Sophie Winston has her hands full at the local Do-It-Yourself Festival street festival in Old Town, Virginia. She’s in charge of the festival this year and is hoping that all the vendors will get along, and the event will run smoothly. Sophie is excited to have her best friend, Nina, back from a trip abroad with some other citizens from Old Town, just in time for the festivities. But the trip was not all it was cracked up to be, according to Nina. As the festival starts, the worst possible scenario happens, Sophie finds a body behind a vendor’s house. The scene makes it appear to be an accident, but Sophie isn’t so sure. When another body is discovered, it seems someone may be targeting the people who went on the overseas trip, which includes Nina. Sophie and friends band together to keep a watchful eye on Nina, while trying to get to the bottom of what this killer is up to, and hoping they’re not next on the list.
THE DIVA SERVES FORBIDDEN FRUIT is another hit for Krista Davis! I loved this installment of the Domestic Diva series, of which this is book fourteen. The cozy in cozy mystery always shines through with Ms. Davis’s novels. In this installment we get a little bit of Do-It-Yourself tips, cooking, and decorating which is a bonus to this cleverly plotted mystery. The atmosphere in Old Town makes you feel right at home and the descriptiveness will put you right there with Sophie either running around town or in her charming kitchen cooking up some culinary delights.
THE DIVA SERVES FORBIDDEN FRUIT kept me guessing until the very end. Just when I thought I had everything figured out, another twist was thrown in and I was back at square one. This book kept me engrossed until the very last page, at which point I wished I could start over and savor it a little bit more.
THE DIVA SERVES FORBIDDEN FRUIT is a must read for all cozy lovers as it hits on various genres expertly. Although this is part of a series, it can be read as a stand-alone, but this series is so fun that I’d start at book one and immerse yourself in Old Town. It is well worth the trip.
