Brandon Sinclair is the new Earl of Vale after his father's death. The man left a lot of debt and in order to deal with that debt, Brandon must sell a very expensive painting belonging to the family. He doesn't want them to know the lengths he is going to, so he employs an artist to make a copy of the original to be hung on the wall. Amelia Somerton is that person.

Amelia is a daughter of an infamous forger and she has learned the trade from him. Brandon asks her to paint the copy, plus he also wants a portrait of himself done. Amelia would have to paint him in private and is worried about her reputation. She is also attracted to him and worries about having to be alone with him. She would like to say no, but he offers her something that she could never have dreamed of...art lessons from a famous artist. She can't refuse after that.

The perfect situation arises where Amelia will be able to paint Brandon's portrait, a house party. She can paint him at night when everybody is asleep, then sleep in the next day as all aristocrats do. They spend a lot of time together and find themselves falling in love. It's something they both need to fight because Brandon must marry well in order to keep the family out of debt. Brandon has a lot of responsibility and he can't give in to his own personal needs, or can he?

Amelia is a very strong character, she is plain speaking, honest, and doesn't play games. Brandon is a sweetheart with the weight of the world on his shoulders. He wants to keep everybody happy, and his family debt free. I could not see any way that he and Amelia could be together. They are such a passionate, perfectly matched couple. When I could see how things might work out I was so relieved. I couldn't help but laugh out loud!

REAL EARLS BREAK THE RULES by Tina Gabrielle was filled with love, passion, mystery, intrigue, and much excitement. I loved every minute of it and definitely recommend it!
