warrior (8:07am May 25, 2009):

I'm impulsive when it comes to buying books, that's for sure. Especially when it comes to books
for my kindle!

I saw Topol in Fiddler back in the... well, lets just say when I was a teenager. The play was on
Broadway. Absolutely wonderful.

Re: Pretty in Plaid (1:36pm May 17, 2009):

Sandi, it was for Elizabeth Berg (Maggie and I share similar tastes, perhaps?). I see her whenever she comes to town. Love her books!

Re: Pretty in Plaid (10:52am May 17, 2009):

I'd rather be early than late. My sis and I went to a reading last week and arrived about 15
minutes early. Thought I'd buy the book and have the author sign it. Well, I bought a pre-
signed book (didn't want it personalized as I'm giving it away) and then we spied a very
comfy-looking sofa in the author reading area. Yeah, we sat :) It was the most enjoyable
reading I've been to, not only because of the author but also because of that wonderful sofa.
Pays to be a little early! I wish Jen Lancaster would visit my city. My daughter loves her
books and I've meant to read them. I'll add it to my TBR list...

Re: Let It Ride (3:01pm May 11, 2009):

My kids do not live at home anymore (all in their 20s and out of college). My hubby and I
will either go to baseball games or watch them on tv. So, baseball or reading - two of
my favorite past times. I'm looking forward to summer!

Re: Bunco Babes Tell All (3:47pm May 6, 2009):

My sisters play but I haven't. Sounds like a lot of fun!

Re: Sunset Bay (9:57pm May 2, 2009):

I would imagine having tea would be a lovely way to connect on a level other than
reader/author and yet all the more at that level. Sounds like you had a great time.
I've seen great comments about Sunset Bay and look forward to the new series!

Re: Wild Heat (7:36am May 1, 2009):

See, this is why I love getting auto-updates from Fresh Fiction. I'll definitely be looking for your books.
They look great! I love the story of your path to writing. Rock star?!! How cool is that? Not to mention
great research for future books!

Re: Temptation Ridge (1:29pm April 26, 2009):

Good book. Love this series!

Re: Behind The Shadows (11:41am April 26, 2009):

I don't use retail therapy to ease emotions but give me a chance to browse a book store
or online site and I'll be there for hours sometimes. Now that I have a Kindle I love to
browse online. And if a book is in my price range - look out! I'll start to see smoke
rising from my handbag!!! (my credit card, lol).

Re: Comfort Food (10:43pm April 25, 2009):

I love the Virgin River series. And like Sandi (in the post above mine) I've really enjoyed Susan Wiggs' Lakeshore Chronicles.
I liked Sheryl Woods' Sweet Magnolias as well.

Re: The Promise (12:18pm April 19, 2009):

I read to take myself to a different
place filled with interesting people.
I've always read for that reason. I
remember my 3rd grade teacher
reading a book aloud to the class
every day after lunch recess. It would
calm us down and make us look
forward to being back in the
classroom after recess. Just a
wonderful experience. And then, there
was Nancy Drew. I bought each book
with my own babysitting earnings.
Love to read fiction more than
mysteries now.

Re: Mastering The Marquess (8:53am April 16, 2009):

I have six sisters - oh the drama, lol. I'm
the oldest. When we were young there
were tiffs. Not so much anymore. But
we're also spread all over the US!

Re: The Accidental Human (6:57am April 12, 2009):

I notice very cute pups on covers these
days. I pick them up and check out
the back cover blurbs.
(I'd love to win!)

Happy Easter to all who celebrate!

Re: Paradise Valley (8:19am April 11, 2009):

Another book I read last week was "The
Lost Recipe for Happiness" by Barbara
O'Neal - really liked it!

Re: Paradise Valley (8:16am April 11, 2009):

I just finished reading "Dancing in the
Moonlight" - nice story. Also read
Kristan Higgins' "Too Good to be True" -
loved it. And want to suggest Julia
Harper's"Hot".
