Re: Because Of Audrey

Love Halloween. -- my favorite time of year. Just got back from Disney
World in FL with my family and had a wonderful time with my great niece
and nephew dressing up for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween party. They
are crazy for Stars Wars. -- I went as a pirate. One year I dressed up as
Ursula and the Thing from the Addams Family. Happy Halloween to you.

Best costume I ever wore was probably Raggedy Ann. But I won a contest as the Statue of Liberty.

Can't wait to read this book. The heroine reminds me of one of my friends - as far as how she dresses. She loves vintages dresses and hats.

For the past 5 years my husband and I have been a part of our little towns Haunted House. We love this time of year. Not only the make-up and the costumes but for the benefit of the town...All proceeds go to the Food bank and help toward those who need help.

Pat, I love that you went as the Thing! What a great idea.

Cheril, the Statue of Liberty would be a fabulous costume!

Bonnie, love that the proceeds go to the Food Bank and to help those in need.
Wonderful.

When I was younger, my husband and I loved to dress up for Halloween. Some of my favorites were Minnie and Mickey; Bunny and carrot; and Pac-Man and Inky the ghost (teal my favorite color).

best costume i ever wear one year when i was a teen dressed
up as a rock star

One of the best costumes that I ever wore was one made entirely of aluminum foil. (I had tights and a t-shirt on too), and it was a hit. (better than Saran Wrap I guess). I bent and twisted the foil and came up with a true top and skirt to wear and then made some shoes out of the foil as well. Went to a party one time dressed as an artist's canvas (complete with paint) and my husband dressed as the artist with a beret and a red scarf and moustache, etc. Fun times, but that was when we were young and carefree and going to parties a lot more than we do now. :)

Interesting story line!

Well, this book sounds right up my alley! I was a florist for 25 years and I understand how tied you become to your shop. I will enjoy reading this.

One halloween I dressed as dracula and with all make-up no one knew who I was.
I won the prize that evening.

When I was younger, I loved to get dressed up for Halloween. As for now, I could really say that every day is Halloween for me. I've been fortunate to stay the same weight that I was in High School, and since I've taken such good care of my clothes, I still wear a lot of them. I have sweaters that are 30+ years old, and I'm not ashamed to wear them. They might be a little out-of-date, but they make me who I am. Sometimes I get a weird look from acquaintances, but I really don't care. At least I'm comfortable, and it doesn't cost me a dime to keep up with the Jones'. Do I purchase new things? Sure. I even knit my own sweaters, but I still gravitate to my old, tried and true clothes, so the word is out. Your book sounds really interesting, and I'm looking forward to reading it. I remember some of those clothes from the 60's, and it will be fun to read your book, and reminesce.

Wow, Congrats on your new book: BECAUSE OF AUDREY. I love
the book cover too with the cute dog is a nice touch! Your
book sounds very interesting and I would love to win it and
read it this Fall. I did a flapper girl at Halloween long
time ago when I was single but since being married for 25
years we are retired and stay inside watching movies and do
not go trick or treating like kids do. We stay home with our
4 little dogs now that we are older. Thank You very much.

(

The best costume I ever wore was Elvira Mistress of the Dark. I was a lot younger then.

My favorite dress up was as a pirate when I taught second grade. They
loved it and I did too. Thank you for the giveaway.

My sister and I had a couple of girlfriends that moved into our neighborhood to Minnesota from Japan. They had lived there for several years because their father was an airplane pilot for Pan Am. They had these beautiful embroidered silk Japanese Geisha girl kimono-type dresses, so we all dressed up in them for Halloween. We really stood out, because they were shiny heavy silk fabric and bright colors...one red, one turquoise, one green, and one white each with intricate colored embroidery work. We all had long dark hair and put it up and used chopsticks poked through it. We found it difficult to walk in them, because they are cut very narrow through the legs to the ankles. We did the makeup on our faces and the bright red lipstick. Got lots of compliments and had a fun night! Our friends never told their mother what we wore, since she wouldn't have allowed them to take these out of the house to be worn by all of us for Halloween trick-or-treating! These were the best and most memorable costumes we ever wore.

Not me personally but I love dressing up my kids. They all look so cute. :) And yes, I am a bit biased.

I wore this crazy punk girl outfit with my girlfriend, garbage bags sprayed silver with tights in hot pink and purple and we had this crazy purple hair wig and silver mask and no one knew who we were, we didn't speak at all!! Hysterical night we had so much fun.
(
Audrey Burke 4:50pm October 25, 2013)

I love dressing up! My husband and I dressed as Ozzie and Sharon Osborne last year. It was fun to be a ginger for a night, and we even won a costume contest! Thanks for the chance to win!!!
(
Linda Brennan 5:52pm October 25, 2013)

your book sounds great. Thanks for a chance to win. I prefer to dress up when
I'm on stage - and can take on a whole new personna. But dressing up is always
fun.
(
Nancy Reynolds 6:31pm October 25, 2013)

I love the sound of Audrey's style and Gray's reaction. :D

The funniest costume I've ever worm was a duck: home-made and complete with a yellow feather duster tail.
(
Marcy Shuler 6:49pm October 25, 2013)

I am not really big into dressing up for Halloween but I have had fun with my kids costumes. One year when they were little, my 3 kids plus my sister's 2 kids dressed up as characters from Wizard of Oz - Dorothy, Glenda(The Good Witch), Scarecrow, Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion. One year my middle daughter went as a Bubble Bath.
Sounds like a great story! Thanks for the chance.
(
Ellen Thompson 7:16pm October 25, 2013)

Dressed up as Raggey Ann once ,it was fun. Thanks for a chance to win your book.
(
Linda Hall 8:44pm October 25, 2013)

I did. I went to a Halloween party dressed up as Jane from Tarzan. I did surprised quite a few people who thought I was shy.
(
Kai Wong 8:56pm October 25, 2013)

Thank you, everyone, for sharing your costume experiences! I've enjoyed
reading them about them!
(
Mary Sullivan 9:25pm October 25, 2013)

I don't get into Halloween so much myself. I'm pretty good at helping my brother who really gets into Halloween. He dressed up last year as the Riddler and one of the Aliens from Sesame Street. I'm more daring in my day to day choices. This really embarrassed my younger brother as a high school student.
(
Laura Gullickson 9:30pm October 25, 2013)

we dont really do halloween here but I do love to dress up and
often do so when Helping at the YMCA holiday programme esp
when they have a last day party
or at other holiday camps

Halloween is always so much fun!
(
Lucinda Schmaltz 10:45pm October 25, 2013)

I do like to play dress up, although I don't get much of a chance to do it
anymore. My favorite Halloween costume was when I dressed up as a
pirate wench! Fun and sexy. . . Lol!
(
Maureen Hayes 11:26pm October 25, 2013)

I've enjoyed being a woman just out of the shower (wearing a bath sheet over my sports clothes, as I was playing sports at the time), a French maid, a rabbit (in my "onesie"), a Christmas tree (inside green garbage bags), and more. This year I'm dressing as the Paperbag Princess, using store paperbags and a dollar-store tiara.
(
Elaine Seymour 11:59pm October 25, 2013)

I hate dressing up, but my niece used to dress up in great costumes. One year she dressed up as a farmer and her collie was dressed as a milk cow. It was great.
(
Carol Woodruff 11:14am October 26, 2013)

I really don't like to dress up--but I sure enjoy seeing everyone else's costumes. Halloween is such a fun time of year.
(
Sue Farrell 11:39am October 26, 2013)

I've never dressed up for Halloween but it sounds like fun.
(
Rita Wray 5:29pm October 26, 2013)

We actually don't celebrate Halloween here, but I'd love to be
a witch.
(
Mary Preston 6:03am October 27, 2013)

love Halloween, loving seeing all the little kids
(
Patricia Lambert 11:33am October 27, 2013)

Dressing up is always fun. I went to a Bonnie and Clyde party
in Washington DC and everybody dressed for it. Renting a
flapper dress and twirling my beads, I felt very ladylike and
like dancing plus we drank our drinks from teacups.
