Romance Historical

Every gentleman has his secrets...

London 1821
After years of marriage to a selfish man who preferred gambling to his young bride, Jane, the widowed countess of Stanwell, now seeks what she was long denied-a satisfying lover. Naturally, a lady needs a list of eligible candidates, which doesn't include the dangerously handsome (if far too arrogant) Gareth Ramsey...until he steals a sinful kiss from Jane's all-too-willing lips.

Reputed as an arrogant barrister, Gareth's real occupation is as a spy in the service of His Majesty, and his suspect is on Jane's list of possible lovers. With her life in danger, there's no safer place for Jane than with him-and in his bed. But Jane is as distracting as she is infuriating, and keeping her by his side while he pursues his mission might just endanger them both...

Re: At the Spy's Pleasure

I like second chance stories. It's interesting to see how the character's have changed in their time apart...and how they're still the same.

I certainly do believe in second chances. Everyone deserves them.

Second chances can occur! I am hoping for one in my own life...

Thanks Marcy, Bonnie, and Nancy! I'm a believer in second
chances as well, and I had fun writing the heroine's story.
Thank you for commenting!

I do enjoy second chances... seeing people overcome whatever tore them apart...
Colleen Conklin 1:13pm May 27, 2015)

I do believe in 2nd chances and like stories with them. I
love stories that have great banter and tit-for-tat. The
more they do this the better the story. When you add to
that the 2nd chance theme it makes for great reading. Best
of luck on your book. Can't wait to read it..
Tina Ullrich 1:33pm May 27, 2015)

I do believe in 2nd chances and love stories with them. We
have all had 2nd chances in our lifetime, and given a few too!
Kimberley Coover 1:58pm May 27, 2015)

I believe in second chances, everyone needs them.
Charlene Fraley 11:32pm May 27, 2015)

I believe in second chances - especially in romance. I've been married to mine for 35 years. Books about them seem to have more depth of character.

Thank you everyone for commenting! My heroine, Jane, needs a
second chance after her dismal first marriage to an addicted
gambler. The hero, Gareth, is just what she needs. Things get
hot when Gareth finds Jane's list of potential lovers!

I would say I believe in second chances and would enjoy reading a romance about that topic. Interesting to see how characters change the second time around.
Connie Sahn 2:00pm May 28, 2015)

I do believe in second chances. I wish more people did.
Kristine Murphy 2:31pm May 28, 2015)

I like the spy angle. Probably spices it up a bit.
Nancy Luebke 4:00pm May 28, 2015)

Yes, I've experienced second chances in my own life! And it
makes for a great story.
Karin Ahmed 10:27am May 29, 2015)

I do believe in second chances and enjoy seeing these
couples find their HEA's.
Janie McGaugh 4:18pm May 29, 2015)

Most definitely yes and yes ;)
Holly Loch 1:39am May 30, 2015)

I like many chances - too stubborn to see right in front of me. Looks good. Thanks

I do like second chance romances. My BF from HS just married at the age of 60. Her first husband died at an early age,38. I think sometimes we are to young to appreciate the nice guys we first met in college or at the work place. I like it when you reconnect and realize what you missed.
Laurie Gommermann 10:55am May 30, 2015)

I love second chances and enjoy reading about the redeeming
qualities to make up for what the characters blew the first
go around. Third chances can be interesting, but it's hard
to tell if the person is really going to head in the right
Alyson Widen 3:01pm May 30, 2015)

Second chances are great, especially when people have matured, lived life and discovered just what they don't know about everything. Also, allows people to be a bit more forgiving of others foibles.

Sue Farrell 5:48pm May 30, 2015)

I definitely believe in second chances.
Angela Daffern 7:38pm May 30, 2015)

Second chances are available every day, and not just when it comes to love.

Although it is an enjoyable theme in romance novels. When done right and done well, a second-chance novel could very well become one of my favorites. (I won't cite examples, because I don't want to detract from the author here!)
Rebecca Diederich 3:39am May 31, 2015)

In general, I believe in second chances. This book sounds very interesting indeed!
Karen Mason 8:59pm May 31, 2015)

Thank you everyone for your comments! It was fun and inspiring
to write Jane and Gareth's love story. After being neglected
by her first husband, Jane definitely needed a second chance
at romance. Good luck with the contest!
