Fantasy Anthology

What do you get when you pair urban fantasy authors and their beloved characters together? URBAN ALLIES features twenty phenomenal authors, and their much beloved characters, teaming up to produce ten short stories. The collaboration between Seanan McGuire and Kelley Armstrong entitled Tailed is without a doubt my favorite in URBAN ALLIES. Of course, it's hard to go wrong on anything written by these two authors and you don't have to be familiar with their series to appreciate the storyline. I love that we get to see how their characters encounter a poacher in the woods, as Verity and Elena have quite the surprise in store for the InCryptid poacher! Takes All Kinds by Diana Rowland and Carrie Vaughn was another hit for me and reminds me that I need to catch up on their respective series! With zombies and werewolves working together, Takes All Kinds introduces us to Kitty and Angel. If you haven't sampled either of these two authors before, you're missing quite a treat! URBAN ALLIES is an intriguing concept and one I hope we see more of. However, it would be helpful if we were given at least a little background on the series each character comes from as some of the stories seemed a bit too dependent on the reader's familiarity with the characters. If you like the darker side of urban fantasy, then URBAN ALLIES may be just what you are looking for.

Re: Take a walk on the dark side of urban fantasy...

So many of my favorite authors! For those who don't know the
various series, it might be confusing but just think how many
new readers will be garnered!
