Trace can sense that something is wrong—Maggie isn’t telling him everything. If these menacing calls and messages are real, why won’t the police help her? And if they aren’t real, what is she hiding?

As Trace digs deeper to find the source of Maggie’s threats, he discovers a secret that no one was meant to uncover. And the only puzzle left to be solved is whether the danger comes from an unknown stalker…or from the woman he’s trying his hardest not to fall for.

Re: Against The Storm

I would not know how to begin a book let alone finish it.
(Mary Preston 6:19am October 17, 2011)

Maybe you should go to writer's conferences and then, if you can get a literary agent alone, and if you're any good at fanning their egos, maybe you can get the idea to them!
(
Diane Brixius 6:43am October 17, 2011)

I certainly enjoy your books, so am grateful for your perseverance.
Has your husband published any other books?
Blessings,
Marjorie

I would love to win a copy of Against the Storm. I loved the first 3 books of this series, and a huge fan of all her other books. I am very glad you did not stop writing because we would not have wonderful stories. Love the Raines Brothers. Also loved the necklace trilogy.
(
Chris Bails 10:02am October 17, 2011)

I am always amazed when I read the stories about how some of my favorite
authors had such a hard time getting their books published. I often wonder
about how much talent never even gets a chance. I'm glad you were persistent,
Kat. Congratulations on your latest release.
(
Debbie Burdeen 10:11am October 17, 2011)

Thanks for sharing your story. I've written my first and am
planning my second novel, getting then published is on my

Hi,Kat! I loved your blog and your perseverence. If you hadn't persevered, the world would never have met you as a great author. So far, I have all your Against books, and love them. Looking forward to reading your newest one, AGAINST THE STORM.

Is your husband still writing as well? Sure hope so!
(
Cathy Phillips 11:04am October 17, 2011)

Wow! Such great comments! A couple of you are writing your own books and going to conferences to try to get them published is a great way to do it. And don't be afraid of rejection. It hurts a little, but its worth it in the long run. Regarding my husband's books. He's written over 20. YOu can find them at www.ljmartin.com. Lots of westerns, some historicals, some contemps. Good luck to those of you who are trying to get published. don't give up! kat

i admire people who are successful writers! Anytime I am asked to write an article or essay, I cannot stop editing - I write, remove, write some more. Eventually I finish, but I always think I might have done a better job! YOU do a great job! Love your books and can't wait for Against the Storm!
(

good writers for granted so it's great that you tell us about
the trials & tribulations of what it takes to get a book out
to us.

(

I find it encouraging to read what happened and
that 50 books later your name is sought out. It's
also a testament that you and your husband
enjoy writing and encourage each other.

It is hard to imagine writing 50 novel's! Congratulations.
(
Kathleen Bianchi 3:06pm October 17, 2011)

It's always such fun to blog on this site. great comments. Have to say I can't believe I've written 50 books either! A lot of them are being re-issued over the next few months. Hot Rain is the first and it's one of my favorites. New Cover, out in January. It's a high action adventure, contemp romantic suspense. The Sinclair Sisters trilogy will also be re-issued next year. And of course, Against the Night, out end Feb, and Against the Sun, end of May. As you can see, I stay busy! kat
(
Kat Martin 4:06pm October 17, 2011)

(
Erin Fender 4:12pm October 17, 2011)

I've read many of your books, this one sounds real good.
(
Wilma Frana 4:50pm October 17, 2011)

I'm unsure if there is a trick to getting published, but as the saying goes, "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again." Obviously, that's what you did and through your diligence in helping your husband, you succeeded. Congratulations on your 50th novel, which is quite an accomplishment! I love western-themed novels, and would love to win a copy of your new book, "Against the Storm." I love the cover of the book and am looking forward to reading the other new releases you have coming out next year. I'm sure you've worked long and hard to get these written and published.
(
Linda Luinstra 5:05pm October 17, 2011)

(
Pam Alderson 5:26pm October 17, 2011)

I really love your books. I am so glad you didn't give up on your writing. I am not a writer and never will be and I so admire authors for their wonderful work.
(
Gail Hurt 5:52pm October 17, 2011)

I have to say writing is really hard work. Who woulda thunk it? Seems like it would be lots of fun and when things are going smoothly it is. that isn't all that often. Also a problem trying to fit writing into all the other things you have going on in your life. Right now, I am itching to get back to the book I am on...hopefully tomorrow. kat
(
Kat Martin 6:06pm October 17, 2011)

Your guess is as good as my.?
(
Deb Pelletier 6:24pm October 17, 2011)

Thank you for so many hours of true enjoyment. So glad you didn't give up!
(
Sandra Spilecki 6:44pm October 17, 2011)

(
Mary C 6:53pm October 17, 2011)

Seems like I have been waiting for Against the Storm forever. So glad it will be out next week. I read at least 2 - 3 books a week and my husband is always asking me why I don't try writing them and not reading so much. I always tell him I would much rather sit and enjoy someone elses book.
(
Judy Anderson 7:35pm October 17, 2011)

I love reading posts about authors and their writing. I love western romance. And the cover is yummy! Thanks for the giveaway.
(
Jennifer Beyer 8:12pm October 17, 2011)

I haven't read any books from this series but there's a first time for everything, especially when the description sounds so interesting. Will definitely have to order some of the other books, and congrats on 50 novels!
(
Jessi Mueller 8:53pm October 17, 2011)

Your history of struggle in the industry is inspiring.....your perseverance and tenacity are a model for any aspiring author.....and your talent in entertaining rewards us all. Continued good fortune with the rest of the series!!!!
(
Carla Schuller 9:12pm October 17, 2011)

Hi Kat! I love your historical stories. Never read the suspense ones, but I'm willing to give one a try!
(
MaryAnne Banks 11:11pm October 17, 2011)

Trick or not, you have what it takes. I'd love to have the talent to write a book, much less to be good enough to get one published.
(
Lisa Kendall 11:33pm October 17, 2011)

How lucky for all of us that publishers finally saw the light and picked you up. It
is a difficult business to be in. The image of an author sitting at their desk in a
book lined study collecting royalty checks is true for very few,
I have enjoyed your book for many years and look forward to reading yje
AGAINST series,
(
Patricia Barraclough 12:01pm October 18, 2011)

So glad you did not give up either. LOL. I love your books.

In today's economy it must be even harder to get published for the first time.
(
Sue Farrell 2:58pm October 18, 2011)

Love stories with a happy ending. Happy that it all work out in the end! :)
