THE LEGEND OF LYON REDMOND is the eleventh novel in Julie
Anne Long's Pennyroyal Green series. If you've
read any of
them, you've heard -- so to speak -- the whispers of Lyon
Redmond's sudden disappearance and the speculation that
Olivia Eversea had something to do with it.
That was five years ago. Lyon never returned, and Olivia
is
planning her wedding to another man. She knows
Landsdowne
loves her. She knows she should try to care for him.
Instead her thoughts drift back to another time and
stolen
moments with her one true love.
In that way, Julie Anne Long takes us back and forth,
between the preparations for Olivia's wedding and the
fierce
joy and passion she shared with Lyon for a few short
months
in their youth. It's equally joyous for the reader. Long
infuses the story with the strength and power of their
perfect love. It's impossible not to smile, because
you're
feeling what they are. Then you feel deeply the
impossible
choice Olivia must make -- to marry for companionship and
family or live the rest of her live alone, missing the
one
man she cannot have.
And then, Lyon returns.
As only Lyon Redmond can, he gives her a glimpse of what
their life could be like together, then he leaves her
again
to make her choice. She can do what's expected of her or
she
can finally trust him and seize her last chance for
happiness.
This is the book fans of the Pennyroyal Green
series have
been waiting for, and Long delivers the epic tale the
legendary love deserves. And then she goes one better
and
gives us an epilogue to the entire series -- and then
some.
It's a device I haven't seen in a romance series before,
and
it's delightful.
I highly recommend THE LEGEND OF LYON REDMOND to fans of
Julie Anne Long and the Pennyroyal Green series.
The series
is perfect for fans of historical romance, especially if
you
enjoy mystery and adventure with your love stories. If
you
haven't read them yet, you'll want to start at the top
for
the full enjoyment of this masterwork.
