There is nothing better than spending the afternoon with
two Christmas
based stories by Robyn Carr and a bonus novella. TIS THE
SEASON is
the new anthology by Robyn Carr and exactly what you need
when you want
that warm fuzzy feeling Robyn Carr always gives you. Each
story is just over a
hundred pages and once you start reading, you aren't
going to be able to
stop. That is what happened to me. Each story is filled
with home as well
as love and family.
Under The Christmas introduces you to Annie McKenzie. She
has made a
detour through Virgin River to see the town Christmas
tree. There she
finds local bar owner, Jack, and his son David. David is
under the
Christmas tree and comes out with a puppy. Annie
investigates further and
finds a box with a bunch of puppies in it! Who would do
such a thing? It's
November and these very young newborn puppies could have
froze to
death! At first Jack is reluctant to keep the puppies in
the bar but soon
everyone is rallying around them and offering to help.
What has Annie
gotten in to? While she is there, she meets the new Dr.
Jensen. Oh boy,
eye candy at its finest is what she is thinking. I fell
in love with Nate right
away and I'm sure you will too. He is just what Annie
needs in her life.
Midnight Confessions is the story of Sunny Archer. She
is Nate's niece
and is nursing her broken heart in Virgin River. Her
fiancé Glen left her
standing at the alter over a year ago and she still hasn't
gotten over it. So
on New Years Eve, on the one year anniversary of the
wedding that didn't
happen, her Uncle Nate takes her to Jack's bar. While she
is there, she
meets Drew, who is looking for a New Years Eve beer and
some piece and
quiet. Well, he isn't going to find it there! He too, is
nursing a broken heart.
Nine months ago his fiancé Penny called off their wedding
plans. He
thought what they had fit, but apparently Penny didn't.
Sunny and Drew
have many things in common but one of them is not fear.
For Sunny, she is
afraid, but Drew is ready to try again with someone new.
Now here is
where the story will tug on your heart strings and have
you cheering for
Drew just like I did.
Backward Glance brings you to Durango Colorado. There you
will meet
Jess who has a daughter named Leigh who has just moved
back home
with her twin boys. John is the local handyman/landscaper
who does work
for Jess from time to time. It seems John and Leigh have
a history but no
one knows about it. Well, Jess is determined to get them
together and
married so she hatches a plan and tells her daughter she
needs to come
back home to spend time with her as she is sick. Let me
tell you, that
woman has some moxy! The things she does and the lies she
comes up
with are just crazy! The only problem with Jess's plan is
that John and
Leigh are like oil and water. She is super smart with a
very high IQ and
John, well, not so much. She has tons of money and has a
very privileged
life and John makes just enough to get by.
TIS THE SEASON was the perfect way to spend the day back
in Virgin
River. I devour every book I read of Robyn Carr's and
this one did not
disappoint. As soon as I was finished I wanted to read
more of all three of
these couples. The secondary characters in all three
stories were just
perfect and very funny. Oh, to have friends and families
like the ones you
will meet in TIS THE SEASON. Reading these stories felt
like I was visiting
with my old friends.
