The human bones found in a nearby park would be enough to
disturb any small town, but Springville is still reeling
from the disappearance of the police chief's grandniece,
Kaylin Baird, fourteen months ago. Detective Nolan Hess
knows he needs an expert, so he contacts forensic
anthropologist, Dr. Sara Lockhart, to assist with
identification. Unfortunately, as evidence mounts up, it
appears they have more than just a missing persons case.
Worse yet, has Sara now found herself the target of a
deadly killer?
STONE COLD HEART is the 13th book in the Tracers
series but the story can easily be read as a standalone.
Laura Griffin has loosely connected all of the
Tracers
books through the Delphi Center. However,
each story focuses on a different couple although we do
get to see prior characters appear in the story lines.
Laura Griffin always crafts extraordinary characters that
live with you long past the last page is turned, and
STONE COLD HEART is no exception. Sara is a great
heroine! She's intelligent, spunky, and willing to forge
her own path. Her dedication to her work is admirable,
and the discussion of the work she did in Guatemala only
made me love her more. Nolan is the perfect hero for her,
a man just as driven for justice as she is- but more
importantly, one who will stand by and let her be herself
without judgement.
Laura Griffin is a master of the romantic suspense genre
and she proves it once again with STONE COLD HEART! The
mystery in STONE COLD HEART is intriguing, as Laura
Griffin carefully builds the suspense. The setting of the
parks and caves is the perfect backdrop for the story
line as it accentuates the already heightened sense of
danger. Laura Griffin is one of my favorite romantic
suspense authors and STONE COLD HEART is yet another
stellar hit from her!
New York Times bestselling author Laura
Griffin “delivers another top-notch thriller" (RT Book
Reviews) in her beloved Tracers series, about a leading
forensic anthropologist who uncovers eerie clues in a
high-stakes case that threatens to deliver her to the
doorstep of a cold-blooded murderer.
When local rock climbers stumble upon abandoned human bones
in a remote Texas gorge, Sara Lockhart is the first to get
the call. She has a reputation as one of the nation’s top
forensic anthropologists, and police detective Nolan Hess
knows she is just the expert he needs to help unravel this
case. Although evidence is scarce, Nolan suspects the bones
belong to a teenage climber who vanished last summer.
But as Sara unearths strange clues, she finds chilling
similarities to a case from her past—a case that now
threatens to rock Nolan’s community. While Sara digs deep
for answers, the stakes rise higher as another young woman
disappears without a trace. Investigators work against the
clock as Sara races to discover the truth, even if her
harrowing search brings her face to face with a stone-cold
killer.
With her signature breathless pacing and suspenseful twists
and turns, Stone Cold Heart demonstrates why “Laura
Griffin never fails to put me on the edge of my seat”
(USA TODAY).
You know even though this book is a standalone, seeing the other characters just makes me go back and re-read. They are ALL so good! (Sara Reyes 4:24pm March 29, 2019)
