Romance Historical

The Fate of England's Monarchy Is In The Hands of Three Notorious Rakes.

To prevent three royal dukes from marrying their way onto the throne, heroic, selfless agents for the crown will be dispatched...to seduce the dukes' intended brides. These wickedly debauched rakes will rumple sheets and cause a scandal. But they just might fall into their own trap...

After he's blamed for a botched assignment during war, former cavalry officer Rhys Warrick turns his back on "honor." He spends his nights in brothels doing his best to live down to the expectations of his disapproving family. But one last mission could restore the reputation he's so thoroughly sullied. All he has to do is seduce and ruin Miss Olivia Symon and his military record will be cleared. For a man with Rhys's reputation, ravishing the delectably innocent miss should be easy. But Olivia's honesty and bold curiosity stir more than Rhys's desire. Suddenly the heart he thought he left on the battlefield is about to surrender...

Looks like a great historical romance - would love to read

The story's plot makes for a delicious dilemma! I would love to read the book.

A hero is only human and if her occasionally does something less than ideal, it just makes him one of us. What lady could live up to perfection, and wouldn't he become insufferable after a time, even if he was too polite to point out how great he was.
What would put him beyond the pale? Heroes tend not to be cruel to animals or children, though ranchers and woodsmen might occasionally put animals before people. Half the world believes that animals do not have feelings or feel pain or fear. Yeah, right. But look how Regency gentlemen attended cockpits and bear-baiting, aside from hunting and treating horses with casual cruelty. So standards change with the times.

May Pau 10:30am January 10, 2013)

Remember "the bodice rippers", a man would kidnap, seduce or take, betray, and then live happily ever after. I never really got the hero raping or betraying.

Everyone makes mistakes. The problem comes when they don't
recognize them and try to make amends.
(
Karin Anderson 10:52am January 10, 2013)

I love the concept of trying to "ruin" someone for money or to make amends to your wounded rep. Very intriguing way to go about it! LOL

I love reading Historical Romances. Would love to win. Thanks for a chance.
(
Linda Hall 10:54pm January 10, 2013)

I believe that a hero who kisses and tells would be one that I consider someone who would be beyond the pale. The excerpt that you provided whet my appetite, and I wish that I had the whole book, so that I could find out how the story unfolded!! It was too big of a tease!! This is definately going to be on my TBR list to get me through the rest of the Winter!! Thank you for sharing the excerpt with us!! Have a Happy and Healthy New Year!!
(
Peggy Roberson 10:54pm January 10, 2013)

I have no problem with a hero who is unheroic once or twice, as long is it is nothing grossly out of line and unredeemable, and as long as he does actually redeem himself in the end. I love this excerpt and now I really, really, REALLY want tow in.
(
Donna Holmberg 11:16pm January 10, 2013)

Someone mentioned the old "bodice rippers" where the 'hero' would kidnap the h and seduce her...I've been reading historicals forever! And I love Johanna Lindsey for all that time (even own all her books). One of her early one, a pirate one, has the hero somehow kidnapping the h, and raping her several times. Of course it's more complicated & somehow everything works out, but I've always had trouble with that story. To the point that when I get in the mood for her work, I've never re-read it!
beyond the pale: cruelty to animals; hurting kids, knowingly letting kids be hurt; starving anyone/thing; serious physical or mental abuse.
(
Victoria Colyer-Kerr 9:05am January 11, 2013)

Thank you for the excerpt, it was great.
(
Rita Wray 9:20am January 11, 2013)

Ahh I shouldn't have read the excerpt now want to keep
reading. Can't wait to read it
(
Alisha Woods 9:30am January 11, 2013)

Oh, this was really delicious, and I'd love to read "Waking Up With a Rake". I can't wait to see how Rhys is going to redeem himself, after treating Olivia so badly, especially after saying such hurtful things to her. I'd now love to follow their journey right up to their "happy ever after". :-)

Thank you for this opportunity.
(
Diane Diamond 10:42am January 11, 2013)

This new series sounds interesting. Can't wait to read this
book and the next...
(
Marguerite Guinn 12:36pm January 11, 2013)

A hero who is cruel to humans and animals turn me off. Your new series sounds very interesting and good. I'm looking forward to reading them. Loved your excerpt!
(
Cathy Phillips 1:22pm January 11, 2013)

I would love to win and read this book. Since the bad deed is forced, I can understand why he agrees, but would lve to see how he proceeds.
(
Carol Woodruff 4:32pm January 11, 2013)

I love the excerpt. It is so enticing. I definitely want to know what will happen between Olivia and Rhys.
(
Kai Wong 4:44pm January 11, 2013)

Creative as always Mia. I love the excerpt and awesome
premise. I can't wait to read this!
(
Lenna Hendershott 9:50pm January 11, 2013)

Rakes already sound like they have quite a history and it's not good, but that's what is so tantanlizing. I prefer stories with heroines and or heroes to those without. Please keep writing more good stuff.
