Miss Mari Powel can't stand Peter, Lord Whitly. He called her "wayward" six years ago at a ball, and she's been fuming over it -- and trying to live it down -- ever since. Peter hasn't gotten her out of his mind since, either. Of course, their first encounter since that fateful ball ends with a wager that has the whole ton talking.
Author Jade Lee has a knack for writing strong characters with complex psyches and weaving them into bold plots with a hint of mystery and adventure. AS RICH AS A ROGUE doesn't disappoint. Peter and Mari are smart, observant, and insightful. They've both spent the last six years outlining their plans for the future and trying to set themselves up for success. The only thing standing in their way is the sparks that fly when they spy each other across a room or a crowded park.
I raced through this book in two days. Lee's books usually have that effect on me. One thing I particularly loved about AS RICH AS A ROGUE is the different way Mari and Peter react to situations. Mari tends to have a knee-jerk response, while Peter quietly thinks things through. I also enjoyed the mystery Peter is trying to solve throughout the novel. We get just hints of it throughout, but it ends up playing a key role in his relationship with Mari and their future together.
I highly recommend AS RICH AS A ROGUE to Regency romance fans who enjoy a blend of humor and action-adventure with a few steamy scenes of passion
