Inspirational Mystery | Romance Suspense

It's Tess Villanova's first day on her new assignment as a police detective. It's also the first day with her new partner, Logan McMillan, a transplant to St. Augustine, Florida, from Chicago. The two are baptized with fire when they are called to the scene of a murder. As Tess looks at the body of a young woman, she is transported back 10 years to another murder victim, her best friend in high school. Samantha was murdered on prom night and her murderer has never been found. Today's murder victim has the same mark on her neck that was left on Sam. There have been two other unsolved murders here over the past 10 years, and the murderer left the same mark on those young ladies. Is there a serial killer living right here among them? Could this new case lead them to that killer? Barbara Cameron gives us a story filled with passion and intrigue in SCRAPS OF EVIDENCE. Tess and Logan are strong characters who have great chemistry together, both professionally and personally. The supporting characters are a great mix and help to carry out the story's plot. Ms. Cameron has skillfully woven in the theme of quilting to help Tess and Logan find the killer. She also gives us a delightful tour of St. Augustine as Tess introduces this historical town and its splendor to Logan. This inspirational story has both Tess and Logan renewing their faith in God and their faith in love, although they still question why bad things happen to good people. There is just the right touch of romance in this mystery to round out a great read.

SUMMARY

Tess has taken some ribbing from her fellow officer, Logan, for her quilting hobby. He finds it hard to align the brisk professional officer he patrols with during the day with the one who quilts in her off–time. Besides, he's been trying to get to know her better and he'd like to be seeing her during those few nights a week she spends with her quilting guild. Then one afternoon Tess and Logan visit her aunt in the nursing home, and the woman acts agitated when Tess covers her with the story quilt. Aunt Susan is attempting to communicate a message to them about Tess's uncle. There's a story behind this quilt, they realize, one that may lead them to a serial killer. Will they have a chance to have a future together, or will the killer choose Tess for his next victim before they find him?

Re: Can a quilt hold the evidence needed to solve a murder?

Funny, I just saw on AOL a story about a 25 yr old murder cold case. They have been deciding they can solve the mystery by examining a quilt the body was wrapped in. I don't know why it took them 25 yrs. to think of this, but, Iam sure there was some reason. Anyway, your book looks very good!
