Jayce Kazan is a very busy shifter. As the enforcer for the council of shifters he cleans up any problems and right now he has his plate overflowing. He had initially arrived in town to investigate the selling of vampire blood that gives the user the incredible strength of that being; it didn't hurt that his ex-lover Katarina Saburova had moved there. On top of that the Antiparanormal League (APL) was doing its best to destroy the good name of the local pack and had gone as far as to kidnap and nearly killed Kat. The fact that she had to be turned into a shifter to save her life had him furious, only because it should have been him who saved her life. It doesn't matter to him whether she is human or shifter, he continues to fight his MATING INSTINCT.
Kat Saburova's life has been turned upside down. In reality it has been in turmoil since the day she met and fell in love with Jayce. When he refused to take her as his mate she left. Now as a newly turned and believed to be traumatized from the tortures she had suffered by the APL, the pack was giving her time to settle in. The truth is she wants revenge and the only way she can get it is to learn more about her new abilities and the only person to teach her is Jayce. He is also the only man she ever loved, the very same man who broke her heart.
Even though Jayce still fears that the enemies he made and will continue to make would use his mate against him, he can no longer deny his feelings for Kat. Can he protect her from his enemies? He is so use to being and working alone as the only enforcer will he be able to become a mated shifter. One thing for sure as things escalate quickly there is no more running away for him.
MATING INSTINCT is an action packed, no holds barred, thrill ride. Many times when I have looked forward to a book on particular characters I find I am disappointed. Not this time! Jayce and Kat were exactly as I expected and all the twists and turns they managed to navigate takes the reader on a well written journey. The author's [Katie Reus] Moon Shifter books are great reads with characters you will fall in love with, root for and sometimes want to shake. I certainly hope to see more Shifter books from her as there are a number of individuals she brought to us that need a story of their own.
