There's an old saying that you should marry your best
friend. Well in one sense Jazzy did marry her best friend
Ace Riley. Since Jazzy came to town and opened her cafe Ace
had dropped by pretty often and not always for a bite to
eat. More often he came to see his good friend and bend her
ear. His life was a series of one night stands and the one
person who seemed ignore his lack of good judgment was
Jazzy. So when Ace found himself in a tight spot who else to
turn to but Jazzy. It seems his grandfather had not left the
ranch free and clean to Ace, there was a condition that had
never been revealed and as luck would have it time was not
on Ace's side. He had a week to be married or the ranch
would go to one of his cousins, Cole. Ace was beside
himself, he knew that Cole was just going to sell it, while
Ace wanted it to remain in the family. Jazzy knew there had
to be something they could do, and so in bestfriend fashion
she offered to marry Ace for the year needed to satisfy the
will. Of course there were lots of rules if this was to
work. No friends with benefits, separate bedrooms and most
importantly this was to remain a tightly kept secret just
between the two of them and Cole. Equally important was
Ace's promise of celibacy and keep his wondering eye under
control. Their plans were tumbling faster than a wall of
dominoes and those rules were going to be put to the test.
Before long the whole town, their families and practically
just about anyone knew. It was a big surprise since no one
thought they'd been dating. Jazzy or Ace had ever pictured
themselves as a couple but if they were being truly honest
they admit to harboring a secret attraction that they
wouldn't have acted on. Well now all bets are off. They are
going to share a bedroom, celebrate their marriage in front
of their families, and pretend to be a loving newly married
couple. Ironically this is not all an act since the more
time together it becomes obvious that the attraction is real
and strong. Perhaps at the end of the year face a life
together rather than a divorce. Lots to contend with and all
this will surely test their friendship, hopefully they will
decide that friendship brought them together but love will
keep it everlasting.
