Paranormal Romance | Fantasy Urban | Romance Paranormal

Eons ago, vampires tried to turn the Dark Fae in order to harness their magic, only to create a demonic enemy more powerful than they could have imagined. Quietly amassing their strength for centuries, the Vampiric Fae-led by the merciless Myst, Queen of the Indigo Court-are determined to enslave the world. Only one witch stands in her way...

Cicely Waters grew up believing she was simply one of the magic-born-a witch who can control the wind-but when she returned home to New Forest, Washington, she discovered she was also one of the shifting Fae. Now she must perfect her gift. For Myst, Queen of the Indigo Court, has captured Grieve, the Fae prince who holds Cicely's heart. To save both her beloved Grieve and her friend Kaylin-whose demon is waking-Cicely must journey deep into the heart of the Indigo Court. But even as Cicely gathers strength, old alliances are breaking faith.

And new allies, like the hedonistic vampire Lannan Altos, promise to take Cicely down a far darker path than she's ever traveled before.

Re: Night Veil

I always prefered Superman comics over Batman. The story of his father sending him off as a baby to save his life, growing up and having to hide his powers just appealed to me. Then there was Christopher Reeve..enough said :-)
(Cheryl Ricin 12:54pm June 27, 2011)

Batman was always my hero of choice. I loved his car, his cave and his sidekick Robin.
(
Holly Caulfield 12:58pm June 27, 2011)

BATMAN: a dark, tormented hero. Got to love that.
(
Mary Preston 1:09am June 27, 2011)

Batman... all that dark leather....
(
Michele Powell 1:17am June 27, 2011)

I prefer Superman because of his nature. He protects, defends and is loyal.
(
Na S 1:31am June 27, 2011)

Superman because his history and story is more interesting than Batman's, plus I used to be a big fan of Smallville.
(
Jessica Sutton 1:45am June 27, 2011)

I would definately go for Batman too. Dark, tormented, leather, protects and defends. Have always wondered though about the relationship with him and Robin, lol.
(
June A, Manning 1:46am June 27, 2011)

I like Batman because he doesn't possess any superpowers, but he's still out there trying to fight crime.
(
Jane Cheung 2:23am June 27, 2011)

I agree about batman, superman was always too good. I like that batman struggles with doing the right thing, instead of it just coming naturally.
(
Debbie Penny 6:07am June 27, 2011)

BATMAN FOR ME..I AM IN IT TO WIN IT!
(
Silvana Moscato 6:17am June 27, 2011)

Batman or Superman--hmmm? Both were right in their own time.
Remember when they were first written and what was going on in the world.
Superman came along when the world needed a hero they could trust. People
needed the simplicity and yes, purity of the Superman image. Batman came
along when we needed a more positive image for the ultra rich. To each his
time and place. My question is "Who will it be that answers the call for a
NOW hero?".
(
Sandra Spilecki 6:53am June 27, 2011)

I think I pick Superman, because he is a modest guy just trying to save the world.
(
Maureen Emmons 7:07am June 27, 2011)

Batman for sure!! I named my black cat Batman it suits him there are days he runs around like the cape crusader and other days he's chilling in the bat cave.
(
Theresa Norris 7:11am June 27, 2011)

Batman . .. that mask makes him a bit more alluring and mysterious. :)
(
Melissa Maringer 7:13am June 27, 2011)

superman-from my childhood -seems more nostaglic jackie morris 06/27/2011.
(
Jackie Morris 7:53am June 27, 2011)

I use to love superman, but then I grew up an Michael Keaton
became Batman and viole' Batman is the man!
(
Joni Johnson 8:03am June 27, 2011)

Batman! He's much more believable than superman and seriously, who wouldn't want to have a batcave and Alfred the butler?
(
Karen Gervasi 8:26am June 27, 2011)

I like Batman best for mainly the same reasons as you. I like a real heao not Mr Perfect because they are so boring. Will they have a laugh or laugh at themselves? Probably not. Life is too short, you have to be able to laugh now and then.
(
Barbara Hanson 8:31am June 27, 2011)

Batman, no question about it. Batman is dark and tortured. He doesn't have super powers. He is physically vulnerable like any other human but he puts himself at risk anyway. Of course some could say that he has a death wish or is an adrenaline junkie but whatever. I love my heroes to be dark and twisty. I don't want a goody-goody, aw shucks hero.
(
Stacie Deramo 9:44am June 27, 2011)

Batman, he has a dark side. I agree Superman is just too good.
(
Annetta Stolpmann 10:04am June 27, 2011)

Superman! The name says it all...Super Man, and I don't care for bats.
(
Debra Simning-Chapman 10:18am June 27, 2011)

Superman because Batman has the dark side that I don't like.
(
Cheryl Castings 10:28am June 27, 2011)

superman-because he has all of the same thouhts and feelings as we do but also has a "calling" to serve and protect the innocent and helpless. reminds me of the military people i know.
(
Tammy Ramey 10:37am June 27, 2011)

Batman...dark and conflicted is just sexier!
(
Diane Pollock 10:44am June 27, 2011)

Batman. I always thought it was a bit silly that all Superman needed for a
disguise was a pair of glasses.
(
April Young 10:45am June 27, 2011)

the closest hero to reality and anyone can be him... BATMAN!
(
Lory Diocampo 11:10am June 27, 2011)

I would have to choose the dark and steamy Batman. His flaws make him more realistic and who could resist that car!
(
Jody Hollenbeck 11:15am June 27, 2011)

Prefer Batman; he has a sense of humor and just think of all the great actors who played him - George Clooney for one - (even tho heard that movie version was not so good) -
(
Pat Lieberman 11:44am June 27, 2011)

I never really cared that much for Superman although I grew up watching him in black and white. He was too perfect and no one could ever aspire to be anything like him because of his origins. Batman I could get see as a more realistic hero with his own faults, but I always wanted to be like him and be Batgirl to help out where I could. Batman wins.
(
Norma Storms 11:47am June 27, 2011)

As they've been presented I prefer Superman, though I generally prefer flawed to unflawed (whatever that means) characters. The problem for me is that Batman isn't typically a very nice guy, and seems to me to be presented as if ~~~Darkness~~~ were a fine and wave-worthy substitue for niceness. It's not, for me.
(
Mary Ann Dimand 11:50am June 27, 2011)

I like batman more. Not just in the comics but in movies too. Almost all
the batman movies were more interesting. The dark side is more
fascinating, I guess.
(
May Pau 11:52am June 27, 2011)

Batman with all his flaw and darkness appeals most to me.
(
Sue Farrell 11:55am June 27, 2011)

I'd have to go with Batman simply because I prefer a dominate man. He's always in control no matter which persona he is wearing. I find the docile Clark Kent very unattractive, while Bruce Wayne....mmmmmmmmm
(
Melanie Ingle 12:01pm June 27, 2011)

Batman for me. He is a dark hero with cool gadgets/vehicles , an interesting sidekick(Chris O'Donell version) and a great manservant.
(
Crystal Broyles 12:03pm June 27, 2011)

I liked both, but if I really have to choose, it would be Superman. I grew up watching the series. Yes, I thought it was silly that no one recognized him with his glasses on, but I loved the premise -- truth and the American way. I was really sad when George Reeves committed suicide and the series ended.
(
Cathy Phillips 12:13pm June 27, 2011)

I'm not sure I could choose one over the other since they bring such different things to the table, but as a kid watching Justice League, I always thought it seemed like the two of them plus Aqua Man were always fighting over Wonder Woman. Tehe!
(
Kelli Jo Calvert 12:39pm June 27, 2011)

Batman no question dark, dangerous, and best of all no super powers just his mind and cool gadgets to solve crime.
(
Tina Bowens 12:55pm June 27, 2011)

I like Batman, he just seems more real to me. He struggles just like the rest of us with what to do and his life seems more realistic than Superman.
(
Kris Bowers 12:58pm June 27, 2011)

Batman to the bone. I like him because he achieved his abilities through training, determination, justice, hope, truth, life, faith, and knowledge. He lost both his parents as a child and yet he still rised to become Gotham's hope of a crime free city.
(
Anthonia Sharp 1:03pm June 27, 2011)

I guess for me it was Superman because the way Batman is
usually represented in the original comics he was way to dark
and gritty for me. Batman came across as one step away from
being a bad guy whereas Superman was always a good guy :D
(except for the time with the corrupted Kryptonite ;).
(
Ilona Fenton 1:05pm June 27, 2011)

Batman
(
Kim C 1:08pm June 27, 2011)

I would say Batman for me... I like him because of the bit of darkness in him... trying to make Gotham a safer place, using his detective skills and fighting off the bad guys with some really neat toys...
(
Colleen Conklin 1:22pm June 27, 2011)

Batman. I never understood the attraction for Superman. He seemed to inhuman and not in a good way. Superman is almost an automaton in his behavior. I'll take the rich boy with toys, please.
(
V Scott 2:11pm June 27, 2011)

They both confuse me lol. Clark Kent and Superman look totally alike - now really just the glasses are not enough lol. And I don't quite get how Batman flies considering he isn't suppose to have any extra powers. But they are both hot!
(
Jeanne Sheats 2:20pm June 27, 2011)

Superman,he can go back in time, how super is that.
(
Deb Pelletier 2:44pm June 27, 2011)

Definitely Batman, he has a sultry edge that makes him appear darker in
nature than Superman. He also values Robin and his house man,
Superman really doesn't have that - sure, there is Lois...but it's not the
same as the sense of responsibility that Batman has. Lastly, Batman is
more believable. If he took a bad hit, he is going to really feel it the next
day.
(
Carla Ponder 2:50pm June 27, 2011)

I like the darker side of Batman.
(
Terri Quick 2:52pm June 27, 2011)

Superman--He has the weight of the world on his shoulders and he always acts with integrity and honesty.
(
G S Moch 3:17pm June 27, 2011)

Superman would be my hero.
(
Shirley Nienkark 3:22pm June 27, 2011)

Batman is insane and ends up far more compelling - plus, his villains are much more interesting, and I am a sucker for fabulous bad guys. I'm all about the Joker and the parallel between him and Batman.
(
Maddie Anderson 3:27pm June 27, 2011)

I like both background stories but Batman is more interesting. He's a mortal man with no super powers. He uses his wits, his money and his desire for revenge to help others. And he has such cool toys! :) Great question!
(
Debbie Wright 4:25pm June 27, 2011)

I've gotta go with Superman. The love story between him and Lois Lane always got me.
(
Tabitha Monroe 5:02pm June 27, 2011)

Superman! with his hunky alien self..........
(
Marcelle Cole 5:34pm June 27, 2011)

I like Both! Both were orphans. Batman wasn't adopted out, but he saw his parents die, so there was his driving conflict. Superman had the Kent's who adopted and raised him. They gave him the love for his adoptive world that he might not have gotten with any other family, or if the Gvt had found him. I read the comics long before movies. And the old TV shows. And by the way, Spiderman rocks too.
(
A Rose Tracy 5:34pm June 27, 2011)

Batman, always, Batman. I was always drawn to his darker side; his toys; his leather; his humanity; his millions. Yep, Batman.
(
Cynthia Netherton 5:41pm June 27, 2011)

I love this question. I used to collect comic books, hang out with my
friends, play D&D, how times have changed but the eternal question
remained.. Batman or Superman. Superman is an alien with
superpowers, yes he stands for good, justice, so on, so on... But take a
man that has scars, darkness, pain and fallibility and still fights for good
and for others to have daylight shine upon them.. well, that's the true
hero. Definitely a Batman girl. As I write this I think of Shakespeares
Sister's song Face to Face.
(
Carla Carlson 5:58pm June 27, 2011)

batman...mask and leather!!!!!
(
Jennifer Beck 6:32pm June 27, 2011)

Superman is my favorite superhero because I like how he makes a game of flirting and changes in a phone booth.
(
Alyson Widen 7:58pm June 27, 2011)

Batman; he tries and gives it his best and never loses confidence that he can make a difference.
(
Diane Sadler 8:13pm June 27, 2011)

I prefer Batman because he is human and does the best he can with what he has got, which admittedly is quite a lot!
(
S Tieh 8:42pm June 27, 2011)

Well, Batman for a romantic interlude, Superman for the long haul.
(
Janet Martin 8:56pm June 27, 2011)

Really difficult choice, but I'll go with Batman. He keeps going no matter how often he's knocked down. He also has really neat gadgets & I love Alfred.
(
Diane Sallans 8:57pm June 27, 2011)

Batman Forever
(
Catherine Myers 9:49pm June 27, 2011)

I prefer Batman. He is self made. He inherited money but he had to do everything on his own, bat car, bat signal and so on.
(
Lisa Kendall 10:09pm June 27, 2011)

I prefer Batman, but not for the same reasons as you. I prefer his lifestyle. The way he has his private life with the public, yet has his other life as Batman when he enters the cave, ready to do battle. I also prefer his personality to that of Superman. He's a bit cocky, yet very level-headed at the same time, and very smart. Also, depending on what era you're talking about, he's better looking than Superman. lol He has Robin to help him as well as Alfred to give him sage advice when necessary. I'd say he's more well-rounded as a person. Great cover on your book, great blog post, and can't wait to read your book!!
(
Peggy Roberson 10:09pm June 27, 2011)

I would have to choose Batman. He's not perfect but he's human and easier to relate to. Superman can do all these things that Batman can't but they both do the same job.
(
Alana Caldwell 10:26pm June 27, 2011)

I always loved Batman myself, he had an awesome car and he wasn't perfect.
(
Gail Hurt 10:38pm June 27, 2011)

Batman because he does't have superpowers so he has to work harder than Superman.
(
Kara Lepard 11:31pm June 27, 2011)

I like Superman the best because he is always taking off from the office helping people in trouble. Please enter me in your great contest too. Thank YOU very much.
Cecilia
(
Cecilia Dunbar Hernandez 11:38pm June 27, 2011)

I prefer Superman and though I know it is not really reasonable, it is because of Christopher Reeves portrayal of the character.
(
G. Bisbjerg 11:42pm June 27, 2011)

Batman, he's dark and sexy...
(
Robin Daily 12:28pm June 28, 2011)

I prefer Batman over Superman. Batman uses his wits to solve crime. He doesn't use brute force. He is a lot more intelligent than Superman. Superman to me is that he uses brute force and he doesn't think through of what is nemesis is planning. He rushes into things because of his invincible (with the exception of kytonite). It's also funny how all his nemesises know that kytonite is his weakness.
(
Kai Wong 1:00am June 28, 2011)

Oh hands down...Batman! He's like you & me, he makes mistakes, he has "urges" and wow, that costume?! What girl would choose tights over leather?? Haha
(
Patti DelValle 1:48am June 28, 2011)

batman for me cause he is human and yet still chooses to do what is right and he got the cool gadgets
(
Jennifer Mathis 3:51am June 28, 2011)

I always preferred Batman. Superman's alter ego was always a bit to wimpy for me. At least Batman's (Man) was still masculine.
(
Patti Paonessa 7:37am June 28, 2011)

Batman is the number one in my book, and always will be. The man's got guts, will, honor, heart, and lot of justice in the mix. Plus he is not the type to give up and he finds a way to outsmart his opponets
(
Anthonia Sharp 10:31am June 28, 2011)

Batman, because he is a human being not a super being.
(
Joan OToole 10:36am June 28, 2011)

I have always liked superman becase he faced some major abandonment issues and yet was still agood guy. I think he culd have had some dark times in his life that have yet to be explored that have helped shape the person he is now. He was always having to hide who he realy is to make the world happy. I think we are all shaped by circumstnace, and he goes to show that eventhough you were sent away by your parents, there is a greater reason, and you stll can turn out to be great!!
(
Nicole Campbell 10:37am June 28, 2011)

Batman, because he's a darker character and because he's more human.
(
Dovile Petrasiunaite 10:50am June 28, 2011)

since super man not around no more and then it would be bat man they have some sexy guys and women in the shows
(
Desiree Reilly 12:23pm June 28, 2011)

Superman
(
Joanne Bozik 1:08pm June 28, 2011)

Batman because he seems more real. Superman has almost no flaws and that makes him to unreal for me.
(
Pam Howell 1:54pm June 28, 2011)

batman because he is human and he makes mistakes.
(
Barbara Corbitt 4:01pm June 28, 2011)

Superman, because, for all of his powers, he's just a regular person of regular means trying to do the right thing. Batman could have never been Batman without the outrageous Wayne money.
(
Anne Gallick 4:12pm June 28, 2011)

BATMAN - he has cool toys
(
Pamela Faye Howell 5:08pm June 28, 2011)

It would be Batman he appears to be more of the real thing. Not only that i always like the scence where the joker rides in on a float the music was absolutely wild and
super. It does not hurt Batman is handsome too.He could save me any day!
(
Brenda Cushman 6:04pm June 28, 2011)

It's Superman for me! We could use him now!
(
Janice Milliken 6:38pm June 28, 2011)

When I was little, it was Superman, hands down. But as an adult, Batman. The dark side, the intelligence, the tech - a much more complex and interesting character.
(
Carol Drummond 6:39pm June 28, 2011)

Batman has my vote...love all his gadgets.
(
Diane Chenier 9:09pm June 28, 2011)

Batman rules.
(
John Fry 10:10pm June 28, 2011)

Superman is the one and only Super Hero!
(
Susan Coster 10:38pm June 28, 2011)

I like Batman..He has alot of goodies to play with and a body from hell.Plus he has a mans face. Not like Superman who has a boyish face. i MEAN REALLY? Superman?
(
Bella Blackdove 9:16am June 29, 2011)

Superman all the way. Always thought he was the better superhero!
(
Jo Anne Vincenti 12:13pm June 29, 2011)

Batman because he's a superhero without superpowers. I mean, having supernatural powers is easy to use on heroic things, but not having them makes a person even more heroic.
(
Birgit Lehner 1:20pm June 29, 2011)

I like them both, for different reasons and I suppose, if I had to choose it would be Superman. I love his outfit....very sexy, his protectiveness, he can fly and has super powers but is also very human.
(
Valerie Bongards 1:52pm June 29, 2011)

I would say Superman because he's cute and looks stronger.
(
Diane Lesetmoe 2:29pm June 29, 2011)

I like them both! As a child I liked Batman, but as an adult I like Superman!! Please don't make me explain this??
(
Renee Howell 3:17pm June 29, 2011)

Superman for sure!
(
Stephanie Bondlow 3:20pm June 29, 2011)

Batman is the one i will alwyas choose hands down. The guy has some serious skills, determination, and will. Plus he has cool devices that help him fight bad guys.
(
Anthonia Sharp 4:15pm June 29, 2011)

I prefer Superman because he has those cool powers and always stays true to his girl. Batman seems to just have a lot of money and can't keep a girl.
(
Alicia Day 5:40pm June 29, 2011)

Definitely Batman! Strong, sexy, and mysterious are qualities of his that intrigue me. I like that he sees things in different hues of black and white as opposed to the goody-goodyness of Superman.
(
Jody Faltys 9:56pm June 29, 2011)

I prefer Superman and that is because while he is not typically down to earth he "is" surreal, and he represents that invinceable super power that we all wish we had. He is composed without purposely displaying composure. He is compassionate without fully understanding from where inside of him self that compassion comes from. Most of all like so many of us in the real relm he is tends to unintentionally be quite deceptive. Superman is that imagined part of myself that I would like to be in real life. After all, there is a bit of a super hero inside of all of us, it's just my super hero self is called Superman!
(
Ronald Riedel 3:21am June 30, 2011)

I prefer Batman, especially when he is played by Christian Bale ;). I think he's a really interesting hero with a great reason for why he became a hero.
(
Amy Greenwood 6:14am June 30, 2011)

Can I have a kind of combo of the two? No? Well, I should pick Superman: sweet, kind, good, and as someone said "true to the girl". But with my track record, I'd end up with the dark, tortured womanizing Batman. :)
(
Penny Mettert 6:31am June 30, 2011)

Batman forever. He is a man with issues like everyone else in the world. Plus he decided to do something about the injustice of the world in gothan city. Batman takes on criminals and keeps the city safe. Now there's a man for you.
(
Anthonia Sharp 10:53am June 30, 2011)

superman here but everybodys different!
(
Debbi Shaw 10:55am June 30, 2011)

Batman - there is no comparison! He has all the mystery and sexiness of all superheros! If I wanted a nerdy, kind and good person.... I would just look at my husband! I want what's not good for me!
(
Nicole Strain 12:39pm June 30, 2011)

Batman. It just seems to me no matter the time Batman alsways seems more adaptable and better able to fit in. Also Batman has the better groupd of friends ands foes which just makes him more interesting
(
Amanda Boyer 1:29pm June 30, 2011)

Batman...especially after George Cloony played him!
(
Cheri Oggy 1:35pm June 30, 2011)

Batman. He's more human, flawed. Just more realistic, in a super-hero kinda way.

I prefer batman, he's a hero that doesn't have actual powers. Also I prefer the batman movies!
(
Rachael Haas 2:55pm June 30, 2011)

I prefer Superman - the geek whose is always picked on - turns to hero!!! And the flying thing.... super sexy!
(
QuenKne M 4:49pm June 30, 2011)

BB, I prefer batman, he wasnt born with super powers and still is able to help people in need. Superman has a powers but he is also brought down by kryptonite, so he has a flaw. Batman wins! Yeah! :) LadyFiera(at)aol(dot)com

Jessica Roberts 5:42pm June 30, 2011)

I prefer Supreman. Short version that black mask on Batman creeps me out.
(
Roseann Moss 5:44pm June 30, 2011)

I prefer Mighty Mouse!!! He was my first hero.
(
Sandy Mangarella 6:08pm June 30, 2011)

Batman, of course. He's sexy and there is all that black leather. ;) Not to mention he has a sense of humor...small but a hell of a lot more than Superman.
(
Kirsten Kimball 8:06pm June 30, 2011)

(
Chris Bails 8:35pm June 30, 2011)

I prefer Batman. He seems more real than Superman, more approachable.
(
Angela Clark 9:42pm June 30, 2011)

I must confess - neither. I am more of a Thor girl. Superman is too good and Batman just doesn't quite do it for me. Give me lusty Vikings every time.
(
Sharon Mitchell 10:25pm June 30, 2011)

Batman would be my choice of those 2. And love that car
(
Barbara Studer 10:44pm June 30, 2011)

You have to go with Batman. I think it's amazing that he's an
ordinary guy, with no superpowers, but he has all these unique
gadgets and is willing to risk his life to be the hero!
(
Michelle Barnes 10:46pm June 30, 2011)

BATMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(
Jennifer Beck 10:46pm June 30, 2011)

I'd have to go with Batman. Superman just seems too sweeky-clean. Like the mask, the outfit, the vehicle, the attitude of Batman.
(
Jennifer Lower 2:00am July 1, 2011)

I prefer Batman over Superman. I have always liked Batman more than Superman because Batman has always come across more real to me than Superman. Batman seems like a regular guy like everybody else. Superman has never come across as a regular guy to me. Plus, I have always been intrigued by Gotham City and the residents who live there while I have never been fascinated with the Planet of Krypton.
(
Kristen Hendricks 4:58am July 1, 2011)

Batman - without a doubt! The Batcave and Batmobile are incomparable!!
(
Nancy Gazo 10:06am July 1, 2011)

Batman. Superman was too good for me. Batman didn't mind getting dirty, which was how I stayed as a kid with four brothers. Plus there is the car and he is rich.
(
Lena Lee 10:32am July 1, 2011)

Batman he seems more real than superman.
(
Janice Reyes 12:36pm July 1, 2011)

I prefer Superman to Batman. I've always enjoyed the story of his birth and his arrival on Earth. Also, the mild mannered Clark Kent becoming a superhero appeals to me.
(
Anna Speed 2:30pm July 1, 2011)

Batman is the one i prefer. Never underestimate this crime fighter he kicks butt every time. Plus he is one hell of martial artist.
(
Anthonia Sharp 4:04pm July 1, 2011)

(
Teresa Ward 9:13pm July 1, 2011)

I like both Superman and Batman... but if I had my druthers, I'd go with Spiderman who was not a choice... He human... he has super powers... he cares... he struggles with his emotions and his social skills... He just seems to be more relatable...
(
Linda Townsend 9:33pm July 1, 2011)

I'd have to go with Batman. Superman is just too squeeky clean.
(
Denise Malia 10:43pm July 1, 2011)
