Romance Paranormal

Terry Spear's debut Heart of the Wolf was a Publishers Weekly Best Book of the Year. Known for her research into how wolves live in nature, Spear writes her werewolves as they would behave realistically, including pack dynamics, mating behavior, and hierarchies.

Werewolf pack leader Jake Silver is an acclaimed photographer. He sees a beautiful woman at the art gallery where his photos are on display, and his intrigue turns into wolfish protectiveness. Alicia Greiston has never met anyone like Jake–he's sexy, alpha, and totally irresistible, and he calls to something primal in her soul.

Re: Dreaming Of The Wolf

Hi Terry, Love the paranornal! Happy Holidays!!
(Tina Rucci 12:19pm December 8, 2011)

Thanks for a great post and recipes! I love old fashion, homemade chicken with egg noodle soup. Especially if I'm sick or cold!

Happy Holidays!
(
Erin Fender 12:20pm December 8, 2011)

Homemade minestrone soup is my favorite soup! I love a corn chowder also :-).
Looking forward to reading your books
(
Pamela Rose 3:17am December 8, 2011)

looks like a good read..and also chicken soup (have a cold..will try)
(
Mal Kaplan 6:57am December 8, 2011)

Thanks, Tina! I do too!

That sounds great, Erin! They say it helps if you are breathing in the aroma as you're cooking it!

Thanks, Pamela! I've never tried either, but they sound good.

I agree, Mal!
(
Terry Spear 8:02am December 8, 2011)

MMMMM - chicken soup - always great any time of the year - thank you for that recipe - the stories are fantastic and I look forward to reading them also!
(
Felicia Ciaudelli 8:30am December 8, 2011)

I think that I could cope with Jake's cooking!
Blessings,
Marjorie
(
Marjorie Carmony 9:02am December 8, 2011)

I'd say you don't have to ask me twice to sit down with Jake for dinner. He could cook for me anytime. A go to soup for us here in the North Country where Native Wild Rice is in abundance. Is Chicken Wild Rice Soup. Your stories are Just super good. And the wolves are hunky and yummy. And the women can handle them.
(
Donna Fournier 9:25am December 8, 2011)

I am home sick with the flu today, my wonderful children shared with me. But if I
only would have had the Silver Town Chicken Soup recipe earlier I am sure I
could have side stepped it! Ah!
The idea of food still turns my stomach though...so I think I will just go cower
under some blankets and dream of a wolf pack...
(
Lexi Hansen 9:47am December 8, 2011)

I love all the traditions of Christmas, it's what brings the family together.
Happy holidays everyone.
(
Barbara Hanson 9:48am December 8, 2011)

Love a man who can cook... :) And the story sounds terrific too!
(
May Pau 10:06am December 8, 2011)

If a man cooked for me, looked like he knew his way around a kitchen, and the food looked like it was cooked through, of course I would eat it!! A woman would have to be a fool to pass it up!! We need a vacation from cooking once in a while!! I love chicken soup, too, and you gave me the perfect idea of how to make some when I'm in a pinch, and someone is sick!! Thank you!! I love the cover, and can't wait to read the book!! Have a Merry Christmas, and a wonderful New Year!!
(
Peggy Roberson 10:31am December 8, 2011)

My go to meal is a peanut butter and jelly sandwich on wheat bread. I have them for breakfast or dinner (and lunch). The protein and fat keeps me full longer, yet it's a lighter dinner. I eat about 4 a week.

Otherwise it would be spaghetti. I hate jarred sauces and it's quick to make my own using a can of tomato puree and spices, simmer for 15 min. while water boils and noodles cook. If I don't nuke and add sausage or hamburger (add to sauce then cook sauce 15 more minutes), I sprinkle on mozzarella cheese and nuke 1 min. to melt cheese.
(
Anne Muller 10:31am December 8, 2011)

I'd love to sit down with a guy who cooks!
(
Beth Elder 10:34am December 8, 2011)

I would certainly sit down to a meal Jake prepares. As for dessert, I would bring a flourless chocolate cake for it's rich, seductive taste and ease to make.
(
G. Bisbjerg 11:10am December 8, 2011)

I would love to sit down an have a man cook for me. As far as the dessert, well that would be debateable, depending on what kind of dessert I want. I was told a way to a man's heart is through his stomach. You have to make sure he is fed well. I am thinking of all kinds of desserts I could bring. I love chicken soup. Thanks for the receipe. I am going to try it and I will let you know. I could eat chicken soup every day of the week. My favorite dish is home made pasta sauce. Your books sound fantastic and I am looking forward to reading them. I love books regarding werewolves, vampires, shape shifters and paranormal. I wish a Merry Christmas and Happy New years.
(
Joanne Altieri 12:02pm December 8, 2011)

I think the werewolves-theme is a great one, there are so many different interpretations. (I love your covers, by the way)
(
Kathleen Conner 12:09pm December 8, 2011)

Pasta of some sort is my go-to meal(I'm Italian). I love potatoes too and sometimes will have a meal of just mashed potatoes with lots of pepper and butter. I love one pot cooking. Thanks for the recipes Terry!
(
Stacie Deramo 1:01pm December 8, 2011)

Creamy potato soup with lots of grated cheese on top.
(
Lisa Richards 1:02pm December 8, 2011)

Cooking is very low on the list at our house (in fact it is the bottom) So we order out a lot, or I eat PB&J. I'd definitely eat anything prepared by someone else, but it would have to have no peppers or onions. (Picky aren't I)
(
Anne Jones 1:05pm December 8, 2011)

My husband does most of the cooking, he is a great cook. Hope to win the DREAMING OF THE WOLF.
(
Debbie Ellis 1:49pm December 8, 2011)

I would love for a man to cook for me... I love pasta or beef stew, not much of a soup person... I love looking at your book covers... Happy Holidays!
(
Colleen Conklin 1:57pm December 8, 2011)

I have a man doing my cooking already. It's my husband who
has done the majority of the cooking for the last 35 years
:D His go to meal is a good old-fashioned Vegetable stew for
the cold days. For variety he adds meat of any kind :D

My own go to recipe is Tagliatelle with ham, butter and
tomato purée added after it's cooked. Makes a wonderfully
tasty dish and it's so easy I can't muck it up :D
(
Ilona Fenton 2:14pm December 8, 2011)

pesole - the quick way is with all canned goods: a can of chicken breast, a can of yellow hominy, a can of white hominy, a can of green chilies, a can of diced tomatoes. Throw in a little chicken bouillion, add water, and simmer. Serve with tortilla chips. Yum
(
Marguerite Guinn 3:00pm December 8, 2011)

I would definately want to sit with him. He could be the meal too if that would work. :)
I love to cook and bake and it would be wonderful to be with a man who also enjoys it.
(
Patti Paonessa 3:47pm December 8, 2011)

if I'm not feeling well I usually go for chicken soup. I
recently made a big batch & put it in small containers in the
freezer. For a heartier soup I mad baked potato with chicken,
and broccoli/cheese. Great to have around for winter.
(
Diane Sallans 3:55pm December 8, 2011)

My favorite go-to meal or comfort food is Macaroni & Cheese. My
favorite soup is New England Clam Chowder. My son makes a
wonderful chili that I really enjoy as well.
(
Kathy Vogel 4:02pm December 8, 2011)

I think my fav fast meal is tacos and I know my kids love them also. I
love also your books and am looking forward to the new ones.
(
Vickie Hightower 4:25pm December 8, 2011)

I like to cook, so I'm the only one cooking at my house. Love the cover on the book.
(
Kathleen Bianchi 4:41pm December 8, 2011)

I love to cook, and my favorite soup I make, homemade, is cheesy broccoli soup and my other favorite to make is chili with macaroni and cheddar cheese added in. I enjoy making my own pizzas and adding fresh cooked ground sausage to them, mushrooms, etc. That's one of my favorite go-to meals. I would love to win your latest 'WOLF' book, since I recently discovered, I simply love werewolf books, when I read my very first one, 'The Pack' by Jason Starr. I am definitely writing all yours down, so I can read them all! I am so happy to discover you as an author, from your blog, today! Thanks!!
(
Linda Luinstra 5:04pm December 8, 2011)

Yep, he could cook for me anytime!! My fav meal-good old meatloaf and mashed potatoes-real comfort food!!
(
Cathy Matkovic 5:38pm December 8, 2011)

My favorite meal is macaroni-cheesy/chicken casserole. It's very good and easy to make. Requires 2 cups (macaroni, cooked, one can cream of chicken soup, 1 cup milk, 6 oz. shredded cheddar cheese, and one or two pcs. leftover cooked chicken (one chicken breast is enough). Just combine everything and microwave in a 2-qt. covered baking dish, 15 min. or cook in oven 350 degrees for 30 min. It's a good meal (comfort food). Your books have nice covers and something I'd enjoy reading.
(
Rich Cook 5:44pm December 8, 2011)

What could be better on a cold winter night. A comfy chair, a
hot bowl of soup, hot drink, and a great book with a HOT guy!
Yum, I like it HOT!!
(
Barb Kettler 6:59pm December 8, 2011)

Quesadillas are our go-to meal. These books sound great! I can't wait to read them!
(
Jenny Finstrom 6:59pm December 8, 2011)

DREAMING OF THE WOLF looks amazing. You can't beat Chicken Soup.
(
Mary Preston 7:10pm December 8, 2011)

Chicken soup is my hubby's favorite when sick, me, tomato soup is the one.
(
Diane Sadler 7:18pm December 8, 2011)

Actually a lentil soup is my favorite. I got the receipe from my mom but I add a bit more to it. Any left over meat adds some flavor. I also like to add spinach or endive. Makes a great meal and healthy too.
(
Jeanne Sheats 7:30pm December 8, 2011)

Love to have dinner with Jake! My favorite meal for cold nights is chicken or beef congee.
(
Mary C 7:46pm December 8, 2011)

Thanks for the chicken soup recipe. We like chicken soup when we are sick and it is so very good for you. A good hot bowl of soup and a good book to read works for me.
(
Mary Christian 8:00pm December 8, 2011)

Like the simplicity of the "Throw-Together Meal". Nope, wouldn't eat with a werewolf or any kind of wolf. Wolf Run at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is as close as I want to get to a pack of timberwolves. Their coloring is so rugged with shades of gray, silver and dusky brown.
(
Alyson Widen 8:18pm December 8, 2011)

Thanks for the giveaway! My favorite soup is Baked Potato
Soup! High in calories but who cares when you're not feeling
good! :-)
(
Laura Henderson 8:44pm December 8, 2011)

Easy meal Mac and Cheese and cooked ground beef add peas, heat, enjoy!
Any meal cooked by a hot man, YUMM!!!
(
Pat Freely 9:05pm December 8, 2011)

I definitely love the easy and no fuss way of cooking meals, so when is Jake coming over?
(
Jan D 9:41pm December 8, 2011)

Yes,any man who wants to do the cooking is OK.I loved it when my husband would make us a sunday breakfast. It just made me feel so warm and comfy inside.
(
Deb Pelletier 10:29pm December 8, 2011)

Ha Ha hmmm with company like that who can think about food!
(
Darci Paice 10:35pm December 8, 2011)

jake in the kitchen i am in ...i love your werwolf series!!! i can't waait to read this one.you are one of my faves...thanks alot for the great books just keep them coming!!!
(
Jennifer Beck 11:23pm December 8, 2011)

MMMMMMMmmmmmm Good!! Hot homemade soup (of any kind LOL ) is one thing that always tastes good, but especially during the winter months. Coming in after shoveling out and plowing the driveway (which includes clearing off the 2 cars as well as the truck); I am so ready for a nice hot homemade soup to warm you up from the inside out. LOL I love to try new recipes, so I will probably be trying some of the ones I just read about here. I love any kind of chowder -- clam chowder, seafood chowder, corn chowder -- soups are Always great too! I love chicken soup and usually have plenty of things in the refrigerator that I can easily add to it, so my chicken soup rarely comes out the same as the time before. I do think one of my favorites would be French Onion soup (browned under the broiler with toasted garlic bread and loads of cheese on top, of course!)
Hope you and yours , as well as everyone here reading your blog, has a wonderful Holiday Season! Thanks for running the contest for your readers, that is really nice of you. Toodles....
(
Cheri Minott 4:12am December 9, 2011)

Sorry, I've been absentee! I will be back to comment later this afternoon! I had to work really late at the library last night, and while there, had the horrible realization that there are only 2 weeks until Christmas! Which for me, means 2 days off only because I've got to help my daughter with bridal pictures the other 2 days off! :) So I'm off today, have to work tomorrow, and am running around trying to get a handle on this! Will be back later to comment!

Thanks, ladies!!! I loved all the comments so far!!!
(
Terry Spear 8:26am December 9, 2011)

A quick and easy meal/snack are two things for us:

Recipe one (armodillo eggs): 1 tube of ground hamburger, a
package of shredded pepper-jack, a jar of jalapeno slices.

pre-heat the oven to 375

roll into balls, using thumb to make a hole in the center.
Add cheese and a jalapeno slice before closing balls.

Recipe two (goulash): Elbow macaroni (with a small amount of
water), sauce, meat (or tofu if you're going for a vegetarian route), plus tomato, onion and peppers.

Heat pan on medium, add oil or butter to pan then mix your
elbow macaroni and sauce along with the vegetables; Add the
elbow macaroni and the meat (or tofu) to the pan, cook for
ten minutes, stirring occasionally. I added oregano to the
mix while cooking it one time, tis up to you if you do so
however.
(
Sabrena Pattat 9:03am December 9, 2011)

Thank you for the recipe...I am collecting the werewolf series for my keeper shelf...I would love this one to go with [email protected]
(
Leisa Prater 11:04am December 9, 2011)

Wonderful recipe, Terry! Who doesn't love chicken soup? LOL.
(
Tamara Hunter 1:13pm December 9, 2011)

Felicia, thanks so much! You're right! Soup is great any time of the year!

Marjory, and you could cope with anything else Jake offered you, right?

Donna, wild rice soup sounds divine! And I'll share Jake with you if you share your soup with me! :)

Lexi, I'm so sorry to hear it, but glad you have wonderful kids to help you get through it. I was really sick with the flu for Thanksgiving one year and my son made the turkey and my daughter the dressing and gravy and everything! They were 10 and 13. I believe in boys cooking as well as girls...my dad was a great cook! I hope you get too feeling better, just keep dreaming of those wolves. :)

I agree, Barbara! Family is what matters.

Thanks, Mau!

Peggy, absolutely on taking a break. We need it! Thanks for loving the series!! Merry Christmas!

Anne, I'm not into store bought sauces either. Right now I'm making spaghetti, tossing in fresh mushrooms, fresh ground hamburger meat, the really lean kind, and fresh onions and tomatoes, and adding all the good spices. I just use tomato sauce. :) Yum. Oh, and I have grated cheese in a package that I keep frozen to make it last longer, take off a frozen chunk and set it on top. The hot spaghetti melts into a nice dreamy cheesy topping. :)

Beth, did you ever have a chance to sit down with Bella's wolf from Heart of the Wolf? He takes eating a meal to a different extreme. :). Well, he cooked the meal first also!

G. and then you'd have another dessert. But I sure like the sound of yours!!

Joanne, I'm like you! I love chicken soup. Love chicken! But I also really enjoy making a homemade spaghetti sauce. :) I don't have a lot of time to spend cooking, so I find these really easy to do without a lot of muss and fuss. And if you make enough of it, leftovers are terrific!
(
Terry Spear 1:18pm December 9, 2011)

Thanks, Kathleen, they are gorgeous covers!

Stacie, me too. We have one Italian early in the family tree, although my daughter just married into a family with Italian heritage, but I'm really hooked on spaghetti. :)

Lisa, that sounds good! I love cold potato soup with chives on top...rich cream, yum. I haven't eaten lunch yet, ladies, and you're all making me hungry while my spaghetti cooks!

Anne, that's what's nice about a super accommodating wolf. Your wish is his command. :) With a smile.

Debbie, great for your husband. My mother was a good cook, but she hated it. When dad retired, he did all the cooking. :)

Thanks, Colleen! Beef stew! Yes! Another really easy meal to make! Nice and hearty and great for winter.

LOL, Ilona, you have a keeper!!!Your dish sounds intriguing!

Marguerite, that sounds interesting and easy! I like easy and quick!

Patti, too funny. Yeah, he'd be up for something else before long! :) Hearty meal, hearty fun!

Diane, that sounds like a great idea!

Kathy, chili, yes! Another wonderful hot meal for a cold day. I love chili!

Vickie, love tacos. My dad made the best also! Buried in sharp cheese, yum! Thanks about the books. Glad you're loving the wolves' stories!!!

Kathleen, that would work! Thanks for loving the covers. They do a great job!

Thanks, Linda! We do the same with pizza. Add pepperoni, bell peppers, our own sauce, olives, whatever anyone wants to add! Much better than just the store bought, we think. :)
Hope you love the rest of the series!

Cathy, I know you wouldn't stop at just wanting a bite to eat from him.... :) Thanks for loving the wolves!

Thanks, Rich, super recipe! Hope you get a chance to read them!
(
Terry Spear 1:35pm December 9, 2011)

LOL, Barb!!! I'm so glad you like it hot! Jake would love you! LOL!

Thanks, Jenny! I love those in the restaurant. I've never made them though! :)

Mary P, I agree! On both counts!

Diane, it's so nice having something you enjoy when you need it!!

Jeanne, sounds great! I love doing that too. Starting out with one recipe and then making it my own. But then it's hard to share because you just tossed a little of this and a little of that, and well, not sure how much, but it sure tastes great! :)

Mary Chin, Jake is setting the table for you! Congee sounds interesting. Never heard of it!

Mary Christian, yeah, hot soup and hot book work for me too!

Alyson, wish I lived there so I could visit them. I loved visiting the wolves and wolf dogs near Houston. We don't have any wolves at our zoo. :( But yes, on the jaguar!

Laura, I've never heard of that either, but it sounds really good!!

LOL, Pat, I agree, any meal cooked by a man sounds good to me! Your meal sounds great too!

Jan, he's ready and raring to go! :) Just bring out the plates, offer him dessert, and you've got your man. Wolf. Both. :)

Deb, that sounds so nice! I think the ritual should be begun again, starting now, don't you???

LOL, Darci, you have the right idea! And well, he'd agree with you! :)

Thanks so much, Jennifer! You know he'd cook anything for you that your heart desired!

Oooh, Cheri, yes, French onion soup! I love making it. Beef broth or beef bullion cubes in water, lots of onions, and a slice of toasted bread on top, buried under melted cheese. One of my favorite restaurants was the Magic Pan in St Louise. Crepes to die for--broccoli, cheese, white sauce and chicken, and another, a vegetable one, zucchini and all kinds of Italian kind of vegetables in a crepe, covered in cheese. And French onion soup. *sigh*
(
Terry Spear 2:09pm December 9, 2011)

Thanks for the recipe, Sabrina. It sounds really yummy. Great for a wolf pack or a loner. :)

Leisa, thanks so much! I'm glad you're loving the wolves. Just send me a SASE if you need book marks! :)

Tamara, I so agree! My dad would say it puts hair on your chest. :) He was always full of sayings. LOL :)
