BITE AT FIRST SIGHT is Book three in Brooklyn Ann's
Scandals
With Bite paranormal historical series. This book is
my
favorite of the series so far. The romance is delicious,
exciting, and sexy. BITE AT FIRST SIGHT has some wonderful
gothic elements and lots of strong and varied female
characters.
The characters make BITE AT FIRST SIGHT a delightful read.
Cassandra Burton is a widow and not a wide-eyed innocent
young thing. She is quirky and very intelligent with
aspirations of becoming a doctor. Although she faces
ridicule for her dreams, due to the social structure at
the
time, one of the things that make the hero so cool is that
he respects her dreams and her intelligence. Rafael Villar
is a dream of a hero -- he's a sexy vampire, a scarred
hero,
and treats the heroine incredibly well. Rafael's scars
make
him real without being a jerk and Cassandra sees that.
Having the story told from both points of view really
helps
give a better understanding of their innermost thoughts.
The relationship between Cassandra and Rafael is very
passionate with moments of poignancy.
In addition to the sensual romance, the other story in
BITE
AT FIRST SIGHT involves vampire politics and treachery.
The
bad guys in BITE AT FIRST are varying degrees of evil. The
wickedness and cowardice of the villains only highlight
the
bravery of the heroes and heroines. I like that Cassandra
accepts her physical limitations as a human but does what
she is aptly and uniquely able to do in order to help in
the vampire conflict. The vampire good guys rank highly in
my estimation for appreciating strong and intelligent
women
rather than ones who are easily controlled. Although there
is a lot of action in BITE AT FIRST SIGHT, I never feel as
though the romance is obscured by it.
BITE AT FIRST SITE is an erotic love story with strong
characters and great storytelling. The ending leaves me
yearning for the next book in this series by Brooklyn Ann.
There are so many fascinating secondary characters in this
story that I hope to see in future books, like Lenore,
Elizabeth, as well as Blackpool and Rochester.
Her interest is purely scientific Cassandra Burton wants to study medicine, surgery, healing, and everything related to the human body and its mysteries-and she's willing to rob graves to do it! But a lady can meet dark and dangerous characters lurking around the cemetery. And who could be more fascinating than Rafael Villar, Lord Vampire of London? If she could study his physiology, she could learn so much that would help humans. After all, he's immortal-and Cassandra is now his prisoner... Until she gets close enough to touch As if Rafael didn't have enough to worry about, with a rebellion brewing and his allies out of reach, now he's confronted by a beautiful, fearless lady who wants to heal the scars he's born for centuries. He can't keep her, and he can't let her go, and worst of all, he's every bit as intrigued by her as she is by him.
